Pennant chase 2026!!

Pennant chase 2026!!

Hello i want to give you praise, as i absolutely love this site!!!, now that you have the cool animation for the games thats awesome too!!! for the 2026 will there be an upgrade, like maybe better way to handle injuries, the reason im asking in my league a team had jacob degrom, and he played the whole season without getting injured he should have been injured and injured most of the season?

Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

Maybe I'm weird, but I actually like the randomness of the injuries as opposed to strictly following what happened in real life because the strength of a manager shines the brightest when you have to navigate the injuries that are going to occur over the course of a 162 game season.. When I ran my Strat-O-Matic leagues back in the day I made a set of 4 different injury charts that were consulted whenever an injury occurred and the chart that was consulted depended on the number of AB's the player had (if he was a positional player) ,the number of innings that were pitched (if he was a starting pitcher) or the SOM reliever rating if the player was a relief pitcher. The more AB's or IP's the player had the less severe the injury chart was. I would imagine that PC does something similar but that shouldn't mean that a player that has more than 500 Ab's shouldn't have a small chance of suffering a long term injury. If we take all the randomness out the game why have managers? Randomness is what playing this game fun as long as the randomness of the game is reasonable- nothing in life (or in the game of baseball) is guaranteed.

@banditelvis
If it is a custom league the commish may have injuries turned off.

Re: Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

Or dialed down - you are only in 4 leagues, all Custom, one of which is probably your sandbox. First of all, pitchers aren't injured nearly as much as batters, and even if injuries are on, the # of games each can be injured is at the discretion of the league/commisioner.

Re: Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

i am the commissoner injuries are on

Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

What does everyone do for injuries, i know some turn it off all together, but i would like injuries on, i do min 5 max 10, should i do more??, but degrom didnt miss any games in my simulation.

Re: Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to the length of injuries. I run 2 leagues. One is set to 20 days and the other is set for 30.

There are usually 3 types of gripes about injured players.
Player with multiple injuries.
Position with multiple injuries.
Injuries down the home stretch overlapping into the playoffs.

Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

I don't personally like long injuries in Customs. You work hard to put together competitive teams and I hate to see a season derailed by a 20-30 game injury to a key player - especially in Real Progression leagues. I don't need that level of realism in my Sims. I use 5-7 for hitters and 10 for pitchers. But there is no right or wrong - just what you and your league are comfortable with.

Re: Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

No one likes it when THEIR players get injured but injuries are part of the game. Think about it- how challenging is it to draft a team and setup a lineup? That can be done a few games into the season- what are you going to do the rest of the year as a manager if no one ever gets injured? What would be the point in making a trade-why would you ever need to use the waiver wire- why would you ever need to change your starting lineups or tweak your pitching rotations? Injuries is what seperates the men from the boys and it's why a baseball season is 162 games long which is why any league that I ever set up or participate in will always have injuries turned ON because I'm not afraid of a challenge- that's why I'm here!

Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

i mostly been playing favorite teams auto leagues in football, basketball, and baseball. it's interesting, that for the first 2 months i played i had zero injuries and didn't even know it was a part of the game, then these past 2 weeks i am getting injuries every day and i'm just curious if a setting or config was adjusted b/c i just couldn't understand how i went so long in over 20 diff leagues without any injuries then in 2026 i am having non-stop injuries. i can adapt but just wondering if anyone knows if there was any type of change made that caused this.

Re: Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

oh, i see now in the league settings most of my original leagues has a red circle with a line through it for batter and pitcher injuries i.e. baseball favorite teams auto league 310. so that explains it.

Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

so it doesnt bother you that a guy like jacob degrom who had only 20 innings in real baseball was able to complete a full season and pitch 200 innings?

Re: Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

hmm, that's not possible in auto leagues. the settings require a SP to have a minimum number of 100 innings pitched in the season to qualify as a SP so i haven't ever encountered that problem.

Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

hmmmmm so wait, i can set it up in settings and tell it to only show sp with at least 100 ip?

Re: Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

Autos are 85 IP for SP, Budget Fav Teams is 100 IP.

Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

ah, ok. yeah, i mainly play budget fav teams, so that's why i am familiar with the 100 innings min requirement for SP, thanks for clarifying the difference for standard auto leagues.

Re: Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

well technically they still show up but for example in budget fav team auto leagues if you try and use a SP with less than 100 innings in their season than they only get a max stamina of 40.

Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

I've tried the "Opener" SP thing with mixed results in Budget. Using one in my rotation during the regular season is OK, but when I've tried it with two, I wasn't happy with the results. Best case is to find a sub-100 guy with fatigue in the 50 - 59 range.

Re: Pennant chase 2026!!

im confused, i have a custom draft league, can i set the limit innings for sp?
