League Rules
1947 League RulesNo contracts. No Yankees. Put your desired team in the chatbox. First come, first served
You start with the team’s 1947 roster, with every player with at least 50 AB and 25 IP. Beginning with 1948 imports, all imports and stat changes must meet new minimums: 100 AB or 35 IP. Players progress through age 28, plateau from 29 - 32, and regress starting at age 33.
The league will contain 12 teams.
Most of the teams will make the playoffs, with a staggered format: some teams will get a bye in the first round: this enables more teams to make the playoffs, and helps prevent the best teams from getting eliminated in the first round by a team their owner believes to be inferior.
Beginning prior to the 1947 season, and each year thereafter, there will be a draft. Prior to 1947, it will be a 2-round draft, based on the perceived team strength, as perceived by PC. Prior to all subsequent years, it will be a 1-round draft, based on inverse order of the previous season's record. Undrafted team's players will populate the draft (except for the Yankees), and free agents will still be available after the draft – method to be announced.
Unlimited trades, unlimited stat changes (100 AB, 35 IP minimum), and full imports.
4 man rotation, 26 on ML roster, 35 on franchise roster. 11 players (incl. 2 catchers), 9 p minimum. Expect 162 regular season games.
In case of conflict, players belong to the team where they had the most AB or IP. If there are any issues about which team a player is on, it must be raised before the season starts. Once games begin, and a player has "been in uniform" for a game for a team, the right to appeal is quashed.
SP can be switched to RP each offseason (no change to stamina). Primary and secondary positions can be switched, if the player played half his games that season, or at least one-third of his games in his career, at the secondary position. Also, DH can be switched with the secondary position if the player has a fielding percentage.
Making the playoffs: Seed playoff teams by record. If teams tie for a playoff spot:
⇒ If both teams would be “in”, use head to head record as a tiebreaker.
⇒ If one is in, the other is out, 1 game playoff (@ head 2 head winner)
Playoffs elaborated: 8(!) teams make the playoffs:
a) The top 4 seeds get a bye in the first round. 5 hosts 8, and 6 hosts 7 in a best-of-3 round.
b) reseeding occurs: 3 hosts 6, and 4 hosts 5 (1 and 2 get a bye). Best-of-5.
c) reseeding occurs: 1 hosts 4, 2 hosts 3 -- best-of-7 round.
d) World Series: best-of-7.
In addition to a World Series winner, as in every 2+ team league, there will be a Manager of the Year Award announced, for the owner with the most combined wins.
After game 140, waivers and trades will be forbidden until after the World Series.
In order to discourage "tanking", there will be a lottery for the first 4 draft choices. An owner (it was BabeRuth21 last time) will collect the letter choices from the owners (worst record gets first pick, and so forth), and will forward the choices to me in a message with subject LOTTERY LETTER CHOICES so I do not open it by accident. I will then post the draft order before opening the email. If one of the teams in the lottery is mine, I will accept whatever letter the other do not choose.
MY BASIC EXPECTATIONS OF EACH OWNER:
⇒ Your commitment is season to season. When you join, you will be expected to actively run your team until the end of the season, which is when the regular season ends for non-playoff teams, or when your playoff team is eliminated.
⇒ Actively running your team means that you read messages once per day, meet all deadlines, and communicate any difficulties to the commissioner. If you will be away, and unable to get your message, give the commissioner advance notice. Inactivity for ten (10) days, or repeated failure to meet deadlines, may result in your being booted from the league.
⇒ Read and be familiar with the rules immediately upon joining: it may affect your desire to be in the league, or your desire to pick a certain team.
Please keep all conversations clean
