League Rules

Welcome to the 2009 league.

This will be a non-contract league.
The teams from 2009 will make up the league. Teams will be allocated by requests made in the chat box -- first come, first served. The team you are assigned when you enter the league is irrelevant.
Rosters will be 26/14
There will be 40 keepers per team allowed.
5 man pitching rotation
No draft, prospects or tagged players in this league. Unlimited trades, imports, and stat switching (100 AB, 35 IP minimum).
Waiver claims, beginning in 2012.
Low AB/IP players will be edited or have their stats doubled so they can be progressed next season per PC.
The initial minimums will be 75 AB, 30 IP. The season 2 (and beyond) minimum will be 100 AB, 35 IP.
No spring training in this league.
There will be 162 games played.

Beginning 10/9/24, anyone can question the fairness of a trade, and forward a review request to the trade review committee. BabeRuth21, 54Pete54, and Rosilver will be the members of this committee, and majority rules. The Commissioner will oversee the performance of this committee. Requests to have trades reviewed must be made within 1 week or 30 games, whichever comes first.

Beginning in 2018, Teams must be down to roster limits by game 1. After game 2, Commissioner will fix any roster not in compliance.

Playoffs elaborated: (2019)
10(!) teams make the playoffs: 2 league regular season champions and 8 wild card teams. These teams are ranked by record. In case of ties:

a) If both teams are "in", head-to-head decides the higher seed. If they are still tied, then run differential decides the higher seed. If they are still tied, then I will go by their power rank. If they are still tied, I will make a very arbitrary decision.
b) If only one team would be "in", then they have a 1-game playoff.

d) The top seed in each league gets a bye until the LCS
e) The wild card teams play best-of-3 series until one wild card team per league remains.
f) The regular season champion hosts the wild card team in each league -- best-of-7 round.
g) World Series: best-of-7.

Upon request, before a season begins, a SP can be changed to a RP. A RP with 35 IP and a stamina of at least 80 can be changed to a SP, for the season. They can be changed again the following offseason. Upon request, during the offseason, a player's primary and secondary positions can be switched if he played half that season's games at, or 1/3 of his career games at, his secondary position.

CONDUCT
MY BASIC EXPECTATIONS OF EACH OWNER:
⇒ Your commitment is season to season. When you join, you will be expected to actively run your team until the end of the season, which is when the regular season ends for non-playoff teams, or when your playoff team is eliminated.
⇒ Actively running your team means that you read messages once per day, meet all deadlines, and communicate any difficulties to the commissioner. If you will be away, and unable to get your message, give the commissioner advance notice. Inactivity for ten (10) days, or repeated failure to meet deadlines, may result in your being booted from the league.
⇒ Read and be familiar with the rules immediately upon joining: it may affect your desire to be in the league, or your desire to pick a certain team.

OFF SEASON DUTIES:
On any year ending in "5" or "0", the free agent pool will be cleared.

Classic progression after world series. 28 - 32 is the plateau.

Stat changing. Look for the closing date for stat switching after the World Series.

Imports: Your next years players will be imported on your roster as long as they are not already in league.

Trades (all season 99). Game 140 will be the trade deadline: no trades or waiver claims permitted between game 140 and the end of the World Series.

ELASTIC CLAUSE: I reserve the right to add rules, or change existing rules, for the good of the league.
