Re: Random July Baseball Thought

Re: Random July Baseball Thought

Exactly Dempsey- radio was the "Golden Age" of baseball because a good color commentator could make you feel like you were in the park watching the game without being in attendance. Here in Cincinnati, the Reds made WLW- the home of the most powerful radio tower in the nation- and some would say that WLW made the Reds. Crosley Field, the home of the Reds for many years was named after Lewis & Powell Crosley who made radio the household staple that it became and Crosley built WLW and produced the shows that it ran on the station specifically to help promote and sell the radios that Crosley made.

Unfortunately baseball's importance and relevance is waning because baseball is a sport that is too slow for TV- it has and always will be a sport that was made for the radio broadcast platform and for Strat-O-Matic baseball cards!
