For future reference, it's usually easier if you just add a link for the player card for the player in question, as copying and pasting the individual stats without de-cluttering them and adding a description for what numbers are which stats makes them incredibly difficult to read...

Very impressive though

Re: Re: amazing season!

thanks, i am not the most computer savvy person!! i am surprised this even worked!! lol
your post is much better!! thanks

Re: amazing season!

Rather unsatisfactory end to his season, lost game 1 of the world series then my soon to be fired manager decided to pull him after 7 shutout innings and only 81 pitches!! the bullpen promptly gave up 4 runs in 1/3 of an inning. hopefully his teammates pick him up in games 6 and hopefully 7. really can't figure out how a stamina of 127 gets pulled at 81 pitches and throwing a shutout. the manager is on thin ice!! 256.2 ip for the season, 7.8 innings per start, it is a real head scratcher

Re: Re: amazing season!

Hey so he was pulled because you have a setup man (Rivera) set to come in in the 8th inning and a closer (Chapman) set to come in in the 9th inning. Unfortunately there isn't any setting in the sim that says "if my pitcher is cruising along and well below his pitch count, don't bring in the setup guy." Which is what might happen in real life...
Tough break though - Rivera didn't have the cutter working!

Re: amazing season!

@krtyler11 so i guess i am a little more confused now! my starters are set for reaching pitch count or 5 er, on team strategy page setup is 8, closer is 9. so i don't understand why i threw 26 cg during the season. does bullpen setup override the starter limits? i have 27 teams set up the same way and mostly starters go much closer to pitch count. how do i setup not automatically having setup guy/closer come in? i don't see an option other than 6,7,8,9 or 7,8,9. thanks for your response.

Re: Re: amazing season!

Yeah it's a bit tricky to understand the logic because it isn't 100% clear about the sim's decision making. Here is my take:
If the game gets to the 8th inning and you are up by 3 or less (save situation), your manager will remove the starter and go to the setup guy. Same for the 9th inning with the closer.

So those 27 complete games may have fell outside that criteria (tie game, you're up by more than 3, or down). The only edge case I can think of is that the sim will keep the starter in if they're throwing a no-hitter.

Re: amazing season!

that makes sense, i guess i never really noticed it, i just figured the starter would maximize his stamina. no big deal, i was just surprised with his pitch count so low, he would have kept going. fortunately my manager saved his job and won games 6 and 7. game 6 on a walk off wild pitch!

Re: Re: amazing season!

Don't forget that you can change the settings to have your pitcher go beyond his pitch count .

Re: amazing season!

Ol' Pete Alexander was a drinker. Maybe he had one or two too many the night before. You just never know in this grand old game. Manager may have figured that was as far as he could go. And we'll never know. Pete could have gotten pounded same as Mariano. You just never know.

Re: Re: amazing season!

@jimmorack , at least he got to raise a toast for his teams title!! lol

Re: amazing season!

A SP won't get pulled until he reaches his pitch count or ER threshold. Even if you use a setup man and a closer. They won't come in until the starter reaches his limits.

Re: Re: amazing season!

@jimgriddy that was my thought but alexander had 7 shutout innings and 81 pitches and was replaced by the setup guy. just surprised by the move. lucky it all worked out anyway

Re: amazing season!

Jim no that isn’t true. Setup man always comes in 8th (or whatever inning you set) if it’s save type situation. Closer always comes in 9th in save situation. It doesn’t matter who was pitching before or how much they threw. It’s the whole point of setting a setup and closer, something I never do on PC because I feel like it has your best RPs pitching too little.

Re: Re: amazing season!

I remember hearing about Hack Wilson , he was a lowball hitter and a highball drinker lol . His rbi record is still one of the longest standing records in baseball even with the extra 8 games .

Re: Re: amazing season!

@yankeebb so in your team settings, you have to set what inning to bring those guys in, but if you don't assign anyone to that role they don't come in? or do they just wait till starter is tired? i have left a couple bullpens with no assigned roles but the top priority guys still get used in those situations

Re: amazing season!

I don’t use setup/closer and they just enter in order. Even down 4 I’d rather have my best RP come in next, not waiting for a save situation.

Re: Re: amazing season!

@yankeebb. Thank you for correcting me. Only my eight year maybe I'll catch on.Apologies for the misinformation. I am old.I guess I did that ass u me thing. I think I use a closer 1% of the time and set up man never.

Re: amazing season!

Additional note on Hack Wilson - he still has the most HR in a season in the NL by a non-steroid user with 59. Wilson was generously listed 5'6".
