MFGA Legends League Rules 1890-2024
1890 - 2024 Season / Genre Longevity
In the next phase of SIMBALL we will explore the whole SIMBALL world of baseball. I will pay for each season if the Simball fee comes up and donate $2 to PayPal for History and continual Seasons. If you all can help me with that you can Venmo me $5 @Kirk-BraggFences
Big boost Stadium is highly favorable to a certain type of player, resulting in a significant increase in their performance. For example, a small ballpark with short fences will provide a big boost to power hitters, leading to more home runs.Mild boost Stadium offers a slight advantage that is noticeable but not dramatic. For example, a ballpark with a forgiving outfield might provide a mild boost to the batting averages of all players. Unlike a big boost, this effect is less likely to significantly sway the outcome of a game.
No effect Stadium is a neutral environment that neither favors nor hinders any particular playing style. These parks are typically average in all their dimensions and do not provide any significant statistical bump or drawback for hitters or pitchers.
Mild disadvantage Stadium presents a slight, but noticeable, hindrance to a player's performance. For example, a park with deep alleys or a high fence in one area might be a mild disadvantage for power hitters.
Big disadvantage Stadium is a nightmare for certain types of players, resulting in a significantly depressed statistical performance. For example, a pitcher-friendly park with long outfield fences and tricky wind currents can be a big disadvantage for power hitters, causing many would-be home runs to become deep flyouts.
Contracts
2019 - $100m budget for signing 6 players off your previous teams season. This will be a 1 year contracts for all players, any unsigned players off your team that have been signed for longer than 1 season will be considered Rule 5 players.2017 - $125m budget for signing 8 players off your previous teams season. This will be a 1 year contracts for all players, any unsigned players off your team that have been signed for longer than 1 season will be considered Rule 5 players.
2016 - $145m budget for signing 10 players off your previous teams season. This will be a 1 year contracts for all players, any unsigned players off your team that have been signed for longer than 1 season will be considered Rule 5 players.
Rule 5
After each season there will be a 2 players taken in the Rule 5 draft and those players can be taken off any team that has an unsigned player who was not contracted the next season but played a full season and was under contract for 1 year. Rule 5 players can have a longevity of 2 seasons past their initial drafted contract with the original team. Rule 5 Year 1 and Rule 5 Year 2 tags will be applied. After the 2nd year that player will be retired or not offered back in the league.MINOR LEAGUE PLAYER
You will have 2 players designated as minor leaguers when playing each season at the end of the season you can still keep them as hold overs and sign them to a 1 year 1 million dollar contract. 'MINOR LEAGUER' status they must be signed to a MLB contract, bench players also qualify for this mark if on the MLB roster if they surpass the following criteria.MINOR LEAGUER RESTRICTIONS FOR SERVICE TIME
--> Hitters - - 80 AB's
--> Relief Pitchers - - 25 IP
--> Starting Pitchers - - 60 IP
--> Max Dwar = 1.50
--> Max Fire = 30
2017 Roster Sizes after each complete season:
Total 10 players (6 signees, 2 Rule 5 and 2 Minor Leaguers)Moving into new genre each team must designate a closer for SV's records to be kept.
Minor Leagues:
There will only be a 5 round Supplemental Draft for bench players each season moving forward. These players will not be signed over to next season, if they are not signed they will return to free agency. 2 minor league players will get a Superstar progression at the end of the season.International Players
We will have 2-5 players influxed each season from the Japanese LeaguesSeason Import Rules
Each season we will import a genre the whole genre or year. What that means is 220 min. AB's you cannot boost a player unless they have 280 min. AB's. Pitchers you can boost SP as long as they have a min. of 120 innings pitched. RP you can boost as long as they have 20 IP.Park Dimensions
Moving forward from 2004 - 2022 we will now only use the none effect, mild disadvantage and mild advantage there will be no more 'big' advantage/disadvantage to curtail the already boosted players we use with our managers.Adjusted Stat Levels
Our offense is getting worse with our pitching up, on that note the target OBP will be adjusted from .330 to .365 moving forward to induce more offense. Star hitters will be 90, Star SP's will be 92 and Star Relievers 92.Progressions Adjustment
After each season all team owners will choose 4 players for 'S' Superstar Progression, 4 players for 'A' All Star progression everyone else will be 'C' Classic progression. Each season all players entering the genre will have a 'C' Classic Progression coming in unless you designate them after each season.Progressions
· Players will progress up to age 30
· Players will regress at age 32, meaning a 2 year peak.
· Players will progress according to their potential rating, all player imports will now be C for Classic imports with teams adjusting them during the flip and after contracts have been signed.
· Goal is to keep player potential close to these baselines

PROGRESSION NOTES AND DESCRIPTIONS
Hitters
Classic - Uses the classic progression system, which means player will increase steadily until peak age (as determined by your league) and then decline steadily once past peak. There are a few exceptions (which apply to ALL potential ratings): Players with less than 100 real-stats at-bats won't progress at all. Players with less than 300 at bats will progress much slower. Players who have little to no speed won't ever get "faster" and players will stop getting "faster" at age 26 regardless. Age to Peak: 30, Age to Regress: 32, Age to Retire 40 is recommendedSuperstar - Players will become better overall hitters in all categories: power, discipline, average, and they will increase faster and higher than the classic progression. This level is for the true stud prospects. The decline is generally slower, although they will still decline past peak age.
All Star - This is closer to the classic progression, except it focuses more on plate discipline than power numbers. Hitters will get better at taking walks and making contact, with slight power increases. They will slowly decline past peak age.
Pitchers
Classic - Uses the classic progression system, which means player will increase steadily until peak age (as determined by your league) and then decline steadily once past peak. There are a few exceptions (which apply to ALL potential ratings): Players with less than 20 IP won't progress at all. SP and RP will obviously progress with increases that make sense for their roles.Superstar - Pitchers will become better overall in all categories: power, stamina, etc. and they will increase faster and higher than the classic progression. This level is for the true stud prospects. The decline is generally slower, although they will still decline past peak age.
All Star - This is closer to the classic progression, except it focuses more on stamina and control, rather than power (ie, strikeouts). They will slowly decline past peak age.
Player Boosts adjustment
2017 Boosting there will not be anymore boosting of players to finish the genre. You will need to use progressions. Last 10 years of this genre I would like to propose a balance boosting system for all teams instead of manager attributes. Here is the proposal...Right now we will adjust it to 3 hitters and 3 pitchers until we finish this genre and adopt the new adjustment in the next genre.World Series Champion and Runner Up

--> Progressions will be determined off each owner submitting hitters and pitchers to be boosted.
BOOST RESTRICTIONS PITCHERS Each season has seen some interesting RP's basically taking over SP's roles. With that being said I have implemented a RP and SP max throws which will allow for a long reliever now implemented and days rest for starting pitchers to make it more realistic and build a bull pen.
SP max number of pitches is 125 with 4 days rest
RP max number of pitches is 30 with 1 day rest

MFGA Legends League Rules 2022
1997 Rule changes
Trying to figure out a way to eliminate the spreadsheet and put more ownership in contracts. Lower minor league totals and easier control of the flip.Contracts: Each owner will now have a $150m budget with manager incentive bonuses which could take you as high as $155m depending on managers.
Contract Budget Incentive Program: If you place 6th - 8th each season you will now be eligible for a 3 year $2m budget ceiling bump. Max is 3 season bumps to total $6m. Once your 3 year term is up on your $2m it falls off. Contract bumps will be made at the end of each season and before signing contracts. This incentive will be introduced in 2011
Contract Signee Adjustment: Each owner now can sign their own player for 1 year at a time and extend them based on their contractual value. No incentives will be introduced as is contract. So if Dave Hollins is $16m he will be $16m every season you sign him. Only change to him would be his incentives with manager updates and progression/regression depending on age.
Contract Signee Adjustment: 2012 and beyond Looking at now having everyone with a $162m dollar budget with 3 players getting $1m minor salary which puts each team at $165m to spend on 12 players.
Progressions Adjustment: 2012 and beyond You will choose 5 players for 'S' Superstar Progression, 5 players for 'A' All Star progression everyone else will be 'C' Classic progression.
Player Boosts adjustment for 2012 and beyond Last 12-13 years of this genre I would like to propose a balance boosting system for all teams instead of manager attributes. Here is the proposal...
1. Hitters - each team will get to boost 4 hitters
2. Pitchers - each team will get to boost 4 pitchers

Players will retire at age 40, unless signed contract status.
Rule 5 players are who they are and whatever progression status they are is their progression
Additionally, subpar players may retire earlier if free agency pool begins to grow
Minor Leagues: Every team will now have a 3 player minor league system with built in values and play time restrictions. Minor league players will be tagged 'minors' and signed for a max 3 year deal until they come off as their original value. These minor league players must be designated at the beginning of each season and can be drafted each season. Qualifications for a minor leaguer are as follows:
Batter - (70 or less) - - Max 70 AB's per season
Pitcher - (60 or less) - - SP (40 IP) , RP (25 IP)
Rule 5: Every season we will have a Rule 5 draft or roster sign depending on numbers and place in the league. Final 3 who do not make the playoffs can extend a player or rule 5 a player if they want to.
International Players: We will have 5 players influxed each draft moving forward
Season Import Rules Each season we will import a genre the whole genre. What that means is 220 min. AB's you cannot boost a player unless they have 280 min. AB's. Pitchers you can boost SP as long as they have a min. of 120 innings pitched. RP you can boost as long as they have 45 IP.
Park Dimensions: Moving forward from 2004 - 2022 we will now only use the none effect, mild disadvantage and mild advantage there will be no more 'big' ad/disadvantage to curtail the already boosted players we use with our managers.
Adjusted Stat levels:Our offense is getting worse with our pitching up, on that note the target OBP will be adjusted from .330 to .335 moving forward to induce more offense. Star hitters will be 92, Star SP's will be 90 and Star Relievers 90.
Season / Genre Longevity
Take a look at a snapshot of what is about to take place in this absolute in depth league of MFGA legends SIMBALL. What am I looking at for making 40 years of a league work and stay interesting, unstable, fun, add some dynamics and throw some money in this to make it work.1. Genre length will be 40 seasons.
2. Genre start dates will be a 1970-1980 initial player draft pool. This will combine all players from that time frame compiled into an initial draft
3. Shooting for parody from previous owners patterns of play, how they draft (adjusted draft model for our league to help with parody), how they play and how they have finished in the past, how much do they check their team.
4. Trying to keep the league interesting with international draft, minor league development, selecting a manager to run your team and reflect their style of play in to your team, contracts with no limits of how long you can own them; however, contract base and increases will occur after each season
5. Going deeper with ownership of your team, minor league development with contracts, adding managers to run your team while you own it, free agency options, rule 5 selection starting in 1984, keepers with no max, retirement of older players, pitchers who are older can move to the bullpen and have some rule changes for them.
1981 - 2022 will be our 42 year window to complete. This will take many years to complete so dedication to changing trends needs to be honored. This includes sandbagging, trade integrity etc.
Season fee will be $4 per season. Commitment will be $20 to get us started for 5 seasons. $2 per season will go for pennant chase donations for on going season archive. With this $2 we should be able to archive the league and keep it rolling. All money needs to be paid via Venmo and set in an account for easy transfer.

Freeway series winner will have the option of 5 or taking an International Player next season in the 6th draft position.
Round 1 and 2 will be NFL draft with Round 3 - ? as a serpentine style draft. This will be the format for all seasons
RE-DRAFT
12 Signed players - 4 Minor league contracts = 16 players before each draft
Rounds 1-2 = NFL style draft with the lowest up to champion (18 players)
Rounds 3-8 = Serpentine draft (24 players)
Rounds 9-17 = Auto Supplemental - Owner selected picks (pre-ranked players) or auto picks (33 players total on roster = 25 mlb with 8 minors)
New Season Influx:
C - 30
1B - 30
2B - 30
SS - 30
3B - 30
DH - 10
OF - 60
SP - 60
RP - 80
Supplemental Draft notes:
A time will be set for the supplemental draft - once we are ready to roll I will see that you are online if you are I will give you 30-60sec to make your selection, if you are not online then the auto pick will occur and we will go to the next person. If you are online and it takes longer than 30-60 sec you could also get an auto pick selection.
ROSTERS
25 active with 10 minor leaguers, you will be able to move them up and down as you please to work your team.--> Starting Pitching Rotations will be based on 5 man. Days off will be factored into the playing schedule with 4 days rest for SP's.
--> Rosters will be the 13/12 format with 13 position players and 12 pitchers rostered. Owners should be aware of compliance with roster status. Please monitor your team to stay in compliance.
--> Position changes are not allowed they are who they are in that season you keep them or draft them.
--> INJURIES - this genre will be a max of 7 days for pitchers and hitters
--> Minor league to major league will have no penalty; however, service time (AB's and IP) will affect status and playing time
DUPLICATES AND RETIREMENT
There will be no duplicate players each season; however, if you protect a player that player as is when protected will be the player in the following season. 1985 Pete Rose if signed will the the 1985 player until not protected, released or retired you will not be able to use the 1986 Pete Rose if you keep him in the season we play if it is 1986. Also Pete's age will go up 1 year every season just like everyone in the league regardless of boosters etc...if Pete Rose turns 39 he would be removed from the league due to reaching our 38 year old retirement window.
PITCHER RULES FOR AGING SP'S - - At the age of 32 a SP may be converted to a RP. This conversion will result in IP reducing by 70%, WHIP reducing 20%, Hits going down by 10-20%, walks stay about the same, strikeouts go up about 10%, Wins going down by 1/2, Losses going down by 1/2. This is done manually so these numbers are relative. There will not be any RP's being converted to SP's.
INJURIES
We will move to 7 days MAX--> Players will fatigue during the season plan for games off just like in real life.
--> Max injury for a position player is 7 days/sims
--> Max injury for a pitcher player is 7 days/sims
ADJUSTED STAT LEVELS
Each player has an overall rating, which is a result of comparing his stats to the rest of your league. This helps the sim understand which players in the in the league are the best of the best. Players in the 90s are the stars - if you have the right volume of players in your league, you should find that you have about three star hitters per team, one star ("ace") SP and one or two star RPs. The suggested numbers below reflect these goals and it's recommended you use these suggestions or close to them.If you're finding that you have too much offense in your league, you want to reduce the number of star hitters (ie, raise the Min Rank of Hitters) and/or lower the Min Rank of Star Pitchers.
If you're finding you don't have enough offense in your league, you want to increase the number of star hitters (ie, lower the Min Rank of Hitters) and/or raise the Min Rank of Star Pitchers.
First, you can modify your league's target OBP. Most league's naturally end up with about a .325 league-wide OBP. If you raise this, it will tell the sim to boost offense. If you lower this, it will improve pitching. You can see the impact of your change because it will alter hitter's and pitcher's eOBP (estimated OBP) on their real stats card.
Target OBP: .330
Second question, do you want to use pitcher's homeruns allowed? If yes, homers will generally go down since the odds of hitting a homer will be based on both the hitter's and pitcher's stats. If no, the odds of hitting a homer are solely based off the hitter's stats. No we will not use homeruns allowed
Here are your current settings:
Min Rank of Star Hitters: 88
Min Rank of Star Starters: 88
Min Rank of Star Relievers: 88
SIM SCHEDULE
Sims will happen close to each hour and a designated time frame. There may be times where we will adjust the schedule, but this will occur only in advance.Days off Schedule: 10, 18, 30, 40, 45, 65, 83, *100, 120, 130, 150, 156
FREE AGENTS
There will be free agents and those free agents will be comprised of the year we are playing from the left over draft. If, we are in 1991 and we have a free agent draft those players left over will be put back into the pool. You an add them after each sim. At the end of the season your roster is final so you will not be able to pick up a free agent after game 162. Free agents at the end of each season will be deleted and a new pool will come in the following year with updated player age and development.--> Free Agents can be placed on MLB rosters or Minor league rosters at your discretion.
--> Free Agents that are in the minors will qualify them as a Minor Leaguer and follow that labeled rules. (AB's and IP)
TRADES
Preseason - Teams can make up to 2 trades before the season. During Season - Teams can make trades at any time up to 3 trades per season. This gives a total of 5 possible trades during the season for each team. Trade deadline is game 130 after that time no trades can be made. All trades have to be approved by commissioner to determine contract status as well as compliant within the rules.-->Trades can always take place from players in that season and who are not under contract yet or initial contract status. If, it is 1984 and you draft a player from 1984 those players are fair game for trades under the guidelines above. Minor and Major league players are up for trading. For contracted player trades please read below.
**Note - - you can trade picks as long as it is a pick for pick to equal out the next season draft.
Incentives for trading are going to be determined by mostly in faith or player for player trades and draft picks for positioning and better players. Please no unethical trades in terms of 'give me so and so and I will scratch your back in later seasons.'
Contract Trading - After game 100 or All Star Break you are allowed 1 contract player trade from the previous year, where you go over budget for a playoff run if you so choose with another owner. You cannot trade two contract players under contract from the previous year only 1. If they were a drafted player from the current season you are free to trade as many of those as needed as long as there is no signs of dumping. You will have to be under budget heading into next season with 16 contracts
INTERNATIONAL PLAYER CLAIMS
This is a new feature for the upcoming league. Owners/Teams are always looking to get an edge over the other teams and find diamonds in the rough. After the first 100 games of the season we will have our international draft. Teams who are ranked by the power rankings 5-8 from the previous season will be eligible for a mid season claim on an international player, rankings, contract, age will all be considered if kept. Once claimed they will be on your roster and you will need to drop a player. Allows stat boost for one slumping hitter and pitcher. Max days player can stay in slumpbuster is 5 calendar day (these are calendar days, not simmed games). If we get 10 sim games in on Monday that player would only have 10 games to boost out of slump, this would be only applied for 10 simmed games. Please choose only one player per day that is eligible do not switch players during the course of a calendar day. Give one slumping player on your team extra time with the batting coach to help him break out of his slump. 1. The player must have at least 50 at bats in the season. 2. The player must be hitting under .220 in the season. Once you choose your player, he can stay in this mode until you choose a different player (even if his average climbs over .220). Keep in mind, if his average climbs above .220 and you select a new player, you won't be able to choose the previous player until his average drops back under .220. **Note, this league allows players to be in Slump Buster for 5 calendar days. Give a struggling pitcher some special attention in hopes of turning his season around. 1. Must not be available to pitch for two days (starters). 2. The player must have at least 25 innings pitched. 3. The player must have an ERA over 5.00. Once you choose your player, he can stay in this mode until you choose a different player (even if his ERA drops below 5.00). Keep in mind, if you select a new player, you won't be able to choose the previous player until his ERA goes back over 5.00. MVP AND CY YOUNG Formula MVP formula - Palmer/Thorn linear weights Batting Runs formula (modified slightly) from The Hidden Game of Baseball (1B*.56) + (HR*1.40) + (2B*.80) + (3B*1.02) + (RBI*.50) + (BB*.33) + (HBP*.33) + (SB*.40) - (CS*.10) - ((AB-H)*.25)) CY formula - James/Neyer Cy Young Predictor formula (modified slightly) from The Guide to Pitchers ((5*IP/9)-ER) + (SO/12) + (SV*2.5) - Blown Saves + Shutouts + CG + ((W*5)-(L*2)) SANDBAGGING Just understand what this is, a position player who's main position is (1B) and their secondary position is let's say in small parenthesis (OF) this means their going to play their best at the main position and 'can' play ok or well enough at their secondary position, but not as strong. Sandbagging is taking that 1B and moving him to catcher...if you do that you run the risk of everyone in the league stealing on him and probably going to miss pitches, he will probably hit for you, but you run the risk of him hurting your team. Just a heads up when deciding on lineups.
International Claim Options - Fire is 10 for Position players / Fire is 18 for Pitchers / 110 Stamina for SP / 35 Stamina for RP / +.3 for Dwar / Salaries are determined by PC Rank once imported / International Players cannot be signed for minor contract
According to our owner rankings these owners will be eligible for a claim in 1980.
1987 mid season international claim draft and Rule 5 draft order
1.
After 1980 let's say 1981 comes in the 'Power Rankings' from the league in 1980 will be used to determine the international claims in 1981. The pool will be random; however, I will try to influx 3 position players and 3 pitchers depending on stats...the left over player from the draft that is not selected will be deleted.
Salaries for the international players will follow the criteria down the page under contracts and values of each international player once stat adjustments take place once the player is drafted and is on the new owner's roster. MANAGERS and MINOR LEAGUES
Each team will draft a manager to oversee development of their team.
This manager will oversee minor league player boosts at the end of the season for minor league developing players and before final contracts are to be signed. You will then decide to protect 4 minor league players who will be adjusted according to their boosts and kept for the following season under a $1 minor league contract.
Managers will also have certain qualities to help you MLB players and team moving forward which will take place before the new season begins.
Manager salary cap raise is only a one time raise based on which manager you draft. If you draft a manager who has a $2m raise to cap it is a one time raise not recurring. If base cap is $200m then your cap will be $202m
If, you have 3 losing seasons either in a row or until you get another 3 losing seasons you can then remove your manager and replace them.
Each team must hire a Manager to run their team. The Manager provides individual perks for each team.
--> Manager can be hired for up to 6 years. First year 1980 is a zero year and does not count toward the 6 year window.
--> Managers have to be signed to minimum of 4 years and cannot be fired, you commit and no firing of your manager during their 1-6 year contract window.
--> If, you have 3 losing seasons either in a row or until you get another 3 losing seasons you can then remove your manager and replace them.
--> Manager must be signed to a PC Contract via the Google sheet with a list of how long they have been signed
--> No 1 year rentals for Managers. When a Managers contract expires they are released to Free Agency just like a player and are available to be claimed on during free agency for the next season.
--> Manager drafts only occur when someone lets their manager contract run out. EXAMPLE, if you decide to sign Mike Scioscia before the season you can choose to keep him 4-6 years when Scioscia's contract runs out then you can select an open manager from the list below.
--> There is an advantage to hiring a different manager every couple years. This allows you to gain a new perk for your team or to gain perks that will help a changing situation your team is facing. A team poised for post season play may like to find a manager that provides perks to post season play. A rebuilding team may like to find a manager that works well with rookies. This prevents teams from getting a new manager every year to gain new perks quickly. Manager Perks will be used before the beginning of each season after the free agent draft from season we are in.
Manager Draft Order based off owner rankings:
1. Tom Geary - Bobby Cox 5 years (1980-1984)

PROGRESSION NOTES AND DESCRIPTIONSHitters
Classic - Uses the classic progression system, which means player will increase steadily until peak age (as determined by your league) and then decline steadily once past peak. There are a few exceptions (which apply to ALL potential ratings): Players with less than 100 real-stats at-bats won't progress at all. Players with less than 300 at bats will progress much slower. Players who have little to no speed won't ever get "faster" and players will stop getting "faster" at age 26 regardless. Age to Peak: 28, Age to Regress: 29, Age to Retire 38
Superstar - Players will become better overall hitters in all categories: power, discipline, average, and they will increase faster and higher than the classic progression.
Unpredictable - As is often the case in baseball, you never where a prospect may go. One year he may get better, the next year he may get worse. Or a combination of both in different categories. Or he may just stay flat. He is most likely to decline past peak age, but he may stay flat or even improve.
Flat - This prospect will mostly stay flat - he is who he is and he's not going to change much.Pitchers
Classic - Uses the classic progression system, which means player will increase steadily until peak age (as determined by your league) and then decline steadily once past peak. There are a few exceptions (which apply to ALL potential ratings): Players with less than 20 IP won't progress at all. SP and RP will obviously progress with increases that make sense for their roles.
Superstar - Pitchers will become better overall in all categories: power, stamina, etc. and they will increase faster and higher than the classic progression. This level is for the true stud prospects. The decline is generally slower, although they will still decline past peak age.
All Star - This is closer to the classic progression, except it focuses more on stamina and control, rather than power (ie, strikeouts). They will slowly decline past peak age.

The set amount for contracts is 16 per season. The ceiling for signing 16 players will be $200m this will be the max cap for every team and will be the cap for the entire genre, UNLESS your owner has a stipulation for more cap room.
--> There will not be trading of cap money.
--> Your manager cap increase will be applied once the new season starts. So, if your cap is $200m and you owner has a $5m add to cap it will be $205 until your manager is released or duration of contract. If, you choose another owner who does not have a cap increase you will go back down to $200m. **Salary Cap increase for 1983 for all managers will be $200m
--> After season 3 Rule 5 picks will come online as an 18th keeper and will take you over the $195m threshold, you will then have 18 keepers after season 3 into season 4. More on Rule 5 check below.
Contract timeline:
--> 'Expiring Contracts' these are the players who will be eligible for Rule 5 selection after the season. If you see a player who has a $1m value those are released minor league players and will not be eligible for Rule 5 consideration.
--> 'Signed for Next Season' this is the area where you look into the future on what that player will be the following season, so if we are playing in 1985 this would be what the player will be in 1986. This is important as it must match the spreadsheet. Budget $200 | Spent | Remains
--> Baseline is the PC Contracts not the spreadsheet the PC Contracts will tell you who is expiring and what your next season contracts will look like with incentive roll overs. The total contract a player will be for the next season is already calculated on the PC Contracts for Next Season column. Your job is to match that contract with bonus incentives relating to your spreadsheet.
--> Reminder that a minor leaguer can be on the roster for 3 seasons max then you have to sign them to a $7m and $2m if they are less than 88 rank or $10m and $3m are 88 or more. You need to let know if they qualify and I will manually adjust them. This has to be communicated to me before the next season.
--> First - - let me know who to release to open up options to sign new players and review old contracts
--> Second - - Let me know who to extend a year or so to see their value on PC Contracts sheet
--> Third - - Get your 12 MLB guys signed for the next season and then input their value in the following year in your spreadsheet to see your progress. Add contract + bonus to monitor.
--> Fourth - - send me your 4 minor leaguers. If you have a budget of $190m Spent then I will sign your minor leaguers to their $1m value and you will have a $194m Spent due to $4m of minor league money. Do not panic if you use the whole let's say $200m and then you see $204m in you budget it's ok it is just minor league carryover money.
--> Fifth - - Once your budget matches PC in the Spreadsheet we will then have the Rule 5 draft which will be all expiring contracts minus the $1m minor leaguers who will be taken out of the league.
--> Sixth - - put your Rule 5 pick on your spreadsheet, we will then be ready for the next draft.
Spreadsheet Directions updated
--> Google Doc will be sent to your e-mail for you to share and work
--> You will work your team budget to stay within the framework of the max budget for each season
--> Once you start to place your players in the spreadsheet you can add their base contract for that season then add the incentive bonus + base for the next season to see their progression for the next season.
--> When budgets are due for the following season you need to work your spreadsheet to fit with adds, drops and extensions. Your drops need to be communicated to the me to allow for room on your Pennant Chase budget online.
--> Pennant Chase budget needs need to match your spreadsheet which will once you remove the drops from the Pennant chase budget.
--> Extensions will be limited to cap space and when the new budget comes in after game 1 of each season.
--> Questions and adjustments need to be communicated to the commish
MINOR LEAGUE PLAYER / MLB BENCH QUALIFICATIONS If, a player goes above these marks during their 'MINOR LEAGUER' status they must be signed to a MLB contract, bench players also qualify for this mark if on the MLB roster as well.
MINOR LEAGUER RESTRICTIONS FOR SERVICE TIME
--> Hitters - - 50 AB's
--> Relief Pitchers - - 15 IP
--> Starting Pitchers - - 20 IP
$4m for 4 Minor league development players (Max a player can be under a minor league contract is 2 seasons meeting each season requirements for MLB service time) once a minor league player reaches MLB qualified service time they must be kept or released at the end of the season signing an MLB contract.
Minor league contract to MLB contract
--> 87 rank to below = $7m with $2m increments once signed.
--> 88 rank to 100 = $10m with $3m increments once signed.
Minor League Qualifications
--> Must be drafted round 20 - 35 in a regular draft. In a next season draft each minor league player would qualify from rounds 19 - 35. When drafted comes clicking on the player and you can see their draft slot and round.
--> An MLB player under contract that gets dropped cannot sign a minor league contract they would be put back in the free agent pool or their next year person would be in the next draft.
--> No superstar of 88-100 can be a minor league player in any season
--> Minor league contracts will be signed at the end of the regular season. Once the playoffs start those minor league players are eligible to be used without restriction or service time.
--> Minor league players will be tagged minor league players.
MLB ACTIVE CONTRACTS
$190m for 12 MLB contracts. Contracts will be longevity; however, if or when you player reaches a point of retirement age (38 years old) or cannot be signed they must be released and if that player's new up-to-date player will replace them in the next season or they are out of the league completely. CONTRACT NOTE
- - A player's potential will have a slight impact on his salary ask (for those leagues that use contracts). So a superstar is going to want more because his upside is higher, whereas other ratings could ask for less than they typically might due to the fact they could stay flat or even regress. If, we lose track of a contract and have to reset them we will look at the spreadsheet or we will use the default model
Players will demand an annual increase in multi-year contracts. Contract demand based on rank, players demand based on rank (new way) instead of real stats (old way). Most salaries that are below $8m usually come in at $1m per, $10-14 usually $2m per and those above are around $3-5m per increase. You will just have to review each player to see their value and increases when it is negotiating time. PLAYER SALARY DEMAND MODEL
90-100 Rated = Base $15m + $5m per season increase
80-89 Rated = Base $12m + $4m per season increase
70-79 Rated = Base $10m + $3m per season increase
50-69 Rated = Base $8m + $2m per season increase
0-49 Rated = Base $6m + $1m per season increase
RULE 5 DRAFT
After season 3 we will instigate the Rule 5 draft so this will be in 1984. This is when a team has reached salary threshold with a player who will not be able to be signed or traded. Before season 3 if you drop a player due to This could include minor league players as well. We will then have our first Rule 5 draft where Rule 5 rankings will be based off POWER RANKINGS from the last 3 seasons via average. Teams can claim one rule 5 player for one extra season for a league Rule 5 amount of $0.Once that player is released the following season they are deleted. You will then choose another Rule 5 player the next season. If, there are not 8 players to be chosen the next season current Rule 5's will be used again or if there are let's say 5 Rule 5's available the next season only 5 owners would select them and the 3 remaining owners would vacated their Rule 5 for that season.PLAYOFFS
