League Rules
Welcome to the 2021 Fantasy Baseball.
We will play the 2021 season after the stats are available, until then we will have a huge offseason. We don?t know how everyone performs in 2021. We will draft players from the real-life 2021 draft and the trade deadline is our trade deadline.
To fill the time we will run a season on the 2019 stats to set strategy, to get to know the 3 player minimum for pitchers and to see how some players work. All players from the 2019 season are added and some even have duplicates. After the first season we reset rosters and move to the 2021 stats. So decide which team you want based on your expectations of the 2021 season not based on the 2019 season, because 2019 is irrelevant for the future of this league. (I will take the 30th team)

MLB type league. Same playoffs, season, spring training.

Commissioners: Erwin23

ROSTERS: Rosters will be the 40-man roster from the start of the 2020 offseason. In addition, you could pick 30 prospects from your organization. All players will be imported without stats. Stats get imported after the 2021 season is over. Minimum AB, IP -> 100 AB, SP 50 IP + more Starts than relief appearances, RP 25 IP -> Low AB and IP will get stats doubled -> AB 100-150 will be doubled twice becoming 300-600, AB 151-300 will be doubled once becoming 302-600. SP IP 50-100 will be doubled becoming 100-200. RP will stay like they are.
Players who do not meet the criteria will be imported with their last qualifying season. Example: Shane Bieber doesn?t meet the criteria, he will be imported with his 2020 stats and get doubled, if Corey Kluber doesn?t meet the criteria, he will be imported with his 2018 stats.

We will sim 1 game a day, so we have our season during the mlb offseason and the other way around.

Major league roster has 26 spots, Minor league roster has 50 spots.

Players can get signed to PC contracts during the first official season (when we play with the 2021 stats). Budget will be set at $250.

During the 1st off-season all teams can request 5 veterans (players who do not qualify as rookie or prospect) who are not on the 40-man roster, but are with the organization.

Players who are not ?claimed? by opening day 2021 and make an appearance in the 2021 season will be a free agent and could get signed. (40-man roster, the 30 prospects and the 5 additional players are claimed by the GM)

Prospects will be without stats, until stats are requested.

Every season, you are allowed to request for prospect stats. The top 10 (1-10 in power ranking) teams get 2 requests per season, The middle 10 (11-20 in power ranking) teams get 3 requests per season, the bottom (21-30 in power ranking) 10 teams get 4 requests per season. If you use 2 during the 1st season as a bottom 10 team, you will have 6 during the 2nd season if you are in the bottom 10 again or 4 if you are in the top 10 in the 2nd season.

Every offseason, you can change 10 players to the next seasons stats.

CONTRACTS: These are the possible contracts. A player needs a contract to play.
1. The Player be signed to a normal PC contract that the owner negotiates with the player: max of 3 years
2. The Player be signed to a $6/4year club control contract. At the end of a club control contract though, a player is released as a Free Agent. The team has the right to match any offer from another team in free agency to retain the player.
3. The Player be signed up to 10 years on a Club control incremental contract initially at $4 but increases by $2 for every year they are signed for.
4. Negotiate with the players manager (Erwin23) if you do not like the earlier contracts.
We do not play with the expiring year. So 10 years is 10 years and not 11

Progression: Players peak at the age of 29 and begin to decline at the age of 36.

TRADES: Trades are unlimited. You could trade players, prospects, draft picks, stat requests and cash.

FREE AGENCY: we will do this manager style. The commish (Erwin23) is the manager of the players. You negotiate with the manager on a good contract fitting for the player. You are allowed to offer raises.
You could add the following to the contract:
- Annual raise/decline
- Club option for one extra year and a buy-out
- Option out for the player (decided by Erwin23) if the player uses the option out)
- Bonuses for performants (Example: $1 extra for every 15 saves)
When negotiating on a contract, you should tell the players manager (and the player) which position you want him to play. (example: if a RP, like Rosenthal, has the chance to close in Houston or set up in Miami, he will probably prefere closing in Houston)
You could also negotiate for a contract extension with 2 players every year.

AFL: If a player has worked on a new ability during the offseason, like Pence during the 2018/2019 offseason, you could send the player to the AFL to boost the player in that stat. (Batters: contact, power or eye)(Pitchers: control, new pitch (more K's and less hits), better movement (less hits) or velo (more K's)

DFA: A player can get designed for assignment. In case you want that, you message the commish with time and date of when you design the player and of course the name of the player. 7 days after posting the player, he will become a free agent. During the 7 days the manager could make a deal for a trade, or the player could get claimed by one of the other teams.

Two ways to earn cap reward:
---> Awarded $1 for each level of playoff (WS winner gains $3...it will be $4 after WC round is established)
---> Awarded $1 - for every 5 games won more than last season. Max of $4 (20+ win improvement)
Two ways to lose cap:
---> Taken away $1 - for every 5 games loss more than last season. Max of $4 (20+ loss)
---> Taken away $1 for finishing last in you division

Tanking is not appreciated and will be punished. What tanking is in my eyes. Everything you do to get a better draft pick without the help of an other team. So leaving good players in the minors (unless the player is injured), playing more players out of position, not setting your line-up. I'm an over active commish, so I'll check the line-ups if they are set. The other things should come from the other owners.

Any questions? Feel free to email me, commish, with those and I?ll respond.

Extra from the homepage

For everyone who doesn't understand the plans of the league.
We have two competitions running site to site.
No.1 is the 2021 competition. We start with an offseason. All transactions in this competition will stay with you in the future.
No.2 is the 2019 competition. We start with a normal season, no offseason here. All transactions in this competition will only be for this season and will not be taken into the future. (this will only be one season)
I hope that you have a better picture about this league now.

Hi all,
Welcome to the 2021 Fantasy League. Once the 2021 season stats are available, we will start our official first season. This will take a long time so to fill the time, we will run a season on the 2019 stats to set strategy, to get to know the 3 player minimum for pitchers and to see how some players work. For this last item I'll look to add some 2020 players to see how they play. Know that we switch to the 2021 stats once they are available.
In your inbox (after the 2020 world series), you'll find a message with your 40-man roster (this is different than the players on your roster). Besides the 40-man roster, you'll have 30 prospects from your own organisation (send a list with the prospects you want to me and add them to the list in the notes).
You can trade all players from your list from the moment you have the list. Tell me (Erwin23) who you traded, so I know it when we import the 2021 stats.
The 2019 players can get traded, but only player for player.
Once the 2021 stats are available, I'll move all the players in your notes to your roster and add their 2021 stats.
You could trade the players from your roster and players from your notes.
Players from the roster are temporaraly (after the season these trades get returned). Players from the notes are permanently (player will be added with 2021 stats)

Any questions? Feel free to email me, commish, with those and I?ll respond.

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
