Weird use of long reliever

Weird use of long reliever

Weird. I named an RP as Long Reliever, then in the next game he came in second out of the bullpen in the 8th inning with a 6-0 lead. Would that be because it was deemed a blowout win and was trying to choose a crappy reliever so as not to waste others in my bullpen? I hope not, because he’s actually my second best reliever and I want him to come in in close games where my starters (who almost all have low stamina, haven’t been able to get through the 5th inning. I’d rather the SIM go to the bottom of my bullpen order in a blowout rather than using my long reliever.

Re: Weird use of long reliever

@GusPC13 yes I think that is what happens, you may have to live with that for a bit, I will put it on the list to take a look at.

Re: Re: Weird use of long reliever

Similar issue, but opposite direction: When my team is trailing by a score like 6-0 (or even 4-0), I’d rather the sim go to the bottom of my bullpen priority list than the top so that I don’t waste my best reliever for the next game by wearing himself out in an almost unwinnable game. That would be much more realistic bullpen usage in my opinion. Hopefully this is something you would consider, maybe even as a bullpen strategy setting. Thanks.

Re: Weird use of long reliever

It already does that, for 6 runs either way, unless runners are on base. Mostly nice, but I can’t tell you how many times my team has been up or down 6 in a playoff game and my bad relievers come in and make it worse/close.

Re: Re: Weird use of long reliever

Agree with that, YankeeBB. Would be good to be able to choose to toggle that off for playoffs.

Re: Weird use of long reliever

Postseason leverage index for RP would be very cool!
