Trivia ?
I don't know the answer to this and don't feel like looking it up at this time. If Indiana wins the cbp next week , will they be the 1st college post 1900 to win a chip and go undefeated in basketball and football ? If I had to guees I'd say army or ND but im sure someone knows . Going to be a great game hopefully
Re: Trivia ?
nothing i could find, ucla had a few basketball seasons but none in football that matched
Re: Trivia ?
San Francisco is an interesting case
An undefeated 1951 team that produced 3 hall of famers and 8 NFL players but they refused to play in a bowl game due to social issues and then the program disbanded after the season

Last undefeated college football Champion: Michigan 2023, 15-0. The last undefeated NCAA basketball champion in men's Division I was the Indiana Hoosiers, who finished the 1975-76 season with a perfect record of 32-0.
I grew up in Southern Indiana in the 50's and 60's - I was an IU basketball fan (like practically everyone there), but the football team was an afterthought. Went to the Rose Bowl in '68 on a technicality (tie breaker rule) and got beat 14-3 by the O.J. Trojans. IU was the WORST Div. 1 college football team in history - most losses, worst record. The turnaround has been remarkable to say the least. Say what you want about the portal system, but it has leveled the playing field. I watched the game last night with 2 friends, one a lifelong, grew up in Oregon, Ducks fan and the other a UCLA fan. They both said that they couldn't remember a more dominate college football team in their memory as Indiana has been the last 2 weeks. Props to Mark Cuban and John Mellancamp for their support. The Hoosiers embarrassed Alabama (screw 'em) and destroyed the Ducks last night as they just seem to IMPROVE each game !! The last team to go 16-0 in a college football season was Yale in 1894 - that's not a typo, 1894.
Hoo, Hoo, Hoo, Hoosiers !!

Technicaly tj moss is right but the Dons were not the college football champs that year but in my opinion any college fb champ pre playoff era was a technicallity . UW and Miami in 1991 comes to mind for me when they were named co champs . Once again my ? was not who the last unbeaten teams were it was has there ever been a college with a bb and fb team to go unbeaten and win the championship post 1900 .
Re: Trivia ?
@tjmoss86 i will be honest, i didn't even cross check sf for football!! did not know they even had a program
Re: Re: Trivia ?
@jimgriddy , florida did win championships in both but not undefeated that op had asked about. still impressive
Re: Re: Trivia ?
Was watching ESPN this morning and one of the women mentioned that Indiana would be the first college program to accomplish this. What amazes me is that the Hoosiers are known as more of a bball program than fball .
Re: Trivia ?
The Portal system and NIL payments have enabled schools to use donor money to pay players directly now. Indiana gets money from a variety of people, most prominently Mark Cuban and John Mellencamp, to pay players and coaches and invest in facilities. Mellencamp funded an indoor practice facility a few years ago. My guess is that you'll see IU's basketball program come back to a higher level also.
