Atlanta Braves - 2005 World Series Champion
The Atlanta Braves swept the Minnesota Twins to win the 2005 World Series 4 games to 0.Game 1 was a pitching battle. The Braves David Nied pitched a complete game 2 hit shutout striking out 7, and Benji Sampson went 7 2/3 innings pitching a 2 hit shutout striking out 9. In the top of the 9th, the Braves broke the tie on a sac fly by Frank Catalanotto sending Felix Escalona home with the winning run. Braves 1, Twins 0.
In Game 2, the Twins went into the 6th inning with a 5-1 lead. Jacque Jones hit a solo homer in the 2nd and Phil Hiatt hit a 2 run homer in the 3rd. The Braves narrowed the lead in the 6th on Chipper Jones’ 2 run homer. Rafael Furcal gave the Braves the lead 6-5 with a 3 run homer in the 7th. The Braves added a run in the 9th to take the victory 7-5.
Game 3 was a great game. The Braves scored first in the 4th on a RBI double by Andres Galaraga. The Twins tied the game 2-2 in the top of the 5th on Chad Allen’s RBI single. An error by Furcal allowed the Twins to take a 4-2 lead in the top of the 6th but the Braves answered in the bottom half taking a 5-4 lead on Jermaine Dye’s solo homer and Adrian Brown’s 2 run triple. The teams swapped runs in the 7th. The Twins took the lead 7-6 in the 8th on RBI singles by Jones and Mientkiewicz. The Braves rallied in the bottom of the 9th tying the game on Furcal’s RBI double and winning the game on Dye’s RBI single, 8-7.
Kevin Millwood brought the Championship to Atlanta pitching a complete game 5 hit shutout, striking out 8. Andruw Jones hit a solo homer in the 3rd, and Lopez hit a 2 run homer in the 7th giving the Braves the win and the World Championship, 4-0.
Adrian Brown was the Series MVP with a .385 Avg, 1.308 OPS, 2 doubles, 1 triple and 3 RBI
Phil Hiatt led the Twins on offense with a .500 Avg, 1.786 OPS, 2 doubles, 1 home run and 2 RBI.

Philadelphia Phillies - 2004 World Series Champions
The Philadelphia Phillies won the 2004 World Series 4 games to 1 over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The Series was a good one, with three of the games going to extra innings.The Phillies’ Calvin Maduro (7.2 IP, 3 hits, 2 runs) and the Rays’ Rolando Arrojo (7.1 IP, 4 hits, 2 runs) battled in Game 1, with the game going to extra innings. The Phillies broke the tie, scoring 3 in the top of the 12th with a RBI double by Johnny Estrada and a RBI single by Juan Uribe. The Rays rally fell short, and the Phillies took the opener 5-3.
The Rays Brandon Webb (7.2 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs) and the Phillies’ Paul Wilson (8.1 IP, 3 hits, 3 runs) battled in Game 2, with the game again going to extra innings. Terrell Lowery put the Rays up 2-0 with a 2 RBI double in the 1st. The Phillies took the lead in the 6th with a solo homer by Ruben Mateo, and a RBI by Juan Encarnacion. Lowery tied the game in the bottom of the 9th with a 2 out RBI single. The Rays took the Game 5-3 on D’Angelo Jimenez’s walk off 2 run homer.
The Phillies pulled off a miracle comeback in a thrilling Game 3. Aubrey Huff opened the scoring for the Rays on a RBI single and Lowery’s sac fly. Mateo gave the Phillies the lead 3-2 in the 2nd on Mateo’s 2 run homer. Joe Vitello’s 2 run homer in the 4th put the Rays back on top 4-3. Huff hit a solo homer in the 5th, and the Rays used 4 walks in the 7th to take the lead 8-3. The Phillies rallied in the 8th, scoring 8 runs with a 2 run homer by Jason Michaels, a solo homer by Scott Rolen and a grand slam by John Olerud. Final score Phillies 12, Rays 8.
Game 4 was another terrific game, once again going to extra innings. The Rays scored 2 in the 1st on Mike Kinkade’s RBI double and Chris Magruder’s RBI single. The Phillies tied the game 2-2 in the 2nd on Rolen’s RBI triple and Lieberthal’s sac fly. The Rays took a 4-2 lead, scoring a run in the 4th and a run in the 7th on Winn’s solo homer. The Phillies tied the game 4-4 in the bottom of the 7th on Michaels’ 2 run single sending the game into the 10th. The Phillies took the win 5-4 as Encarnacion tripled and scored on Rolen’s sac fly.
Game 5 was another great game. Huff opened the scoring for the Rays with a 2nd inning solo homer. The Phillies took the lead 2-1 in the 4th with solo homers by Alou and Michaels. In the top of the 5th, Winn tied the game for the Rays with a solo homer, and in the bottom half, Mateo put the Phillies back on top 3-2 with a solo homer. The Rays took the lead 5-3 in the top of the 7th on a 2 run single by Magruder and a RBI double by Huff. The Phillies struck right back in the bottom half of the 7th with a 3 run homer by Michaels. The Phillies held on to win the Championship with a 6-5 victory.
Jason Michaels was on fire in the Series, winning the Series MVP, batting .538 with a 2.385 OPS, 2 doubles 3 home runs and 9 RBI.
Aubrey Huff led the Devil Rays on offense batting .364 with a 1.318 OPS, 2 doubles 2 homers and 4 RBI.

New York Mets - 2003 World Series Champion
The New York Mets defeated the Anaheim Angels 4 games to 1 to win the 2003 World Series.The Angels build a 6-2 lead only to take a tough loss to open the series in Game 1. With the score tied at 2 in the 5th, the Luis Alicea put the Angels on top 5-2 with a 3 RBI double. The Mets rallied began in the 7th on Jason Kendal’s 2 RBI double. Gregg Jeffries tied the game at 6-6 in the 8th with a RBI double, and Bobby Abreu put the Mets on top 8-6 with a RBI triple. The Angels Bengie Molina hit a solo homer in the 9th falling one short 8-7.
In Game 2, the Mets took a 4-0 lead in the 3rd on Kendall’s RBI triple and Roberto Alomar’s RBI double. Kendall added an RBI in the 4th, putting the Mets on top 6-1. The Angels added 2 runs in the 8th on Herb Perry’s 2 RBI single, but the Mets took the win 7-4.
Ken Cloude pitched a 2 hit complete game shutout, striking out 8, to give the Mets a 3 games to none Series lead. David Dellucci’s 2 RBI single in the 4th helped the Mets take a 5-0 victory.
The Angels avoided the sweep with a 7-4 victory in Game 4. Erstad hit a 2 run homer in the 1st to give the Angels a 3-0 lead. The Mets chipped away at the lead, tying the game at 3-3 in the 5th on Durazo’s RBI. Shane Monahan hit a pinch hit 3 run homer in the 8th to give the Angels the win.
In Game 5 Jason Bere took the win, holding the Angels to 1 run on 5 hits in 8 innings. Todd Greene put the Angels on top in the 3rd with a RBI single. Brogna tied the game for the Mets with a 5th inning RBI single. Jeffries put the Mets on top with a solo homer in the 6th, and added a RBI single in the 8th giving the Mets the World Championship with a 3-1 victory.
Gregg Jeffries won the Series MVP with a .500 Avg, 1.667 OPS with 3 doubles, 1 HR and 5 RBI
Darin Erstad led the Angels on offense with a .278 Avg, 1.167 OPS, 2 doubles 1 HR and 3 RBI

Milwaukee Brewers - 2002 World Series Champions
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Oakland A’s 4 games to 2 to win the 2002 World Series.Cy Young winner Jeff D’Amico pitched a 5 hit complete game shutout for the Brewers in Game 1. Edgard Clemente hit a 3 run homer in the 5th and a 2 run homer in the 7th and Ronnie Belliard hit a 3 run homer in the 7th to give the Brewers a 10-0 victory.
In Game 2, Clemente hit his 3rd homer, a 3 run shot, in the 1st to open the scoring for the Brewers. In the 3rd, the A’s narrowed the lead to 4-3 on Ben Grieve’s 3 run homer. The Brewers’ Geoff Jenkins hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 3rd to expand the Brewers lead 5-3. Down 6-4 in the top of the 9th, Grieve hit his 2nd homer of the game, a 2 run shot to send the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the 11th, Jeff Cirillo hit a 2 out single to give the Brewers the victory 7-6.
Steve Karsay took the mound for the A’s and held the Brewers to 1 run on 6 hits to give the A’s their first victory of the Series, 6-2. Chavez and Ramon Hernandez hit back to back 5th inning Homers in the 4th to put the A’s on top 3-1. Tony Batista added a 2 run homer in the 7th to give the A’s the win.
Mike Mimbs held the A’s to 2 runs on 5 hits in Game 4, but Barry Zito was just a little better holding the Brewers to 1 run on 3 hits, giving the A’s a 2-1 victory and tying the Series at 2-2. Zito’s wild pitch in the 1st allowed the only Brewers run. Grieve’s 5th inning RBI double tied the game, and Jason Giambi followed with a RBI single giving the A’s the win.
D’Amico got his 2nd win of the Series in Game 5 giving the Brewers a 3-2 Series lead. The Brewers took an early 3-0 lead scoring on a RBI by Brian Banks in the 1st and a RBI double by Belliard in the 2nd. The A’s narrowed the lead to 4-2 in the 5th on back to back solo homers by Piatt and Stairs. Clemente responded with a 2 run homer in the 6th, giving the Brewers a 6-2 lead. The exchanged runs, and the A’s attempted a comeback in the 9th, but fell short, 8-6.
Wayne Franklin pitched a 2 hit shutout in Game 6, leading the Brewers to a 5-0 victory. Clemente and Banks started the scoring with RBI singles in the 1st giving the Brewers a 2-0 lead. Clemente added an RBI single in the 3rd, bringing the World Series Championship to Milwaukee.
The Series MVP went to the Brewers’ Edgard Clemente who batted .276 with a 1.455 OPS, 4 home runs and 12 RBIs.
Eric Chavez led the A’s on offense with a .438 Avg, 1.688 OPS, 4 doubles 1 Home Run and 2 RBI.

New York Mets - 2001 World Series Champions
The New York Mets swept the Boston Red Sox 4 games to 0 to win the 2001 World Series.The Mets dominated Game 1, scoring 16 runs on 16 hits, building a 15-0 lead through 5 innings. Gregg Jeffries had 4 hits with 2 doubles, Jason Kendall had 3 hits, a double and home run to lead the way. The Red Sox narrowed the lead in the bottom of the 9th, but could not get close. Mets 16, Red Sox 8.
The Mets pitching staff took control the rest of the Series, Jason Bere went the distance in Game 2, holding the Red Sox to 1 run on 5 hits, striking out 5. Jeffries hit a 2 run homer in the 1st, and Kendall hit a 2 run double in the 2nd leading the Mets to a 7-1 victory.
Dwight Gooden held the Red Sox to 1 run on 6 hits, striking out 6 to get the victory in Game 3. Chris Donnels opened the scoring for the Mets with a 2 run homer in the 2nd. Bobby Abreu closed the scoring for the Mets with a 2 run homer in the 7th in route to a 6-1 victory.
Mo Sanford took the win in Game 4 holding the Red Sox to 1 run on 3 hits, giving the Mets the Championship. The Rico Brogna had a 1st inning RBI and Donnels doubled in a run in the 4th to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. Brian Daubach hit a solo homer in the 5th for the Red Sox to narrow the lead to 2-1. Kendall hit a 3 run homer in the 7th to extend the Mets lead, 5-1, and the Red Sox got a run in the 9th on Plantier’s solo homer, but fell short 5-2.
Bobby Abreu took the Series MVP for the Mets, with a .500 Avg, 1.688 OPS, 3 doubles, 1 home run and 7 RBI.
Phil Plantier led the Red Sox on offense with a .375 Avg, 1.750 OPS, 3 doubles and 2 home runs.
