Sterling is up there with the all time great announcers, Vin Scully, Jack Buck, Harry Carey, etc. To truly appreciate him, you would have to be a Yankee fan (I'm just the opposite), but he had a very unique style.

Ted Turner passed today , I forgot that Sterling worked for the Braves from 82-87 . Turner made himself manager for one game in 1977 but NL president Chub Feeney overruled him and said it was a conflict of interest. Commish Bowie Kuhn upheld the decision
