League Rules
Double Era Twist League1) 8 owners, 16 teams: Each owner with an OTL (Old Timers League) team and an YWL (Young Whippersnappers League) team. You cannot trade players between your teams. The OTL starts in 1910. The YWL starts in 1975. We will use only the original 16 franchises. Each franchise will be used once, either in one league or the other. Once one is taken in one league, it is not available in the other. For example, the Yankees get taken in the OTL, the Yankees are not available in the YWL.
2) Franchises will be selected with a letter drawing. A to H in the OTL, H to A in the YWL.
3) Once the teams are picked, each owner will pick a starting season for each of his players using stat change.
4) Each year you will get that team’s imports that aren't already in the league. In other words, if you start with the 1910 Yankees, for year two, you will get any additional player who played for the 1911 Yankees (not in the league).
5) Rosters: Major league – 26, plus 10 more in the minors
6) No contracts, no free agents, just imports. Unpredictable progression 28/32. Regression should begin at 32. Trading is only allowed within your league.
7) For imports, you will receive all players on your team who had 1 IP or 1 AB in the majors in the initial season. You then can stat change them to any previous season in which they met the minimum of 30 innings or 100 AB. To change stats in future seasons, players must have 30 IP or 100 AB. If a player has no usable season, he must be cut. Also, in the future imports will need those minimums. If a player played for more than one team in his import year, the team he played for first will get him. (Other than the initial season which allows duplicates). **Each team gets 2 stat changes per season starting in year 2**
8) 4 man rotations.
9) Duplicate players can co-exist in the league with the original rosters but not future imports. No duplicates allowed on the same team (i.e. the Phillies cannot have two Jim Bunnings.)
10) 16 teams, 2 leagues. Regular season will be 154 games: league winners and 2 wild cards make the playoffs in each league. All rounds will be best of 7 games. Seeding based on W-L record. Higher seed hosts. In the case of ties, the tie is broken by head-to-head record, then point differential.
11) POSITION CHANGES: Pitchers: If you are short of starters, or relievers, you can switch one to the other to fill a need.
Fielders: Will switch primary and secondary position when the secondary position was played 25% of the players career (by games played) or 35% of the present season.
12) New teams are not allowed to be brought in
13) Fatigue is on, WAR used for fire.
14) Player's that played as pitcher and in the field can be used, but the one in the field gets a fielding pct of 0 so he can only be usable at DH.
15) Commish reserves the right to add new rules if needed.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
