League Rules

1. Basic Pitch: For some of us, the 70s were when the legends played: Seaver…Morgan…Carlton…Schmidt…Guidry…Mendoza…

This is what this league is about. Pick a team from the 1970s. We divide the decade in half (1970 - 1974, and 1975 - 1979), so each franchise can be used twice, but only once from each half. So, Jimmy can take the 1971 Cubs and get Billy North, and Jose can take the 1979 Cubs and get Kong Kingman. But, even if Jose wants the Rangers instead, if Jimmy takes the 1971 Cubs, no one can take the 1970, 1972, 1973, or 1974 Cubs.

Pick your team when you enter the league by placing your choice in the chat box. First come, first served.

2. How are players acquired?

You get all the players with 50 AB and 20 IP on your roster for the initial season, which is either from the first half (1970 - 1974) or the last half (1975 - 1979) of the decade. From whichever season and team you pick, we proceed forward. A player is yours until you trade or cut him. For subsequent seasons, minimums for imports will be 35 IP and 100 AB.

3. Updating personnel:

Progressions: type: Unpredictable. Plateau range: 30 - 32

Imports and Minimums: 35 IP, 100 AB. You will get all the players on your next roster, regardless of whether they play elsewhere in the league (i.e. duplicates allowed).

Stat changing? Yes. Minimums will be the same as for imports. 1 per season – save this for a player that is NOT on your team’s next season roster. If you don’t use it, you can bank it. A bonus stat change awarded with the league’s inception, meaning that for the first offseason, you will have 2 in the bank. It is a one-time bonus.

Trades? No. No draft, no free agents, and no waivers.

4. League set up, number of games, rotation size, injury length, and roster size:

Will depend on the number of teams and owners.
162 regular season games.
4-man rotation for the first year.
5 for players, 8 for pitchers.
26/14.

5. Playoffs: The division winners in each league will be the top 3 seeds in the league's playoffs. In the play-in round and Round 1, the 4 wild card teams will play best-of-3 series until 1 wild card team remains -- the 4th seed.

Round 2 will be best-of-7 (1-4, 2-3), as will the league LCS and the World Series.

SEASON 4 AMENDMENT: 3 division winners, 4 wild cards. The wild cards play best-of-3 til 1 wild card team remains. The 4 remaining teams play best of 7 until the league crowns a champion. The last 2 rounds will be seeded by regular season record, not by record when round 3 begins.

Rules about ties for a playoff spot:

A wild card team never hosts a series against a non-wild card team.

If teams tie for a playoff spot:
⇒ If both teams would be “in”, use head to head record as a tiebreaker. Run differential is the 2nd tie-breaker.
⇒ If one is in, the other is out, 1 game playoff (@ head 2 head winner)

MY BASIC EXPECTATIONS OF EACH OWNER:

⇒ Your commitment is season to season. When you join, you will be expected to actively run your team until the end of the season, which is when the regular season ends for non-playoff teams, or when your playoff team is eliminated. If you quit mid-season without my blessing, I will share this information with other commissioners.

⇒ Actively running your team means that you read messages once per day, meet all deadlines, and communicate any difficulties to the commissioner.

⇒ I will provide a minimum of 48 hours between a posting of a deadline, and the deadline. Ignorance of the deadline will not be an excuse for failing to meet the deadline.

⇒ If you will be away, and unable to get your messages, give the commissioner advance notice. Inactivity for ten (10) days, or repeated failure to meet deadlines, may result in your being booted from the league.

⇒ Every owner is expected to field a team (9 pitchers and 11 fielders) every game. Failure to do so, making the sims not run, results in a forfeit.

⇒ Read and be familiar with the rules immediately upon joining: it may affect your desire to be in the league, or your desire to pick a certain team.

Please keep all conversations clean
Please don't be rude to fellow owners
Please be active, if not active for 14 days you may be removed from the league
We all love baseball and that's why we're here. So Just have fun and enjoy!

General rules:

Each offseason, you can switch a SP to RP, or a RP to a SP, but stamina will remain “as is.”. You can change it back the next offseason if you like, but no changes between first pitch and the last out of the World Series.
You can switch a player’s primary and secondary positions if they played 50% or more games THAT season at their secondary position, or at least 25% of their games for their career at their secondary position.
During an offseason, a player can be switched to the position they played most in their career, regardless of the requirements of General Rule #2.
You can switch a DH to his secondary position, as long as he has a fielding percentage.

Off season duties:

In Season #1, double stats.

Empty the free agent pool

Unpredictable progression. Plateau range: 30 - 32

Imports: You get all the imports from the next season (35 IP/100 AB minimum)

Stat changes: 1 perseason, with minimums (35 IP/100 AB minimum). Message the Commissioner’s Office with the names.

Cuts to a certain roster limit. (26/14)
