WAR/FIRE
This league will use the new WAR formula in place of fire
PLAYOFFS - Updated as of 1924
-League Championship Series: Divisional winners will face off in the League Championship Series. Homefield will be based on overall record. Series will be best of 5 in 2-2-1 format. If there's a tie for division winner, there will be a one-game play-in with homefield going to the team with the better head-to-head record. If that's tied, it goes to team with better overall run differential.
-World Series: Team with best record will have homefield advantage. In the event of a tied record, run differential will determine homefield. Series will be best of 7 in 2-3-2 format.
-Tie Breakers:
In the event of a tie for division title, tiebreaker will be head-to-head record, then run differential head-to-head, then overall run differential. No day off beforehand
TEAM MANAGEMENT
-Every team will have a 35-man roster 25 majors 10 minors
-If a team is over on players on opening day they will be given a couple days to correct. If it's not taken care of the Commish office will correct it however I see fit.
-4 man pitching rotation until the 1950s or 60s
-Teams may "buy out" remaining years of as many contracts as they want. Buy-out is full cost of the value of the contract, spread equally (rounded up if necessary) over up to 10 years.
-Owners may extend contracts at will. This can be done in the final season of a player's contract by using the "Sign Player" option on their player card. No action by the Commish is necessary.
TRADES
-Trades are unlimited until the deadline
-Picks can be traded up to 2 years in advance
-I do not envision a trade committee unless it gets out of hand
PROGRESSIONS
-Players progress till 28 and decline at 32
RETIREMENTS
-Players retire at age 40 if not signed to contract. Once they become a free agent at age 40 or later they will be retired unless they played longer in real life such as Julio Franco or Phil Niekro
IMPORTS & DRAFT
-Drafts will be 2 rounds.
-Real-life rookies will be imported each year and make up the draft pool.
-Batters must have 125 at-bats
-Pitchers must have 35 innings
-Each year after the draft, batters with fewer than 300 at-bats and starters with fewer than 150 innings will have their stats doubled. NOTE: This means your players may have their stats doubled in more than one year.
POSITION SWAPS
-You can swap guys’ primary and secondary positions during the off-season.
TWO-WAY PLAYERS
-Players may be switched from pitcher to batter or vice-versa once in their career. Their contract will carry over for how many ever years and dollars it's at when the switch occurs.
MINORS TAGS
-You may tag players on your own using the Manage Tags function. These players will remain on your roster through their age 26 season (tag will be removed during their age-26 season) or until they appear in a game.
REAL STATS YEARS
-You may choose to change a player's real stats to the prior season's statistics. The deadline to do so will be the trade deadline. Note that you may change real stats to years below the 300 at-bats/150 innings for starters, but those stats will be doubled in the off-season after the draft.
Due to the stats of the era, outrageous real stats will be adjusted to be more realistic, such as batting averages no higher than .420 through the 1940s.
TANKING
-Please no tanking. Do not put good players in the minors unless they are injured. You may of course keep prospects in the minors until you are ready to sign them.
AWARDS
-Cy Young
-MVP
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
