The Great Pitchers - Rookie to Hero

League Rules

The Basics
Welcome to Great Pitchers - Rookies to Heroes. This league will consist of great pitchers, starting in their rookie season, and the rosters they debuted in.
This a real stats/real life progression league. Players are drawn from throughout MLB history. Season is 162 games, division winners and one wild card qualify for playoffs. Two days off will be granted before start of playoffs.

No contracts. The reserve clause is in effect. Once you acquire a player he is yours until traded, released, retired, or dead.

Team owners can choose team names, logos, and park dimensions up until game 5, when they will be frozen.

A word about the player pool.

18 rosters will be initially imported to stock the league. The rosters, with the star rookie are as follow:
1911 Phillies - Grover Cleveland Alexander
1964 Tigers - Denny McLain
1952 Giants - Hoyt Wilhelm
1968 Mets - Nolan Ryan
1925 Athletics - Lefty Grove
1955 Dodgers - Sandy Koufax
1959 Cardinals - Bob Gibson
1995 Yankees - Mariano Rivera
1986 Cubs - Greg Maddux
2006 Tigers - Justin Verlander
1984 Red Sox - Roger Clemens
1936 Indians - Bob Feller
1967 Red Sox - Sparky Lyle
1932 Cardinals - Dizzy Dean
1890 Spiders - Cy Young
1981 Cubs - Lee Smith
1907 Senators - Walter Johnson
1977 Tigers - Jack Morris

Drafts
As players age out of the player pool the I will add teams to supplement the pool. The players will be dispersed via a slow draft (24 hour pick time limit) with teams drafting in order of finish the previous season, worst to first. Any owner who does not make his pick within the allotted 24 hours will be autopicked for by the commish and will be autopicked in all subsequent rounds. The first season rosters will be stocked via a random automated draft once all franchises have owners. This will put 24 players on each roster, to be followed by a 8 round free agent draft (draft order determined by roster strength, weakest team first), and then open free agency upon commencement of the season.

Rotation
Teams will use a four man rotation.

Awards
Post season awards will be given for batting title, homers, rbis, stolen bases, wins, E.R.A., strikeouts , saves, rookie of the year and World Series MVP.

Military Service or insufficient stats
Players who miss seasons due to military service will have those seasons skipped over and will be advanced to their next statistically significant season. This is the first time I've tried this and I think the commish tools will allow me to catch these occurances, but just the same owners should pay attention to players with pending military service to help ensure they are not overlooked.
Players who are advanced to a season with stats below league minimums (20 IP or 50 AB) will be advanced to their next statistically significant season.

Conduct
Trash talk is fine but overall treat others as you wish to be treated. Extended inactivity or unacceptable conduct can result in loss of franchise.

Problems
Any questions or problems please contact me and I will do my best to resolve ASAP. There will always be glitches and oversights, especially in the first season, and those extra eyes are always welcome.

Play Ball!!!!!

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
