League Rules
MLB Budget Favorite Format League. The League will be made up of 10 teams each season. There will be two, five team divisions. Each owner will be drafting a new team at the beginning of each season. The range of players available for drafting is 1881 to 2025.
1. BUDGET DRAFT -- You are assigned a team as soon as you join the league. Click the "Draft My Team!" link from your My Team page. (The "My Team" link is in the top banner, just below the website logo.) You pick a franchise that hasn't been used and build your team within the budget allowed. There is no restrictions on any player you want that is available, as long as they fit within your budget. Your are urged to carry 5 SP. Because we don't use fatigue or injuries there is no need to draft 2 players for every position. It you exceed your budget, you are still able to add players to your roster to till vacant spots by using 0 and negative numbers in your players search. Any questions on this, please contact me. Each team will have a budget of 85 points. Each there will be a list of ten teams available to draft. List#1 National Division: Dodgers, Giants, Cardinals, Phillies and Cubs. American Division: Yankees, Red Sox, Guardians, Astros and A's. List#2 National Division: Nationals, Braves, Padres, Brewers and Mets. American Division: Mariners, Rays, Twins, White Sox and Orioles. List#3 National Division: Marlins, Reds, Rockies, D'Backs and Pirates. American Division: Royals, Tigers, Blue Jays, Angels and Rangers. These list will rotate yearly.
2. TEAM DETAILS -- Be sure to modify any team details, such as, Logo, Park and your Park Effects. before the season starts. Team details will lock at the beginning of the season.
3. SEASON START -- After the final team joins and drafts are complete and you will be notified by email. Be sure to set your lineup, strategy and team details if you haven't done so already.
4. FINAL ROSTER SIZE -- When the games begin, the roster limit will be set to a final 26. You MUST HAVE AT LEAST 11 POSITIONAL PLAYERS (NON-PITCHERS). If you do not, the webmaster must make changes to your roster in order to play the season. You will be aloud to move any 2 players each season to their secondary position without any penalty or reducing your WAR. You may move any 2 starting pitcher to a RP position land their pitch count will be set at 40.
5. STARTING PITCHERS -- It is highly recommended you carry five starters. Starters typically need four games to recover, and tired pitchers will suffer on the mound. We will use a 5 man rotation. ** You will be able to change 1 pitcher from RP to SP if they have more than 85 innings.** This is to keep in line with the auto type leagues.
6. TRANSACTIONS, FREE AGENCY, ETC -- Note in budget-draft leagues, there are no trades . Again, I urge all owners to be sure and draft 2 position players for each position.
7. SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT -- NOTE THERE IS NO SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT IN FAVORITE TEAMS BUDGET DRAFT LEAGUES.
8. MINOR LEAGUES -- You have 5 spots in your minors.
9. TRADING -- No trading in this league
10. PLAYER HEALTH AND FATIGUE--This league will not be using fatigue or injuries.
11. SANDBAGGING -- Do not attempt to place players outside of their primary or secondary positions, or you will see a high error rate. A non-catcher playing catcher will allow your opponent to steal bases at will. Sandbag at your own risk!
12. TIEBREAKERS -- Head-to-head match up will be used where possible, otherwise team with highest Power Ranking wins. In case of more than two teams, Power Ranking will be used. (The only time a tie-breaker is NOT used is if a wild card is tied with a division winner. In that case, the division winner gets the higher seed.) Keep in mind, whenever head-to-head can be used, it will trump Power Ranking. (Example: two teams tie for division, and a third team ties those other two for best record. First, head-to-head is used to determine division winner. Then, head-to-head for the division winner is used to determine #1 seed and home team in all championship games.
13. SCHEDULED OFF DAYS -- Teams will be one day off every 10 days and three days off before the post-season starts. The wild-card game winner gets one day off after the wild-card game, which means other playoffs teams will get a full five days rest before their first games. Playoff teams will be granted a day off after each series, and two days off before the World Series. Teams that win their first round faster than the other series will be given as many extra days off as it takes the other series to finish.
14. POST-SEASON -- Six teams will be invited to the play-offs. The Division winners will get first round byes and the next 2 teams with the best records in each division, will go into the wild card round. . All rounds are seven games. Division winners, regardless of record will always be seated as home team.
15. QUIT LEAGUE -- Once a season starts, owners are asked not to quit the league until the season has completed.
16. NEXT SEASON --This is NOT a keeper league, all players will be removed from their roster a few days after the World Series is over. The league champ and award winners will be recorded in the user details. A draft will be conducted with draft positions to be determined by the overall season records. The League Champion will always draft last. Please post your team choices in the league chatbox as well as sending me a message of your choice for the up coming season.
17. Other rules will be added if a need arises.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
