1970 A.L. Rookie of the Year-7time All-Star with 3 consecutive Gold Gloves (1973-1975) The "heart and soul" of the Yankees was named Captain in 1976, the team's first since Lou Gehrig. That same year he won the A.L. MVP award making him the only Yankee to win ROY and MVP awards! During an off dau in the summer of 1979, Munson died at the age of 32 while practicing landing his Cessna.
