League Rules

Welcome! This is a non-contract league.

Everyone will have 2 teams: an Eastern team and a Western team. We will draft teams: your Eastern draft spot will be the inverse of your Western draft spot. You will get the 2000 roster for your team (100 AB, 35 IP minimum), plus the 2001 imports who are not already in the league. For this first season, you can submit the name of any 2000 player that you want stat changed to 2001 – however, since the 2000 players have not been progressed, you will age any player by 1 year if you stat change them. You must submit these names by opening day – once the first pitch occurs, I will not make these stat changes. No limit to how many players you can stat change in this initial season.

In subsequent seasons, you will be allowed 3 stat changes per season. There is no draft, but there will be imports, and there will be waiver claims. Waiver claims will be the first 5 days of the regular season and then the rest of the free agents will be open to pick up until the end of the regular season when free agency is turned off for the playoffs.

Duplicate Players: In 2000, if a player is on 2 rosters, he will go to the team he played for "the most", as determined by AB and IP. For 2001, and subsequent imports, you will get any player (100 AB, 35 IP minimum) that is not already in the league.

Any issues/complaints about where a player belongs must be raised with me before first pitch. Once the season begins, all unraised claims will be considered to be waived.

League composition: There will be 10 owners, meaning 20 teams. Your teams won’t play each other until the World Series.

There will be one league with 4 5-team divisions, with 4 division winners and 4 wild cards making the playoffs (40%). 4 wild cards play a 3-game play-in (6 teams left.) 2 remaining wild cards and the worst 2 division winners meet: Best of 5 (4 teams left). Remaining 2 rounds are best of 7 -- this allows for more teams to make the playoffs, and more benefit to winning your division. Where division winners play wild card teams, the division winner will host (have more home games than the wild card team, regardless of # of wins.)

Ties: If teams tie for a playoff spot:

⇒ If both teams would be “in”, use head to head record as a tiebreaker.
⇒ If one is in, the other is out, 1 game playoff (@ head 2 head winner)

Teams: 26/40 rosters; 5 man rotation, 11 players (incl. 2 catchers), 9 p minimum. Minimums: 35 IP, 100 AB

⇒ You may not trade players between your teams. You may not release a player from one of your teams, then sign him on your other team. No player can play for both of your teams in the same season. This is a boot-able offense.

GENERAL RULES: Each offseason, you can switch a SP to RP based on need. You can switch a player’s primary and secondary positions if they played 50% or more games THAT season at their secondary position, or at least a third of their games for their career at their secondary position.

CONDUCT

Please keep all conversations clean
Please don't be rude to fellow owners
Please be active, if not active for 14 days you may be removed from the league
We all love baseball and that's why we're here. So Just have fun and enjoy!

OFF SEASON DUTIES:

Classic progression after world series. Players progress until age 28, players don't progress or regress from ages 28-31, and begin regressing at age 32. Players with less than 35 IP or 100AB will have their stats doubled.

Owners can choose 3 players to have their stats switched from last season’s progressed stats to the next season’s actual stats. Minimums for stat switching: 100 AB/35 IP. Message commissioner. Must be done before the new season begins.

Imports: Your next year’s players will be imported on your roster as long as they are not already in the league.

Trades (all season 99)

ELASTIC CLAUSE: I reserve the right to add any rules necessary to address problems as they arise.

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
