League Rules
League Rules**This will be a 24 team league. The league will be structured so there is a NFC and a AFC Conferences. There will be 3 divisions in each conference, 4 teams in the East, 4 teams in the central, and 4 teams in the West. There will be a 22 game regular season, plus playoffs. Teams will play twice against all other teams in their conference. There will be no interleague play. Each owner in the league will run two teams. One team in the AFC and one team in the NFC.
1. ROSTERS-- Each team will consist of players from two real life seasons. Our first season will be 1970/2000. At the beginning of the the next season, all players will be progressed by 1 year. Season 2 will be 1971/2001, and so on. All players will retire the year that they retired in real life. Rosters will need to be cut down to 60 players, including Offensive & Defensive Lines, prior to the first game of the season.
1. DRAFT AND IMPORTS-- At the beginning of each season, each team will be real life progressed by 1 year. Then the next seasons players, who do not already exist in the league, will be imported to the team that they played with in real life. The new players that played with a team not represented in our league will be imported into the free agent pool. Prior to the start of each season there will be a 4 round supplemental draft of the free agents, one round per day. Draft order will be determined by the previous season standings (see "Tiebreaker" section below) regardless of play-off out come. A player will remain on the team they were imported to, or drafted by, until the player is dropped, traded, or retires.
IMPORTANT: The option of changing an existing team to one that is not already represented will not be allowed in this league.
** NOTE: Sometimes a player misses a season in the middle of their career and returns the next year to a new team. If this happens, the player will be put back on the team they were on before dropping off, unless the player was dropped or traded. It is easy to miss someone in this situation so please let me know if I do miss it.
2. DRAFTING OFFENSE AND DEFENSE-- Offensive and defensive linemen will be imported / drafted individually by each team.
3. TEAM DETAILS -- Team details will be locked and not allowed to be changed.
3. SEASON START -- After the final round of the supplemental draft has completed the Commish will set a deadline for when owners will need to have their rosters down to 60. The Commish will drop players from any rosters over 60 after the deadline. At which time the first game of the season will run. There will be 22 games in a season with 24 hours between each game.
4. TEAM TRAINING -- We will use the team training option in this league. A player can stay on training for 3 days at a time.
8. TRANSACTIONS, TRADES, FREE AGENCY, ETC. -- There will be no free agency in this league. The will be four supplement draft rounds each season after imports. Trades are allowed in this league, but will be turned off prior to the playoffs. Commish reserves the right to overturn any trade made in the league. Offensive and defensive players can be traded in this league. There is no trading between teams that are owned by the same owner.
9. INJURIES -- There will be no injuries used in this league.
10 TIEBREAKERS -- Head-to-head match up will be used where possible, otherwise team with highest Power Index wins. In case of more than two teams, Power Index will be used. If further tiebreaking is needed, point differential will be used.
11. SCHEDULED OFF DAYS -- There are no bye weeks in this league.
12. POST-SEASON -- Division winners will be ranked 1-3 in their respective conferences. The three best non-division winners in each conference will be wild card teams, and will be ranked 4 - 6 in their respective conferences. Play-off seeding will be determined by W-L record (see "Tiebreaker" section above). The highest seed in each play-off matchup will be the home team, regardless of their records. If the two Super Bowl teams have the same seeding, then the team with the higher power ranking will be the home team. Teams will get re-seeded so the best team plays the lowest available seed in the second round and all subsequent rounds. First and second seeds in each conference will receive a BYE in round 1 of the playoffs.
Round 1: Wild Card Round
Round 2: Divisional Round
Round 3: Conference Championship
Round 4: Super Bowl
14. POST-SEASON AWARDS -- MVP and DPoY will be awarded at the end of each season, before play-offs, based on Pennant Chase rankings throughout the season. Division Winners and Conference Champion will be awarded a star icon, Super Bowl champ will be awarded a trophy icon.
15. QUITTING THE LEAGUE-- Please be a good sports and do not quit the league in the middle of a season. Please wait until you teams are out, or the season is over.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
