League Rules

1940-1959

I
A)
Have Fun
B)
Team names must be a geographical location and a nickname. Please keep it clean. Names can not be changed once decade begins unless a member leaves. The new member may change the name at the end of the season.
C)
Ball parks may be changed each offseason and be complete before game one.

II
ROSTERS
A) 26 man roster for majors.
B) 3 man bench. (minors)
C) At no time may a team have more than 8 keepers. (Players under contract). Unless via trade when one of the players is on an expiring contract. Basically trades need to be balanced as far as keepers involved. You may have under 8. No team is obligated to keep 8.

III
DRAFT
A)
Initial draft will be 26 rounds. The order will be randomized and it will be a snake draft
We will start with a 4 hour clock. PC nightly pause will be in effect.
B)
As the draft moves along at some point we will drop the clock to 3 hrs. Then 2 hrs., then one.

***C)
In season 2 and beyond, we will play 10, the number of draft rounds will be determined after progressions are run at the end of the season. The order will be worst to first starting with non playoff teams. Champs draft last. Runnerup drafts 2nd to last. Teams in playoffs will draft by when they were eliminated. Teams eliminated in the same round will draft according to regular season finish. Better record gets later pick.

IV
***PLAYER POOL
***A)
The players will be from the 1940-1959 seasons. All players will have a "C" potential. Progressions will be random, not real.

B)
If a players season is different on Baseball Reference than it is on PC. Notify a commissioner and it can be changed.

V
***CONTRACTS and PROGRESSIONS
***A)
There are no real contracts. This is a keeper league. Contracts are 3 year maximums. With the free PC year, this means you can have a player for a max of 4 years then he is returned to free agency. Salary Caps will be huge so they wont come into play.
B)
Progressions will be random as stated. Everyone is a "C". At the end of each season each team will decide who they will sign and for how long. 8 players maximum to be kept each year. Sign your contracts wisely. Then progressions will be run. After this the draft will start and players will have the draft period to decide if the want to change a players stat season. This feature will be turned on.

C) If you let a player go back to FA, you may draft him again and assign him to whatever season you want and start the process all over again.

***D)
Players will progress to age 30 and begin to regress at 31. There will be no retirement as a players season may be changed after being drafted.

E) The only time you can't "change" a season back to the one just used is if the player is a signed keeper. That player can only be changed to another eligible season or stay at the new progressed season.

F) Keepers can have their seasons changed, but not to the one just used. In other words you have a player and use his 1946 season. You sign him as a keeper for 2 seasons. After progressions his stats are worse. You may change that player to any year other than the 1946 season he just played. No reset. If you don't sign him and let him go to FA, you may redraft him and assign him whatever season you want. Even the 1946 stat year he just played.

G) When picking players from the pool after a season or two, you can draft that player and reset his stats back to his best year. Always check how the player has progressed.

***VI
PLAY
A)
3 hour user sims.
***B)
Season will be 162 games. 12 games vs 13 opponents. In the past we used 156 games because it worked with the 12x13. 6 games will be added to the schedule in the form of 3 game home and home series to end the season. It will be determined by the order of finish. 1st place the previous season will play 2nd place, etc. etc. For season one, the draft order will determine the matchups for those 6 games. Pick one vs pick two. and so on. Based on final regular season standings.
***C)
Built in days of rest for entire league will be scheduled. After 6 games a day of rest is granted.

VII
Playofffs

B)There will be one 14 team division. 7 teams make the post season. Division winner gets bye. Seed 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5. Best of 7 series. No reseed. #1 seed plays the winner of the #4 vs #5 game. ALL SERIES BEST OF 7.

***C)
2 days off at the end of regular season. All series are best of 7 is a 2-3-2. Day off after games 2 and 5. Two days rest between playoff series.
***D)
Automated Post season and playoffs will be used. Top team is seed 1 and gets a bye. There is no reseeding. In round 2 Top seed plays the winner of the #3vs #4 game. The #2-#7 game plays the #3-#6 game.
***E)
Tie breakers are
1-H2H
2-PC Power Rank
3-Run Differential (total)

VIII
Stat Minimums

A)
Minimums will be 100 IP for starters. 30 for RP. 175 AB for batters.

***B)
We will use 4 man rotations. 3 days rest for starters.

IX
SP-RP
A)
The pitchers will be designated SP or RP based on what they were in the season selected. A SP must have a minimum 100 IP. If in a certain season a SP was under 100 IP due to injury or whatever, that season in not an eligible season to use.
If a RP has over 100 IP he can be changed to SP. As long as he had at least 14 starts.
Examples:
SP has over 100 IP, he stays SP regardless of the number of starts.
SP has less than 100 IP the season is ineligible.
RP has over 100IP but started 14+ games, he may be changed to SP.
RP has over 100 IP but started 13 games or less. Stays RP.
RP has fewer than 30 IP that season is ineligible.

B)
Any team drafting or changing a player to an ineligible season will have to keep that player and change that season to an eligible one. No replacement player. Chose wisely.

X
Trades
A)Trading is allowed through game 120. You are not allowed to have more than 8 players under contract so keep this in mind while making deals.
The exception will be if a player is on an expiring contract.

B) You may trade draft picks only one year in advance.

XI
All-Stars
Will be selected after game 120 at the trade deadline. I like a longer look at players for all-stars.

XII
Rule changes may come to improve the game by a simple majority of the votes with at least 12 votes cast.

XIII
Commissioner rule change
Anyone new taking over a team abandoned or banned from, may shorten existing contracts inherited or have them deleted. If a new owner wishes to delete a contract, they may not sign that player again before the season ends. Those players or player must go to FA at the end of the season.

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
