League Rules
Welcome!1) Upon joining, pick 2 teams from 1930 (War on Poverty -- the Great Depression): 1 winning team, and 1 losing team. Ideally, it would be 1 NL and one AL team, but this is not a hard and fast rule. First come, first served on the teams chosen.
2) You will get all the players on your teams' 1930 roster; at least, all the players that PC will let be imported. You can stat change these players to any season where they have 100 AB and 35 IP. Note that when you are finished, every player must have stats with a minimum of 100 AB and 35 IP. If the player does not have such a season, he must be dropped.
3) Progressions will be unpredictable.
4) Season 2 will begin with imports from 1936 (First War against Fascism -- Spanish Civil War). Imports must have 35 IP or 100 AB minimum.
5) You may stat change your original players to 1936, if they have 35 IP or 100 Ab in 1936. You may continue to stat change these players before Season 3 (1937), and Season 4 (1938), etc, as long as they meet the minimums for stat changing, but you may not stat change anyone to any other year but the upcoming season after this initial (pre-season 1) stat change.
Recap: 1930 players, stat change to any year, but the players you retain must have 35 IP or 100 AB. After season 1, unpredictable progression is used (plateau is 28 - 33), you can stat change anyone to 1936 if they meet league minimums, and you get 1936 imports. Players are yours until you cut or trade them.
Duplicates will be allowed in 1930. Beginning with the first set of imports (1936), duplicates will not be allowed: With 1936 imports, and subsequent imports, a player belongs to the team a player played for most, in terms of AB and IP. ANY DEBATE OVER WHICH TEAM A PLAYER BELONGS TO MUST BE RAISED BEFORE FIRST PITCH IN THAT SEASON. AFTER FIRST PITCH, THE RIGHT TO APPEAL IS DEEMED TO BE WAIVED.
Waiver claims will be made available starting in Season2, once the season begins, and once free agents exist.
Playoffs!: There are 12 teams in the league. 7 teams will make the playoffs: 3 division winners, and 4 wild cards. Teams 4 - 7 (the wild card teams) will play a one-game single-elimination until one wild card team is left (think NCAA Final Four). Then, the 3 division winners and the wild card team will play best-of-seven series until a Champion is declared. The Wild Card team (and the division winners) will be seeded based on regular season record, but the Wild Card team will not be the home team (i.e. have more than 3 home games) in either 7-game series.
This gives most of the owners a chance to win the Championship, while still giving the best team in each division protection from an early exit, and winning a division title will continue to mean something.
Ties: If teams tie for a playoff spot:
⇒ If both teams would be “in”, use head-to-head record as a tiebreaker. 2nd tiebreaker: run differential. 3rd tiebreaker: I will make an arbitrary decision.
⇒ If one is in, the other is out, 1 game playoff (@ head 2 head winner)
No team tied for a playoff berth will be sent home without a chance to play their way into (or play their way out of) a playoff berth.
General Rules:
162 game season. 4-man rotations until further notice, but not later than 1975.
10) You may not trade players between your own teams.
11) Trades and waivers will be closed after game 140. Trades will be re-opened after the World Series, and waivers will become available the following season, once games start.
12) A player can have his primary and secondary positions switched if he played half the games in his current season, or 25% of his career games at the desired primary position. A player can be switched to the position he played most in his career even if it is not his primary or secondary position when he was acquired (but only during the offseason). A SP can be switched to RP as needed, but only during the offseason. If a player is listed as primary DH, he can be switched to his secondary position if he has a fielding percentage. ALL SUCH CHANGES CAN ONLY OCCUR DURING THE OFFSEASON.
Expectation of owners:
13) Owners are expected to read messages on a daily basis. The deadline for completing an act will be a minimum of 48 hours from the time of posting. After the 48 hours, it is not a defense for the owner to say that he did not see the message.
14) Every owner is expected to field a team (9 pitchers and 11 fielders) every game. Failure to do so, making the sims not run, results in a forfeit.
15) Teams must be down to roster limits by game 1 (26 ml, 9 minor league). After game 2, Commissioner will fix any roster not in compliance.
