League Rules
1) Setup: The league consists of Major League Baseball's AAA affiliates. Each team will be aligned/managed by the franchise owner in MLB: The Show. Each team will play 5 games against each team for a total of 145 games. The top 5 teams will make the playoffs. All ties for playoff qualification will be broken with a winner take all game. Any ties for seeding will be broken by H2H record first, and then Power Rankings.2) Players: The league will consist of fictional players created at the beginning of each season. The league will be seeded with average/below average players. Player Progression and Retirements will be used!! Players will range in age from 18 to 26 years old.
3) Progression: The player progression will be similar to that of other leagues. Each off season, each player will age one year. The site provides an auto-progression based on each player peaking at age 28. If the player is younger than 30 years old they will get better, but if they are older than 30 then they will decline.
4) Retirement: If players have not been "called up" to MLB: The Show, they will retire after the conclusion of their 26 YO season.
5) New Players: Approximately 100 rookies will be created each off-season and enter the FA pool. Average/Below Average players will supplement the FA pool as necessary to off-set "call-ups".
6) Rosters: Roster size will be limited at 25 players. Owners will be permitted to sign and drop Free Agents as needed. FA and trading will be allowed throughout the season.
7) Schedule and Sims: Season will be 145 games.
8) Playoffs: The playoffs will take the top 5 teams (regular season champion and next best 7 teams). The #1 seed will always play the highest remaining seed. Meaning they start with the #8 team in the first round, and if they move on, and the #7 team upsets the #2 team, the #1 team will play the #7 team in the semi-finals. All series will be 7 games 2-3-2 format with the higher seed having home field advantage.
9) Inactivity: Owners booted from MLB: The Show will automatically been booted from this league. Anyone not managing either roster may be booted from both leagues. If you are a manager in MLB: The Show, you will not be booted from this league.
9b:Rule Change; The Integrity Rule It is strictly forbidden to set your lineup to intentionally lose games or get blown out. Playing players out of position or starting pitchers on 2 days rest so they pitch terribly is forbidden. Any activity which impacts the integrity of the league for other teams is forbidden. I have sole discretion in determining what is a violation. I will consult with other managers, as well as the alleged offender for input and to hear discussion, but I am the judge, jury, and executioner. Also, not playing star players such as Ruth, Bonds, Maddux etc...violates the Integrity Rule. A few examples:
10) Draft: The draft order will be determined by the reverse order of the standings of MLB: The Show for the corresponding season.
11) Budgets: TBD.
12) ConclusionAny questions let me know. Stadium's will resemble the stadiums in MLB: The show OR will remain "No Effect" as determined by each owner.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
