2020 OLD SCHOOL ALL STAR FANTASY BASEBALL LEAGUE
League Constitution
LEAGUE TYPE
This is a simulated baseball league. You will try to form the best team for REAL baseball, not fantasy baseball.
You will draft the greatest players of all time during the years 1900 - 1979. You will play a head to head schedule and earn wins and losses based on computer simulated games. There will be a playoff and, of course, a World Series.
DISCLAIMER
This is not meant to be an all-inclusive list of rules. There may occur times when a unique situation may not be specified in the rule book. Any controversies not specified in the rule book, or the rule book interpretations, are settled by a full league vote (majority rules). If the vote is tied, the Commish determines the outcome.
RULE CHANGES
Before the start of a season, issues and rule changes may be raised by any owner and voted on by the league. An existing rule specified in the Constitution, may be changed only if 66% of the owners agree.
ANNUAL FEE
Annual fee is determined on a yearly basis. Current year fee is $25. Fees are due prior to the draft. No administration fee for the commissioner will be necessary in the current year. All games will be forfeited until initial fee is paid.
TEAM NAME & LOGO
In an effort to create some laughs and fun, we require team owners to voluntarily create a new team name and logo each season. The only requirements are as follows:
1-name and logo have not been used previously
2-needs to be a logo, not a real life photograph, or word art, etc.
3-no vulgarity or nudity
4-no professional team names, i.e. Red Sox; Dodgers, etc.
Your name and logo must ultimately be approved by the Old School Marketing Department (my wife Karen). This year, your name and logo must be submitted and approved by Monday, March 23rd, midnight (for marketing purposes). If you are not approved by the deadline, a team name and logo will be provided for you. You do not want that.
The prior year champion can keep his name and logo and is not required to voluntarily submit a new one.
DRAFT
The draft must take place before the regular season begins. This year?s draft is scheduled for Saturday, March 25, 2020, 7:30 pm. Draft is a snake draft and draft order is randomly determined on draft day.
ROSTERS
The number of players per roster will be 28. There is no requirement as to the number of players required at each position other than you are allowed a maximum of 18 hitters and 18 hitters.
TRANSACTIONS
All free agents are added through waivers. Waivers runs immediately following each game. An owner may add a maximum of two players per waiver run. Waiver order is determined on reverse order of standings and resets after each game. There will be no fee for each free agent added to your roster.
TRADES
An owner may trade players on his roster with any other owner at any time prior to the trade deadline. The trade deadline is right before the start of Game #67.
All trades must be made by the website?s trade feature and must be approved by the commissioner. Once both owners ?accept? the trade, the commissioner will automatically be notified by the website. The commissioner will make certain the trade meets the trade requirements set forth below before accepting. If not, the trade will be nullified.
The following is a list of specifics that need to be followed when making trades:
1) Trades must be no more than 2 players for 2 players.
2) You cannot trade a player back to the same owner you received him.
3) You are allowed a maximum of 2 trades with each owner per season.
4) You are allowed a maximum of 15 trades per season.
If any of the above requirements are not complied with, the trade will be nullified. There is no fee for each trade.
INJURIES
The computer will simulate player injuries throughout the course of the season. Commish has set players injuries for a maximum of 3 games and pitcher injuries for a maximum of 6 days.
SCHEDULE
The league plays a head to head format. The Schedule is determined on an annual basis and is dependent on the number of teams. Detailed schedules will be accessible prior to the start of the season. In 2020, each team will play a 3 game home series and a 3 game away series versus each team.
LINEUPS
2 games are played each day. Commish will initiate simulations no sooner than 1 pm est and again at 8 pm est. You may adjust your lineup up until Commish initiates the simulation. Each owner is responsible for making his own arrangements for times when internet access is not available (vacations, computer problems, etc).
The Commish has the ability to make lineup changes for other owners. If you encounter any problems setting your lineup, try to contact the Commish. The Commish IS NOT OBLIGATED but will try to accommodate you as a courtesy PROVIDED:
1) you contact him BEFORE the lineup deadline AND
2) the Commish has the ability to access the website BEFORE the lineup deadline.
If the Commish cannot get to the website before the deadline, you are shit out of luck.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Any player can be played at any position. The computer simulation will reflect players playing out of position.
SCORING
The computer simulates a real baseball game and will indicate the winner and loser of each game. A box score and game script is provided for your review.
DIVISIONS
The league is divided into 2 divisions. Each year, division alignment is based on the draft order. teams drafting out of the odd numbered slots are in one division and teams drafting out of even numbered slots will be in the other division.
PLAYOFFS
Each division winner makes the playoffs and is seeded 1 and 2. The next 6 best teams (by w-l record) make the playoffs as wildcard teams and are seeded 3,4,5,6,7, and 8. Standings tiebreakers are as follows: 1) greatest run differential 2) head to head record 3) greatest run differential head to head 4)coin flip. Ties for final playoff spot(s) will be settled by a play in game on the day immediately following the last game of the regular season. Home field will be determined by the tiebreak rules above.
There will be one computer generated "off" (rest) day for players between the end of the regular season (including play in games) and the first playoff game and each round of the playoffs. Each round of the playoffs only begins once all series from the previous round are completed. For teams that advance and must wait for the next series, each game day will generate a day of rest while waiting.
All playoff series will be best of 7 (2-3-2 format). Game 7s will be saved for the night game so it can be viewed in prime time by our viewing audience across the nation. The following series will begin the next day at 1pm with a computer generated "off" (rest) day squeezed in there for players.
