Road to the Final 4 v. 2.0Rules
1. TEAM CHOICE
At the start of season 1, we will choose Universities with NCAA Division 1 Basketball teams. Which University is chosen has no bearing on anything other than the name of your team, your logo, arena, and coaches available to you. If an owner leaves the league, the new owner can choose to take over the old program or choose a new school that is no currently in the league.
2. Player Pool
Season 1: I will randomly import 48 PGs, 48 SGs, 48 SFs, 48 PFs, and 48 Cs. For each position group I will force 12 players to be 18, 12 to be 19, 12 ro be 20, and 12 to be 21.
We will draft 12-man teams with a random draft order, snake style draft, 6 hours between picks for the first 6 rounds and supplemental drafts (1 per day) for the last 6 rounds.
In all future seasons, the rookie draft will be 3 rounds worth of players randomly imported and set to age 18.
All player graduate/retire after their 21-year-old season.
3. ROSTERS
You can carry up to 15 players, but only 12 can be active.
4. —TRADES, CONTRACTS, and FREE AGENCY
No Trades Allowed
Any players not drafted are eligible free agents until they retire at 22
All players drafted are automatically kept until they graduate/retire. No contracts.
5. SCHEDULE
We will play a 44 game season (4 vs each team) with sims every 8 hours. Regular season standings determine the seeding for the National Championship tournament immediately after the season.
6. INJURIES— max injury length is set at 5 games.
7. Freshman Draft— Before each new season, we will recruit new players through a freshman draft of randomly imported 18-year-olds. To recreate the advantage that successful programs have in recruiting, Freshman draft order will be National Champion first pick, runner-up second pick, and then in order of finish in tournament with regular season record as tie-breaker. The Draft will be 3 rounds, 6 hours between picks.
8. Local Recruitment-
****Each team has the choice to forfeit their first-round pick and instead recruit locally. Your choice must be made before draft begins.
****For each team that wants a local recruit, Four 17 year old players will be added to the team’s roster. This gives a better chance to get a decent, player locally, along with the extra year of eligibility.
****Team owner will decide which player they want to keep, and Commish will delete others.
****All players not taken will be deleted, not moved to free agency.
The positive here is that you could get lucky and have a star import. The negative is that you are more likely to have a bum import and you are then stuck with him. This option is probably only sensible if you are a bad team with a low pick in what you deem a shallow draft. In that case, it may be worth it to roll the dice. Of course, anyone feeling lucky can take this option for their first pick. The commish will ask for local recruitment requests after the player pool is available and before the draft room opens.
9. OLD PLAYERS not in PC
For every Freshman draft, I will create one older legend as an 18 year old, using his earliest stats that are at least as good as his career level of performance (so, Wilt's rookie season would be used, but Jerry West's second year stats would be used)
10. Progressions: player potential will be randomly generated upon import. Player's will progress each year until they graduate at 22. Real stats are only used when they are first imported.
11. RED SHIRT
Each team can choose one newly drafted player per year to Red Shirt. This means he will be in-active for the entire season, but he will not age the next season, and thus, receives an extra progression.
12. TIE BREAKER
Tiebreaker order will go as followed: 1. Head to Head 2. Points Differential. 3. Pythagorean WPCT
13. POSTSEASON
All 12 teams make the end of the year tournament. It’s March Madness. Survive and Advance.
Top 4 seeds get a 1st round bye. One game per matchup.
