League Rules
Present Day League: Non-Eligible Teams: NYY, LAD, ATL1. Basic Pitch: I constantly look for ways to make every team competitive; otherwise, it’s a race to pick one of the 4 best teams, and you can make money betting on the league champion every year.
Over a period of time, every team has some good years. By allowing every owner the chance to pick their own starting year, you allow every team to be competitive.
In terms of duration, this league will run until a team plays all of it’s years. For example, if someone picks the Diamondbacks, we will run a maximum of 27 seasons.
Pick one of the eligible teams. Pick a year to begin between 1969 and 2024. Get your players, set your lineups. Play.
Non-Eligible Teams: NYY, LAD, ATL. If the league runs 27 years, these teams can be picked in a way where there are never back-to-back losing seasons.
2. How are players acquired?
Pick a season between 1969 and 2024 to start from. You get all the players with either 25 IP or 70 AB. Each year thereafter, you get your entire roster with 100 AB or 35 IP. After 2024, your next year’s imports are 1969. If your team did not exist in 1969, it would be whatever year your franchise began play.
You are entitled to skip strike-shortened and COVID-shortened seasons: 1981, 1994, 1995, 2020. You MUST, however, convey this fact to the commissioner BEFORE the end of the World Series of the previous season. If you are on the 2019 season, and the World Series ends, and you have been silent, you will be getting the 2020 imports, not 2021. Once I import rookies for you, I will not go back, remove them, and import new rookies.
You will have to eliminate duplicates on your roster. But you can choose which one you cut. Until games start: After game 1, I will resolve duplicates on the same team, and if they exist, I will cut the better player. Additionally, after game 2, I reserve the right to fix any roster that is not in compliance with league limits. You might not like the way I do it: please, do it yourself before game 1. If you are short on time, request an extension before games start.
3. Updating personnel:
Progressions: type: Unpredictable. Plateau range: 30 - 32.
Imports and Minimums? 100 AB/35 IP
No Trades, no stat changes, no draft, nor waiver claims. Everybody has a different year, maybe even a different era.
4. League set up, number of games, rotation size, injury length, and roster size:
Set up: To be determined
162 game season. 4-man rotation during year 1; 5 -man rotations thereafter. Injuries? 5 games for a position player, and 8 games for a pitcher. Rosters: 26/14
5. Playoffs: As of this writing we have 18 teams. So, three 6-team divisions. 3 division champs, 8 wild cards. The wild cards play best-of-3 series until one is left; the division champs and the wild card team play best-of-7 until a World Champion is picked.
Rules about ties for a playoff spot:
A wild card team never hosts a series against a non-wild card team.
If teams tie for a playoff spot:
⇒ If both teams would be “in”, use head to head record as a tiebreaker. Run differential is the 2nd tie-breaker.
⇒ If one is in, the other is out, 1 game playoff (@ head 2 head winner)
MY BASIC EXPECTATIONS OF EACH OWNER:
⇒ Your commitment is season to season. When you join, you will be expected to actively run your team until the end of the season, which is when the regular season ends for non-playoff teams, or when your playoff team is eliminated. If you quit mid-season without my blessing, I will share this information with other commissioners.
⇒ Actively running your team means that you read messages once per day, meet all deadlines, and communicate any difficulties to the commissioner.
⇒ I will provide a minimum of 48 hours between a posting of a deadline, and the deadline. Ignorance of the deadline will not be an excuse for failing to meet the deadline.
⇒ If you will be away, and unable to get your messages, give the commissioner advance notice. Inactivity for ten (10) days, or repeated failure to meet deadlines, may result in your being booted from the league.
⇒ Every owner is expected to field a team (9 pitchers and 11 fielders) every game. Failure to do so, making the sims not run, results in a forfeit.
⇒ Read and be familiar with the rules immediately upon joining: it may affect your desire to be in the league, or your desire to pick a certain team.

General rules:
Each offseason, you can switch a SP to RP, or a RP to a SP, but stamina will remain “as is.”. You can change it back the next offseason if you like, but no changes between first pitch and the last out of the World Series.
You can switch a player’s primary and secondary positions if they played 50% or more games THAT season at their secondary position, or at least 25% of their games for their career at their secondary position.
During an offseason, a player can be switched to the position they played most in their career, regardless of the requirements of General Rule #2.
You can switch a DH to his secondary position, as long as he has a fielding percentage.
Off season duties:
After Season 1: Double stats
Empty the free agent pool
Unpredictable progression after world series. Plateau range: 30 - 32.
Imports: You get all the imports from the next season (35 IP/100 AB minimum)
No Stat changes
Cuts to a certain roster limit: 26/14
Opening Day
Elastic Clause: I reserve the right to create new rules as necessary to deal with problems as they arise.
