Starting a player @ DH
Starting a player @ DH
Gentlemen,
In a conversation with a fellow PC player, it was mentioned that starting a player @ DH does NOT count as a game played for player rest requirements. Is this true? I tested out the theory by moving a player that had 1 game left before I needed to sit him to DH and when I popped back out to the team page that player's rest chart did not reset so I guess the question is this- does moving a player to DH have no effect on a player's rest chart (meaning that the player's rest chart will continue to count down after the DH game is played) or does moving him to DH not have any effect on rest chart at all (the rest chart doesn't reset but it doesn't continue to count down either) or was the advice I received flat out incorrect?
Also, what is the deal with the statistics that are bolded? What does the bolding indicate? Can anyone give me some insight on this?
Thanks for advice- based on my team's collective performance I can use all the help I can get!

Re: Starting a player @ DH
As far as I have been able to tell, when you put a player at DH, his need for rest resets.
For example, if you have a player that needs to rest every 5 games, if he counts down to "now" and you put him at DH for the next game, he will reset to 5 again.
Its one of the loopholes you can use to keep a key player in your lineup all season if he normally requires a lot of rest.
As far as the bold, other than helping statistics stand out for players that had a good season in a particular category, im not sure how the algorithm decides where that cutoff is in any particular league, or if the bold can be utilized to help you set lineups and strategy in any way other that basic "bold is good".

Re: Re: Starting a player @ DH
My understanding is that putting player at DH doesn't reset the countdown, but freezes it. So if a guy is down to 1 day before he needs a rest day, you can play him at DH indefinitely until a day off, then it resets. But its super useful if you do have a one of the 'half-season monsters' (your Matts Olson and Carpenter, for example), you can play them all season with no need for rest days (despite their endurance of 5) by putting them at DH. Cycling them in and out of DH all season seems a little too tedious to me.
And the bolding just seems to be a percentile thing to me. Like if a player is the top 10th percentile of the player pool in a certain category, it gets bolded.

A player at DH does not get tired. Also, if you start a player at DH his need for rest will reset to his endurance level. This works if a players number of games until needing rest is 1 or higher. If it says "now" the player must be rested before they can play again. I use this in custom leagues to rotate my best players through the DH position so that they never have to sit out a game. This is something I think about during roster construction.
Regarding the Bold, I believe it's the top 10% of the categories used to determine rank.

Excellent information guys - thank you. The reason I was questioning the advice I recd is that I had a guy that said he needed rest so Iput hinm at DH and his rest didn't reset as I that it would just as one of the guys said on here. This helps alot- thanks again for the great info!
