Back to Back?
Seattle Looks to Go Back 2 Back
The Montreal Expos, or, I mean, the Washington Nationals, once again, looked poised to challenge for and, ultimately, not win the World Series.
The AL Central is stacked. Everyone but Detroit with a great chance to win.
Colorado can crush it in the thin mountain air behind the best pitching staff in the majors

Rules
REWIND AND REPLAY
I) Overview of the League
Rewind and Replay is a NON-CONTRACT league. NON-CONTRACT league means that once a player is on your team, you keep the player until he retires in real life. There is no budget or signings involved. You can hold onto them however long you want or trade or release them from your team. If you want that player back, you must reacquire him by drop or pick up as a free agent. The players will be retired at whatever time they retire in real life. This league do NOT reset itself each season. This league began with the 1960 season. All original players, none fabricated. All players can be found at Baseballreference.com.
II) The Roster
A)Roster Size- Using Pennant Chase and Baseball-Reference.com, each team/player is imported from the 19xx season. All teams will have a minimum of 25(National League will have the pitcher/dh as the 26th player) players before the start of the season. You can place up to 5 players in your minor league for a total player roster of 30(AL team) or 31(NL team).
B)Player Requirement- All players must have the minimum(40 ab or 12 inns pitched). They will enter the majors as a rookie to the team that they qualify with the leagues minimum.
C)Supplemental Draft- The supplemental draft will begins before the start of spring training. After all players are added to their team, teams need to reduce their roster to a total of 28 players(or less).
1)Acquiring a player through the draft- After all teams have reduced to 28 players or less, you will go to your team page and under the tab "Rank Draftees", pre-rank the players you want. If you are looking to pick up a player or more, you will need to reduce your roster by however many players you want to pick up(pick up one, you drop one for a total of 27, etc).
2)Increasing roster- If you do not pre-rank, you will not receive any players! Free agency opens up after the twelveth spring training game.
3)Draft Order- The order of the draft is worst record from previous season goes first then on up to best record. The last two teams to draft will be the World Series teams with the winner last regardless of record. The order of the draft will be posted on the league page and have 5 rounds.
D)Keepers- This league uses real life progression. Teams have complete control over their players. So you can keep them, cut them, trade them. Once you trade/release them, they won't return to your team the next season! This league doesn't "reset" each season.
E)Free Agency- Free agency opens after the twelveth spring training game. It's open until the last game of the season and is closed during the off-season.
F)Trades- You can trade any player you like but please make your trade reasonable. The League Office is leery of trades that is too one-sided though, especially involing "franchise" players(example:young George Brett for a handful of retiring players). The League Office or if more than two teams question a trade, the League Office will investigate and the trade might be reversed.
1)Collusion- Continued trade reversals or collusion with another team could result in being booted and/or ban from the league.
2)Trade with a player on the Holding team- You can trade with/for a player on the holding team. Both teams must message the Commissioner's Office for approval of the trade. When the player in question is eligible to come off the Holding Team, please message the Commissioner as a reminder.
3)Trade Deadline- The trading deadline would normally be between Day 144-Day 150, which in real life would be August 30th. Games would be suspended for 24 hours for teams to complete trades before game will be resumed.
G)Conversion/Position Change-
1)Pitchers- All teams are required to have a minimum of five SP in their rotation and a minimum of nine pitchers total. Nine pitchers is the minimum because PennantChase can't sim games with less than nine. If you don't have the minimum, pitchers will be assigned to your team from the free agent list after spring training is concluded. Remember that the selection would not be very good.
a)Starting pitchers- You can message the Commissioner's Office to convert a RP to a SP. Requirement is that they MUST have pitched a minimum of 2 starts in real life. Their fatigue would be raised to 80. All starting pitchers fatigue would be raised to 80 if below that mark.
b)Relief pitchers- Also you can message the Commissioner's Office to convert your SP to RP. Requirement is that they MUST have pitched made a minimum of 2 relief appearances. Their fatigue would be lowered to 40.
2)Position Players- Converting position to position(ie. 2b/ss to ss/2b) is not allowed.
a)Designated Hitter- Players that have designated hitter as a secondary position will have third position(if they have one) put in its place instead. Must have played at least twice in the third position to qualify. A good example is 2010 Mark Teahan. Played 3b/DH/OF/1b. With the DH taken out, he would be 3b/OF instead.
a)National League- Players that have DH as the primary position will automatically have their secondary position as to their primary. If you don't want this to happen(for defensive reasons), let the Commissioner know.
a)American League- Players that have DH as the primary position will be left as DH unless requested.
III)Schedule- I used Baseballcube.com to create the schedule. There will be however many games played for that particular season. Since I "manually" input the authentic schedule, it will not be complete when the season starts. I will try to schedule at least ten games ahead of the actual days played. Like history, you will be playing teams according to the real-life schedule in the past. Only in spring training and the World Series will you play a team in the other league. There will be mistakes made and I will rectify that as soon as I find it or is pointed out to me. If it isn't in a timely manner, the mistake will stand.
A) Interleague play won't start until 1997 unless voted otherwise.
B)
IV)Sims- Currently, as per league vote 57-43%, beginning for the 1971 season, there will be 3 games simmed in the morning(530am-7am pst) and three at night(4-7pm est). I have turn on the user sim to so you can get a game in before the regularly scheduled time but will still total 3 in the morning and three at night. For the playoffs and World Series, the game times will be as follows with a game for each times: 500-700am, 10-130pm, 400-630pm and 900-1100pm, all pst. Towards the end of the regular season, if all teams have clinched winning their division, all remaining games will be played out over one day to speed up to the post season.
V)Spring Training
A) There will be a twenty-four game spring training so you can tryout/experiment with your roster/rotation. Games will be played 8 per day for three days.
B)You do NOT have to use the designated hitter during spring training.
C)Free Agency opens up after game 12.
D)Minor League opens up after game 12.
VI)Post Season
A) If there is a tie for first place in the division the winner will be determined by a one game playoff.
1)Division and League playoffs
a)There is a best of 5 series with best record hosting the last three games at home. There will be a 2 day rest before playoffs and 2 days rest before the World Series. There will also be a day off between venues(travel time) during a series.
b)Starting in 1976 for the World Series, only on even years until 1985, the National League team will use a designated hitter. Beginning 1986, the designated hitter will be used only when playing at the American League home venue but a vote will be taken the previous year on to proceed.
2)World Series
a)A best of seven series
Until 1975, (for 1973 WS, AL team would use 1972 stats, 1974 WS would use 1971 stats, etc). In 1976, the World Series alternates every other season with the National League team using the DH exclusively until the World Series in 1986. From then on, only the AL venue uses the DH while the NL venue uses the pitcher.
The Logos
I will change logos for the teams as they become into the league as in real life. I will try to update them on a regular basis. If you notice something or want changed, let me know.
The Stadium Effects
The effects of each stadium are fixed and can only be changed when the team moves to another stadium. It is the owners responsibility to let me know when their team moves. This move must be historically accurate. At that time the owner can specify what the effects of that stadium will be. Once the effects are set, they cannot be changed. Only times they can collectively change is when it's an expansion year(1993,1998).
*List of upcoming stadiums:
1982- Minnesota Twins- The Metrodome
1989- Toronto Blue Jays- Rogers Centre
1991- Chicago White Sox- Comiskey Field
1992- Baltimore Orioles- Camden Yards
1993- *Miami Marlins- Joe Robbie Stadium
1993- *Colorado Rockies- Mile High Stadium
1994- Texas Rangers- The Ballpark in Arlington
1994- Cleveland Indians- Jacobs Field
1995- Colorado Rockies- Coors Field
1996- Atlanta Braves- Turner Field
1998- *Tampa Bay Devil Rays- Tropicana Field
1998- *Arizona Diamondback- Chase Field
1999- Seattle Mariners- Safeco Field
*- expansion team
The Playoffs
There is 2 divisions each in the American and National league. Prior to the 1994 strike, the National League champion received home-field advantage in even-numbered years and the American League champion in odd-numbered years. The playoff format will stay this way until 1985 when it switches to where the best record in the league will host first in the 2-3-2 format.
Awards
There will be a 3 day break in between games 9x and 10x for the All Star break( according to actual history). There will be an All Star player for the American and National league in each position except Starting and relief pitching with 2. All Stars are decided by the CPU. There will also be an Alternate All Star in each position. If there is an injured All Star player during the All Star break, another player will take the alternate position. At the end of the season there will be a MVP and Cy Young winner in each league. At the World Series, there will be a World Series MVP(either batter or pitcher)chosen by me. Also at the end of the season, the World Series GM will be fitted for a ring.
Also starting in the 1968 season, there will be the Silver Slugger, Golden Glove and Fireman of the Year awards. Each position will be awarded(OF will have 3 positions) except for Fireman of the Year which will go to the best closer. To qualify for the Silver Slugger, the best slugging % will be taken. For the Golden Glove, the best fielding % and then the least amount of errors will be taken into consideration. To qualify for the Silver Slugger and the Golden Glove awards, the batter MUST have at least 400 AB. For the Fireman of the Year, it will go to a points system(Saves= 2pts, Wins= 1 pt). If close or a tie, then there will be multiple winners. An award will go to each position(OF will have 3 positions). Awards will be handed out at end of season.
Active Owners
Any owner who will not be able to sign in at least once in a two week period must communicate this with the commissioner. Let me know ahead of time if you are not going to be active. Any owner who fails to sign in at least once in two weeks, and fails to communicate this with the commissioner will be removed from the league. I will message you to respond also. PLEASE let me know if you are leaving. A notice is very much appreciated.
Conduct
All GMs' are to be respectful to one another. Derogatory, racist and sexist remarks WILL not be tolerated which will be cause for you to be booted from the league. You are fully encouraged to exchange, engage and banter with other GMs'. Smack/trash talk is allowed but please do NOT make personal attacks.
The September Call-up(OFF THE TABLE FOR THE MOMENT, at least until 1980)
Criteria for the September call-up:
Starting Pitcher- Must have made 5 starts or less ONLY and over 12 innings
Relievers- Must appear in 10 games or less AND lower than 24 innings total.
Position players- Have under 70 at-bats AND appeared in 30 games or less.
Players that are over the above requirement will start the season with their respective teams. Everyone must be under the required number of players at start of season but roster will expand to max of 40 players in September(41 for National League). The call-up will be 30 games before the end of the season. Since the season have ended around game 178-180, the call-up will start around games 145-148.
FAQs
One of the important things to know about this league is homework. Know who is going to be on your roster and who is going to get hurt or retire. It's good to plan at least a couple of seasons in advance. Make a trade if you are going to be short in a position or on pitching. Know when to hold onto someone and who to release if you will be getting an abundance of rookies.
For the NL general managers, you MUST have the dh/pitcher in your lineup during the regular season. You will be given a warning to fix this. If ignored, I will fix it for you. If the dh/pitcher is taken out of lineup again, you will be booted from the league and banished. Please don't have me take this step.

New Rules!
--After considering past requests and a great idea from fightingtigers concerning the DH. Some players have DH'ed their secondary position have actually played other positions as well. For those that have played multiple positions(Jaime Quirk come to mind), their next position will be there instead of dh. The only requirement is that they must have played MORE than one game in the next position.
--The next rule is that all National League teams that have a player that DH'ed will automatically convert to their secondary position. If you don't want that to happen(for defensive reasons), message me. American league teams must message me for conversion though.
For the playoffs and World Series only, do you want a shorter rotation(one less day off) for starting pitchers(but a 10% reduction in fatigue)?(Credit to Michael55 for this question)
Yes! That's how it was done back then some teams still do it now.... 59%
No! Leave it as it is because there's already days off built in.... 41%
6/13/2016 Trades tactracer
The controversy with trades has come to a point where something has to be done. There's never a trade where it's 50/50. The experienced GM would do the "homework" to see if it's a good or bad trade. Because he didn't have much experience in PC, I wanted someone volunteer to be Tiger's mentor. I told Tiger that any trades he received/going to make would go through his mentor first. I just found out that he didn't.
I'd intervene on trades if there are 4 or more GMs that object in the chat box or messaged me. I want to avoid disasters done to teams such as the Yankees, Royals and most recently the Brewers in seasons past. The thought of gutting your team by trading all your soon-to-be good players for a shot in the Series ticks me off. Those people are banned on this league. It would take seasons for the team to right itself just to wait on their rookies. Then people would only stay for a season or two, seeing that it would take a while for the team to get good. So to my chagrin, I was a little confused by someone who is a fan of a team to trade most of their famous or best players away.
So Tiger is inexperienced. He's young. And he's even running his own league. So the commitment's there. He will get a final chance. There is a commitment level in this league. Hope he's look up the players he has, going to have on baseball reference. He will have a mentor until the end of the season that I hope he will as questions and ask for advice on trades before committing to them.
So to the two teams that have traded with him, I will give them the option to either include a player to be named later or cancel the trade. As I said, I asked Tiger to run the trade through his mentor. The player would either be someone from their minor league this season that have seasons left or a rookie next season. I will send a list of 3-5 players that would benefit the other team down the road. This will be in place only for new people coming into this league that has either less than 1500 total games played OR under a .400% winning percentage. Also, I will have something in place where when enough complaints have been lodged, I will have a formula to determine where a bad trade can be accepted.
That should be it for now. If it isn't already, I hope to have this fine-tuned later. Any questions, message me or post on the chat box....
tarting in 1986, the World Series designated hitter rule options are(explanation in the All Star game story)...
Home team(both teams uses the dh-style of the home team) 59%
American League(DH full time, both leagues) 22%
