4. Overview:
-This league will have 2021 player stats, all rookies that come in will be real life prospects. every year there will be 2 former players from the past that will be added into the draft 1 hitter and 1 pitcher.
5. GM Expectations:
-All owners must be active. If more than 10 days without logging in you will be messaged. If after 14 days and no response then you will be booted. Its simple. If your gonna be away, please msg one of the commishes as to such.
- Tanking - no tanking allowed "you can rebuild' but if u have better players in minors than in majors thats tanking to get a high draft pick. i expect everyone to put there best team on the field, otherwise youll be warned once then booted.
6. Finances:
- each team will start with there real life 2021 salary caps. you can sign up to 40 players. Salary can be raised or reduced based on rewards, penalties, trades)
- You can trade salary but if u do u dont get it back. (trade 10 mil to another team then that other team gets a 10 mil raise in cap space and your team gets a 10 mil decrease in cap space going forward its not just for that season."
- Most you can go up to for cap space is $280 after that your capped out.
Rewards
Win world Series - $10
Win LCS - $6
Make Playoffs - $4
win over 100 Games - $2
Win GM of the Year - $2
Win CY Young - $1
Win MVP - $1
Win ROY - $1
-Penalties:
- If you dont get your team to 26 men in majors by opening day sim its a lost of 5 mil cap space.
- you can go over cap during offseason but if your not under cap by opening day you lose your 1st round draft pick which will go in a lottery draft to one of the 5 worst teams in league.
- If u have players in minors that are under contract that should be in majors it will be a cap hit of $2 a player (rookies not under contract are ok)
7. Contracts:
- Signing Contracts:
you can have up to 40 players under contract
- There will be NO Raises in this league
- Players with 1 year remaining will be free agents, we will not use the extra year that pennant chase uses.
- All players in majors must be under contract.
ROOKIE/PROSPECT TAGS:
- Players with rookie tags and prospects will stay as rookies or prospects until they reach the threshold of 150 at bats compiled total for hitter or 25 innings pitched compiled total for relief pitchers and 75 innings pitched compiled total for starters. After that threshold is reached their tags will be removed the following offseason and they will no longer be considered rookies or prospects. Also their tags will be removed once they reach 26 years old whether they have reached the thresholds listed above or not.
- Any tagged player does not need to be signed to a contract until they reach the thresholds listed above (unless they get called up then they must be under a contract due to all players in majors need to be under contract)
- Rookie Contracts (will be applied to a player once they get called up to majors!!) this helps the small market teams
1st rounder - $3/3
2nd rounder - $2/2
3rd rounder - $1/2
Keeping Players on Expiring Contracts:
At the end of a player?s contract expiration, a team will have a couple options to keep the player with the team. Each of these options must be communicated to the League Office prior to the conclusion of the World Series. They include:
Qualifying Offerss:
- A player who doesn't want to resign with you can be offered a $15mil 1 year deal if player agrees then you get him back for that contract.
- If the player declines the qualifying offer then they will have a draft pick attached to them if someone signs them. it could be a 1st or 2nd rounder based on how they perform that season. draft pick will be determined before FA starts.
- Top 10 draft picks in 1st round are protected (so only way around draft pick thats attached to a player is say 2nd worst team in league signs a player with a first rounder attached to them that team would lose there 2nd rounder instead.)
- If you dont have a 1st or second rounder u can not try to sign the player.
Contract Extensions:
- You can negotiate with a player at any point during season the commishes will act as player agents so it will be more realistic. so say you offer player a $10/3 deal but he is young and having a monster season he could ask for a $20/8 deal and u can negotiate a contract or some players will decline and want to hit the open market to get biggest deal possible.
Cutting Contracts:
-New owners are allowed to cut 1 contract for free when they join.
- You can cut contracts but are required to pay 50% of the remaining balance for one year so say they are owed $20/3 then thats $60 mil still owed to them which u will have a $30 mil cap reduction for 1 year.
8. Japanese Players
- every year there will be 3 players posted from Japan
- Each team will get $50 to bid on those players as a posting fee to be able to negotiate a contract with them.
- u can spread out $50 across the 3 players or all on 1 player.
- If multiple teams tie for a bid then the team with worst record wins the rights to talk contract. but beware u have to have cap space to talk with them if u only have like $5 mil in cap space available then u shouldn't bid cause if its a top player they will want more than $5 mil a year.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
