League Rules

Revised 3/6/21

My philosophy on rules is the following: They are made to direct and guide us in an orderly manner. Consequently, rules are made to be followed NOT broken. So step #1 is READ THE RULES. Step #2 is ask questions if you need clarification. Step #3 is play by the rules.

The league began with the year 2000 and will progress with each subsequent season up to 2020. Our seasons will be 162 games. This is a keeper league with 5 players from ONLY the current year we are playing in. You will get those players stats for the next season. So before keeping them, you will want to do some research into their next season stats

SCHEDULE
Pennant Chase will be used to create the schedules. There will be 162 games. Each series of games will total 3 games. All games can be simmed every 4 hours by owners.

ROSTERS
30 players maximum on your major league roster. You can add up to 10 players in the minor leagues via free agency acquisitions and/or trades. Major league rosters may not exceed 13 pitchers to ensure quality lineup coverage. Teams will use the DH.

CONTRACTS
Max contracts are for 3 years and owners will have the option to resign the same players at the end of their contracts . Max of 5 players can be under contract at one time. Contracts are only allowed for players of the current season being played. DEADLINE for establishing keeper contracts is prior to the end of the World Series. Contracts are NOT allowed to players from the random old timer season. These players are meant to supplement the current season being played and are removed at the end of each season.

TRADES
There will be 10 trades allowed per season. The trading deadline will be after game 120 of the regular season.

INJURY/FATIGUE
Both turned on. The max injury games for pitchers is 10 games and position players is 7 games. Fatigue Is also on so be wary of the EN of your players.

SLUMP BUSTER
Slump Busters will be limited to 10 games. You may add players who meet the requirements back to slump busters.

STARTING ROTATION
5 man (more realistic). There will be no limit as to how many batters a pitcher needs to face.

PROGRESSION
Real life progression/regression will be used so keep an eye on those real life stats.

DRAFT
6 rounds per day with approximately 2 hours between each round. After 5 days, a minimum of 30 players will be on each team roster. Owners should pre-rank players prior to the first round and continue to adjust their rankings throughout the draft. The order of selection will be picked at random with snake progression after the first round.

FREE AGENTS
We will use the waiver system each season. As mentioned earlier, 1 old timer season will be added to our player pool and you can NOT keep these players going into the next season. You may pre-rank as many players as you want. The waiver order is based on current standings. Keep roster limits in mind. The first round of waivers will open immediately after game 3. Waivers will close after game 150.

DAYS OFF
There will be 2 days off given at the end of the regular season and in between each postseason series. 1 day will be granted after games 2 and 5 in the postseason.

POSTSEASON
Two wildcard teams will play best of 5 (2-2-1 format). The winner will play the team with the best season record (2-3-2 format). The other 2 division winners will play the other 2nd round series. The winners from the 2nd round will square off in the World Series. All series after the wildcard series will be best of 7 (2-3-2 format).

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
