League Rules

This is a league designed to keep any one team from having no hope from year to year. This is achieved by starting with the worst 20 teams from the 2022 season, and using random, unpredictable progression (not classic progression.) Players will "progress" until age 30, and begin to "regress" at age 35.

You begin with your team. You will get the 2022 players (minimum 30 IP and 75 AB). Pick your chosen team in the chat box -- first come, first served. After 10 owners join, we will each draft a second team.

The 2022 season, like each season, will be played 4 times, with "progression", not aging, after each of the first 3 seasons. After the fourth, imports will be imported, and players will age, in addition to "progression."

Unlimited trades, but NO stat changes. Waiver claims once the season starts. Rosters will start seasons at 26/35, but can swell to 40 during the season, but must return to 26/35 during the next spring training.

For 2022B, you will be allowed to pick an All-time player to add to your roster. The player and season you pick:

1) Must be from the 1900's
2) The season you pick must be from your team (i.e. if the Red Sox pick Jimmie Foxx. they can't pick 1932 because he played for the A's that year.)
3) Minimum appearances: 200 AB, or 150 IP for a SP, or 75 IP for a relief pitcher.
4) For 2022C, he gets progressed, or replaced by a different all-time player from your team

Playoff Seeding: rank playoff teams by record. Otherwise, you risk punishing the top seed. Wild cards will be seeded by record, but will not "host" a playoff series, unless the opponent is also a wild card team.

Ties: If teams tie for a playoff spot:

⇒ If both teams would be “in”, use head to head record as a tiebreaker.
⇒ If one is in, the other is out, 1 game playoff (@ head 2 head winner)

Playoffs elaborated:
10(!) teams make the playoffs: 5 division winners and 5 wild card teams. These teams are ranked by record. In case of ties:
a) A division winner always gets the nod over a wild-card team.
b) If both teams are "in", head-to-head decides the higher seed. If they are still tied, then run differential decides the higher seed. If they are still tied, then I will go by their power rank. If they are still tied, I will make a very arbitrary decision.
c) If only one team would be "in", then they have a 1-game playoff.

d) The top 4 seeds get a bye in the first round. 5 hosts 10, 6 hosts 9, and 7 hosts 8 in a best-of-3 round.
e) reseeding occurs: 2 hosts 7, 3 hosts 6, and 4 hosts 5 (1 gets a bye). Best-of-5.
f) reseeding occurs: 1 hosts 4, 2 hosts 3 -- best-of-7 round.
g) World Series: best-of-7.

At the conclusion of the 4th and final season of any one seasons' stats, expect a playoff for an absolute World Champion. If any team wins the World Series twice (of the four years), that team automatically advances to the World Series (as if one bracket were Phillies vs. Phillies, for example). If one team wins three times, that team plays the other team in 2 best of-seven series. If one teams wins all 4 seasons, it is automatically the World Champion.

Teams: 26/35 rosters; 5 man rotation, 11 players (incl. 2 catchers), 9 p minimum. Minimums: 35 IP, 100 AB going forward whenever imports are imported.

At game 140, waivers and trades will be turned off until after the World Series.

⇒ Your teams will not play each other unless they both make the playoffs.
⇒ You may not trade players between your teams. This is a boot-able offense. However, you can choose to not retain a player on one team, and then draft him on another one of your teams.

GENERAL RULES: Each offseason, you can switch a SP to RP based on need. You can switch a player’s primary and secondary positions if they played 50% or more games THAT season at their secondary position, or at least a third of their games for their career at their secondary position.

Initial Player Rules: Players should be on the team he had the most IP/AB for. Any disputes as to where a player belongs must be made before the first pitch of that new season, or the right to complain is deemed to be waived.

CONDUCT
MY BASIC EXPECTATIONS OF EACH OWNER:
⇒ Your commitment is season to season. When you join, you will be expected to actively run your team until the end of the season, which is when the regular season ends for non-playoff teams, or when your playoff team is eliminated.
⇒ Actively running your team means that you read messages once per day, meet all deadlines, and communicate any difficulties to the commissioner. If you will be away, and unable to get your message, give the commissioner advance notice. Inactivity for ten (10) days, or repeated failure to meet deadlines, may result in your being booted from the league.
⇒ Read and be familiar with the rules immediately upon joining: it may affect your desire to be in the league, or your desire to pick a certain team.

Please keep all conversations clean
Please don't be rude to fellow owners
Please be active, if not active for 14 days you may be removed from the league
We all love baseball and that's why we're here. So Just have fun and enjoy!

OFF SEASON DUTIES:

Unpredictable progression after world series.

Imports: Every 4 seasons, your next year’s players will be imported on your roster as long as they are not already in the league.

Turn drops and trades on, and return rosters to 26/35

Trades (all season 99) Trade deadline is game 140. No trades are permitted between game 140 and the end of the World Series.

In addition to a Cy Young and a MVP Award, there will also be a Manager of the Year Award given to the owner with the best combined record.

ELASTIC CLAUSE: I reserve the right to create new rules as necessary to deal with problems as they arise.

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
