League Rules
Welcome to the Illinois Baseball League!Commissioner: OhMyJosh22
Vice Commish: MVPITO
League Activity: Owners are required to be active in this league. This league has many features that owners need to be active in order to benefit from. Certain tasks need to be done every season. With this in mind, if an owner doesn't log on for 2 weeks, they will be booted without warning. Any action needing to take place with their teams may be done by the Commissioners.
If it is noticed than an owner is signing on, but not paying any attention to the league.(not working on roster, not responding to league emails.) for a long period of time, they will also be booted without warning.
Seasonal Schedule
Spring Training: There will be a 20 game spring training beginning right after the offseason ends. This is a chance to test out players in different positions and get a better idea of what your roster will look like come Opening Day. It will be 2 days long, simming 10 games per day.
Regular Season:
- The season will be 162 games long with 54 3 game series.
- 9 games will be simmed each day.
- All Star Break is after day 90. The league will be paused for one day.
- Trade Deadline will be day 108 and no trading will be done starting the morning of day 109 until after the World Series.
- Players in the minors will be progressed an extra time(to increase player development) at a RANDOM point in the season(before the trade deadline)
Playoffs:
- Top 5 teams make the playoffs
- Top 3 teams get byes, and the fourth and fifth place play in a Wild Card Game
- From there, the 1 plays the 4/5 and the 2/3
- All series(except WC) are best of 7 in a 2-3-2 format
Awards
- Awards will be handed out for each league after the World Series.
- One person from each league will win the MVP and Cy Young.
- Silver Slugger and Gold Glove will be handed out by position, again one for each league.
- There will also be one executive of the year, for the GM who has the most success for the year(keep in mind this isn?t just winning, but also trades, drafting, and overall success).
Off-season
- Players age one year
- Contracts advance one year
- Players who contracts expire entire free agency
- Trading is reopened
- Players progress based on their potential rank
- Players in your minor leagues will also be progressed at a random point before the trade deadline, so make sure you?re minor leagues are full of prospects, even if you don?t plan on moving them up the majors anytime soon
Free Agency
- FA is a bidding war on a forum under the ?links? tab
- You can create sub-topics on players or bid on existing ones
- Include position and full name when creating a topic
-Example: SS Tim Anderson
Bidding rules:
- All bids must be at least $5
- Total bid = money per year x number of years
-Ex $5 x 9 years = $45
-To raise, your total must be higher than the next highest bid
- However, there is one exception. You can be the leader if you bid more money per year while keeping the same total
-For example: $8 for 6 years= $48 would be a higher value than $6 for 8 years
- You should format your bid as follows with your team name, player name and contract amount.
-Example: The Wilmette Water Buffaloes offer SS Javier Baez an 3 year $8 deal= $24
- Auctions will be locked after 24 hours with no responses, and all bids after will not count
- All duplicate topics of the same player are invalid, and any bids cast will not count
- Make sure when creating a topic that one doesn?t exist(there?s a search function to help)
Rookie Draft
- Each season, there will be a two-round rookie draft
- Fixed order, with the last place team from the season before going first
- Draft picks can be traded, but only for the upcoming draft
- Let the commissioner know via email for all traded picks
- All players are 20 years old, and if you can?t make the draft, be sure to rank them
- After the draft, you can tag prospects(to prevent losing them to FA) and sign rookie deals
- Rookie deals are $8 for up to 5 years, then the player goes into FA
Assembling a Team
- Rosters consist of 25 players in the majors and 15 in your minor leagues
- You have a $250 budget
- If you drop a player, their contract stays with your team until it expires
Prospects
- Player development is crucial to creating a dynasty in this league, and that starts with the minor leagues
- At the end of every season, you can tag players as prospects as long as they fit the requirements:
- They are currently not being paid
- Under 100 AB or 40 IP last season
- 26 years or younger
-Under 80 OVR
- If you want to sign them, you have two options:
- Go to the contracts page on your team, and pay them what they demand for up to 10 years
- Sign them on a rookie deal in the offseason(at the same time you tag your prospects for $9 a season, up to 5 seasons)
- Players continue to develop until they turn 28, and start regressing at 31
Rookie Draft
- At the end of each season, there will be a two-round rookie draft
- Each player will be 20 years old, and need multiple years to develop before being major-league ready
- Trading picks is allowed, but only for the upcoming draft
- Players retire at 38
Trading
- Trading is unlimited
- The trade deadline is after game 108, and will be resumed after the World Series
- Please alert the commissioner (OhMyJosh22 or MVPITO) of any draft picks traded. It would be best if both parties of the trade emailed me.
Rule 5 Draft
- Every offseason, another event held is the Rule 5 Draft. If you?re unfamiliar,
this is an optional draft where you can steal a prospect from another team. Players that can be stolen must fit these requirements:
- They cannot be signed
- They must be at least 90 Rk
- They must be 24 or older
- Keep in mind, if you choose to steal someone(and you get them), they are on a rookie deal, which is $9 for up to 5 years
Players will be chosen in draft order, meaning the first pick in the draft gets the first choice of player, regardless of when the request is submitted.
Tips
- Check your team everyday, at least for a few minutes to check emails and see the standings or make roster moves
- Have a full farm system, even if none of them are ready to play yet. After a few years of progressions, you never know how a given player could turn out
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
