League Rules
The BasicsAs stated on the home page, the league consists of a player pool drawn from historically lousy MLB teams. As players age out of the league, the commish will replenish the player pool using rosters of other crummy teams. These players will be dispersed via a two round slow draft (12 hour pick time limit) based on team record, worst to first. If owner doesn't pick within 12 period the commish will auto pick to move the draft along. For the first season any duplicate players were set to their earliest relevant season. Season is 162 games.
Draft Classes
Players' real life stats will be used for in the draft classes. If a player does not have enough AB (50) or IP (25) to meet the league minimums they will not be imported from that team.
Progressions
While teams will be imported using a player's real stats from then on players will use classic progressions until they peak at 28 years old and decline at the age of 32 if not on a team's roster. Players who are 31 or older who have an active contract will use an unpredictable progression giving the player the opportunity to extend their careers and get better is he ages.
Rosters
This is a no contract league. Players on your roster are essentially yours until they are either traded, dropped or retired.
Superstar Progression
Every other year (even numbered seasons) each team may choose one player to have one player take an all star type progression over the normal classic progression. To qualify for this a player must be 27 years old or younger. A player can not receive more than one Superstar progression in his career.
Slump Buster
Players can be on slump buster for 5 real days.
Getting Started
For season one, once all teams have owners, I will conduct a CPU Automatic Draft. From what I have seen in commish practice, this should fill all rosters randomly with 24 players. After this takes place, a notice will be posted giving date and time for open free agency to fill remaining roster spots. Drops will also turn on when open free agency does. Free agency will remain open all season, except during playoffs.Team cities, names, and logos will not be changed. After filling rosters a notice will be posted to submit any wanted changes to home park dimensions. Once dimensions are changed they will stay in place for duration of season. Owners may also select home park name.
Playoffs
Each division winner will qualify for playoffs. The next best team will automatically qualify and two wildcard teams will be play into the main playoff rounds. There will be a one day rest period given to all teams. An additional rest day will be given between the wildcard round and the start of the main draw. In the event of a tie, a one game tiebreaker will be held. No additional time off will be granted before this tie-breaker.
Two days rest will be granted after final first round playoff game before beginning of League Championship.
Rotation
Teams will use a five man rotation.
Trades
Trades are unlimited. Teams may trade anytime except during playoffs.
Awards
Awards will be given for MVP, Cy Young determined by the commish, based on leaders on the awards page.
Conduct
Treat your fellow owners as you would wish to be treated, like gentlemen. That being said, a little trash talk is fine by me. Owners who are not heard from over two weeks, without a prior notification to the commish, or run their franchise in a manner detrimental to the league, are liable to lose their franchise.
A Parting Word
Please bring any problems or conflicts to my attention ASAP and I will do my best to resolve them in a timely manner. As stated on the homepage, this is my first time as commish, so feedback is welcome. Now let's go have some fun with these misfits. PLAY BALL!!!!!!
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
