League Rules
1) We start with 1941 rosters in the National League and 1946 in the American League and have an unpredictable progression. So players get 1 year older as usual each season. BUT the National League goes backwards. Imports the next seasons will be 1940, 1939 etc in the NL and 1947, 1948, etc in the AL. Players can get younger though, as described in the stat change section below.
2) The available teams are the following: NL- Braves, Cardinals, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Phillies, Pirates, Reds.
AL- A's, Browns, Indians, Red Sox, Senators, Tigers, White Sox, Yankees.
3a) Each year you will get all of that team’s imports. Original imports need 50 AB or 20 IP. Under 100 AB or 30 AB gets stats doubled. If a player played for more than one team, he goes to the one he played for most (AB or IP). Duplicates are allowed on the original teams only. If a player gets imported to an AL and NL team the same season, he goes to the earlier (NL) team. Future imports, starting season 2, will be set at 100/30.
3b) When we reach 1901, we will then go to 2024. How that will work is TBD.
4) Rosters: Major league – 26, plus 8 more in the minors.
5) No contracts
6) Trades: Trades will be unlimited, but you may not trade between your own teams.
7) 4 man rotations , WAR used instead of fire, Sims set to run every 3 hours
8) Duplicate players cannot co-exist in the league
9) Free agents will not be available because teams are going different directions.
10) 154 game schedule. No interleague play until the championship. Top 2 in each league makes the playoffs, then winner moves to the title game. Series are 2-3-2. Tie breakers are head to head, then point differential.
11) POSITION CHANGES:
Pitchers: If you are short of starters, or relievers, you can switch one (or more) to the other to fill a need.
Fielders: Will switch primary and secondary position when the secondary position was played 25% of the players career (by games played) or 35% of the present season.
12) Stat change and progression: There will be 1 stat change to the current season (must have 100 AB or 30 IP) per team. Starting in 1939, the National League will get 2 per season.. Progression age is set at 28/32 and uses unpredictable progression.
13) Rule on players that were pitchers and hitters. If you have a player that did both, you may have 1 in hitters and 1 in pitchers. But, they must use the same season, the hitter gets moved to DH with fielding of 0.500, and they take 2 roster spots. Players are still imported according to the above rules- duplicates are not allowed on different teams.
14) New and additional rules will be added when I think of them.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
