League Rules
FAVORITE TEAMS ASSOCIATION RULES-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CONCEPT OF THE LEAGUE
The new league will operate as a Fav Teams style league, where some of the BEST seasons of Fav Team leagues will be what you draft (EX: 1927 Yankees, 2019 Astros, etc). So your team will consist of 4 different seasons coming from a master list of some of the best seasons from Fav Teams throughout MLB history, 1900-present. Each MLB franchise will have at least 1 season in the pool.
**Once you have your 4 seasons you will need to build your team in your sandbox from your 4 separate seasons and then the commish will import the roster when ready. If you do not have a sandbox, let the commish know and I can upload all 4 seasons to your team and you will then need to cut all unwanted players.
---------------------------------------
ROSTERS
Your roster will have 35 players on it, 26 in the majors and 9 in the minors. Just like Fav Teams, the following will be the minimum AB/IP thresholds. NOTE: there will be NO exception for 2020 SP's. If you use 2020 all pitchers will be RP's.
Position players or batters - 125 or more AB's
Starting Pitchers - 85 or more IP's (SP's with less than 85 IP's will immediately be converted to RP's with a pitch count of 40).
Relief Pitchers - 35 or more IP's.
Once your 35 man team is set, we will start the season, there will be no trades/FA's/supplemental, etc.
---------------------------------
YEARLY DRAFT and DRAFT ORDER
Most seasons we will have a 2 round draft, with the order of the draft being set by previous seasons record. So the worst record will pick first in both rounds and the WS winner will pick last. The 2 teams who make the WS will be the last 2 teams to pick.
SKIPPING PICKS: If the commish feels an owner is taking too long between draft picks the commish will set a deadline for the pick to come in. If the deadline passes, that owner will have his selection SKIPPED and the draft will continue. The owner can submit their pick at any time via private messsage to the commish, but others will have the chance pick in the meantime. If the owner has not submitted a pick by the end of the 1st Rd, then a commish pick will be made to ensure that team is not at a complete disadvantage. This eliminates a frequent complaint in custom leagues about rewarding an owner who doesn't show for the draft with a good commish pick.
FIRST SEASON DRAFT
The draft for year 1 will be a 4 round snake style draft with the order being determined randomly. This is to insure some fairness in making our initial teams.
-----------------------------------------
KEEPERS
In order to have some sense of continuation and to have some dynasty type teams along with regular turnover for each team, each year you will have 2 KEEPER seasons. In year 1 you will "sign" one of your seasons for 2 more years, and one for 1 more year...and each year 2 of your seasons will go back into the draft pool.
Then in season 2, you will sign one of your newly drafted seasons for 2 years and we will continue that cycle. So at the end of every season you will have 1 season signed for 1 year and 1 signed for 2 years.
REDRAFTING SEASONS
The year after one of your seasons goes back into the draft pool, you will not be able to draft that season for that year. This is to insure some change over in teams and seasons used. After that year, you can redraft any season you have used prior.
DUMPING TEAMS and NEW OWNERS
IF you are unhappy with 1 of the seasons you have resigned, you can DUMP them back into the draft pool. However, it must be the team that ONLY has 1 year left, not the team with 2 years. When you sign a team for 2 years, you must bring them back at least once. If you dump a team, you would then draft 3 teams in the following draft, BUT your third pick would come after everyone else has drafted.
IF a new owner joins the league and takes over a team they will have the right to dump ALL seasons and start their own team. However, their last 2 picks will also come at the end of the draft after each team has done their 2 rounds.
-------------------------------------
TEAM DETAILS
Owners will be able to set their team names, logos, and park effects when they join. No team name will be allowed that is political or overtly offensive. This is because politics sucks and that is a commish opinion that is not negotiable. Each offseason you can also change your park effects prior to season start.

LEAGUE CONDUCT EXPECTED
Have fun, talk trash if you like, but anything deemed meanspirited will result in discipline typically reserved for my children. Any and all partisan, political BS talk will be met with utmost hostility. One warning then out. Politics in this country is beyond toxic, and I don't want to hear any of it here.
---------------------
INACTIVE OWNERS
This league should be a low maintenance league. If you don't sign on, make timely draft picks, or set your lineups, then you obviously don't want to be here. If you forsee an absence due to this thing called life, give me a heads up.
---------------
TRADING
No trading of players is permitted.
---------------------------------------------
BABE OHTANI RULE
If a player in a single season meets the minimum AB's and IP's threshold to qualify as both an SP and a hitter, the teams owner has three options to choose from:
1. Use the player as an SP only
2. Use the player as an everyday position player only
3. Use the player as both an SP and DH (this means commish will edit the position player so that DH is primary and secondary position, as well as lower that players dWar by a -2.0 and minimally triple the players errors. This is to avoid having the same player in the field and on the mound at the same time. Offensive #'s will not be edited in anyway)
------------------------------------
DUPLICATE PLAYERS
Duplicate players are NOT allowed on an individual team. If you have 2 seasons with the same player, you must choose 1.
------------------------------------
GAME SIMULATIONS SCHEDULE
Regular season will be set for every 6 hours, with user sims turned on.
------------------------------------------------------------
162-GAME REGULAR SEASON
The season will be 162 games in length. I will run the basic, balanced schedule each season under the commish tools, with such loaded rosters there will be no days off granted and
---------------------------------
PITCHING ROTATION
A five man starting pitching rotation will be used.
----------------------------------
SLUMP BUSTER
Slump Buster will be set to 10 calendar days.
----------------------------------
INJURIES
Injuries will be set to 8 game max for batters and 10 games for pitchers.
------------------------------------------
PLAYOFFS
The playoffs will be "fluid" in nature. As a general rule, the playoffs will be the top 3 teams only, with the regular season winner receiving a bye to the World Series. However, if there are ties in regular season record within the top 3, the playoffs will expand accordingly. For example, if there is a 2 way tie for first, it will be a 4 team playoff, and no team will get a bye. If there is a tie for 3rd, tiebreakers will be used to determine who plays the 1 seed and who plays the 2 seed. If there is a tie for 2nd, only the 1st and 2nd place teams will get in. In general the following criteria will be used for the playoffs.
-No team will be left out who had the same regular season record as the top 3.
-The regular season winner will always get a bye to the WS anytime there is an odd number of teams in the playoffs, this includes the odd chance 5 teams get in the playoffs (this would require a 4 way tie for 2nd or a 3 way tie for 3rd.)
-Anytime there are 4 teams in the playoffs, no team gets a bye
All playoff series will be best of 7 games. Tiebreakers will ONLY be used to decide seeding/home field advantage.
TIE BREAKERS
In the event of a tie for final playoff spots, home field, or draft order, the following criteria will be used to break the tie, in order:
1. Head 2 Head Record
2. Run Diff
3. Coin Flip (only if the previous 2 are all ties)

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
