Player potential study

Study conducted on average progression of about 3200 players before season 24.

The average F player did not change AV
The average U player increased AV by 0.5
The average C player increased AV by 1.0
The average A player increased AV by 1.0
The average S player increased AV by 2.0

Passing:
Pass completion percentage doesn't really change, regardless of potential. S and A and C improved by around 2 TD per season. Interceptions dropped around 8 percent per year regardless of potential. Passing yards increased for all, from around 3pct F to 4-5 pct on C to S. Average fumble dropped slightly.

Receiving:
Aside from F, almost all improved yards around 100-133 per season and 6-8 catches. Touchdowns all improved at about the same rate but low (0.3 per season U through S). Fumbling didn't change much.

Rushing:
Aside from F, almost all improved yards around 80-100 per season but yards per attempt were almost identical. Touchdowns all improved at about the same rate but low (0.2 per season U through S). Fumbling didn't change much.

Offensive Line:
Improvements to yards in U, A, A all marginal but injuries decreased at all levels.

Kicking:
Improvements were pretty consistent, two FGA and FGM, one yard max. No real advantage to stats, just AV.

Punting:
No real change to average stats.

Defensive line:
Most stats were pretty equal U, C, A, S but sacks increased more in A and S (about double the rate of lower potential)

Linebackers:
C, A, S were all about twice as productive as U in improvement across the board.

Defensive backs:
Interceptions improved by about 1/2 per season in A and S, not much at other levels. Similar other changes on other stats (A and S better).

Bottom line analysis: if you believe that AV is important then strive to get to S. If you're a gambler then U is for you. Otherwise maybe spending points to get to A on two U players is more useful than taking one U player to S.
