How does this happen ?
How does this happen ?
In war league 1588 , the wizz kids use a 4 man rotation . How do you only use the same 4 pitchers when you need 4 days rest ? Is this some kind of glitch because he doesn't have any other sps on his roster. If this is the case it will change the way I draft in those leagues.
Re: How does this happen ?
Good question, something is screwy in league 1588, in more ways than one.
The WAR Budget Draft requires 5 SP for the team to be completed, but the "Wizz Kids" have 4 SP on the roster.
The SPs' performances are not clearly diminished as the sim should be doing to them by pitching tired every outing.
My Jays are scheduled to face SP Wheeler the next game. Wheeler (rank 86) already has 5 starts (5-0, 36 IPs) in 19 total games, and currently "needs" 2 days rest; SP Moyer (rank 39) needs 1 days rest, but Wheeler is scheduled to start the next game.

Something is rotten in the state of Pennsylvania.

Re: Re: How does this happen ?
Wheeler wont start the next game, but since all SP are tired it lists the top one in rotation. But the one needing least rest will actually get the start (Moyer). That’s been a schedule bug forever.
Since it's quick draft, you have to draft 5 SP. They changed Oswalt to an RP, and seems the sim doesn't recognize the need to force add another SP.
I wouldnt say the pitchers arent feeling the effects of pitching tired, they are pitching pretty poorly.

Re: How does this happen ?
Yes yankee is right, though does seem to be a glitch as this team should be getting forced to add a SP - auto leagues force-add SPs if you're under the min. I'll take a look at it.
Re: Re: How does this happen ?
No matter how swell a team's hitting, four SPs pitching tired for 15 total starts should not produce a 16-3 record (even with 6 games against filler teams), especially given the Kids have a below-average defense.
Two undefeated SPs, both pitching 4 starts tired, and one sporting a 1.17 WHIP, the other with a 1.37 WHIP (typical for a 66 rank), does not say diminished performance.
Wheeler is an 89 rank, not a 189 rank. Pitching 29.2 innings tired over four games with a below-average defense and giving up a total of 28 hits in those innings is not diminished; if that is considered a tired pitcher, the tired pitcher penalty needs to be increased.
In my opinion, the tired pitcher penalty has never been harsh enough; the 16-3 Wizz Kids make that case better than my opinion.

Re: How does this happen ?
Uhh. Guys... You know there IS a 5th SP there right? 9 rank Doc Ayers
Hes not getting appearances though, THATS the part thats strange. But if youre wondering why theres nothing forcing him to get a 5th SP, thats because he DOES have 5 of them. Just 4 in the rotation
Unless he wasn't there yesterday when this thread first was posted?

Re: How does this happen ?
Yes Skooler, Ayers was just auto-added and has now pitched the most recent game, so I guess Guy fixed something.
Re: How does this happen ?
Yeah seeing him be the last-used SP was what made me edit that post and add that last bit. Didn't catch that part initially
Re: Re: How does this happen ?
Embarrassingly, I never realized the "Change Role" has a window to change the pitcher after the draft is complete, a la Oswalt in ybb's response.
That is a fun strategic wrinkle.

Re: How does this happen ?
@RagingSol , where do you find this option? i can't seem to find it. is it only available in certain types of leagues?
Re: How does this happen ?
Favorite teams and single year league formats only I believe
And it'll be under the same tab as the "Compare Across Leagues", "See League History", and "See Other Seasons Available" options when you select the little arrows next to player names while on your roster page

Re: How does this happen ?
Also forgot to mention that the option to switch is only available to pitchers that have at least one start AND one relief appearance in the chosen season
So for example, a RP with 34 relief appearances but no starts and a SP with 26 starts but no relief appearances can NOT be switched but a pitcher with 14 starts AND 16 relief appearances CAN be switched, if that makes sense
