Buzzer Beaters :: Other High/Lowlights
Gm. 67: yankeebb :: After a total of 62 seven-game series and 340-ish games were played in the tournament, yankeebb reached the apex, defeating revejb in 4 games to win the championship, the trophy, the cash, and everlasting glory.
Gm. 66: yankeebb :: Losing 6-4 into top of 9, yankee got a Love walk and a pinch-hit 2-run HR from Osborne to tie the game. In the top of 10, rev's pitching staff also had a love walk, as they went walk, walk, bloop single to score a run, pop out, walk, walk for run, WP for run, ground out for run, WP for run, walk, ground out. 1 hit, 5 walks, 3 WP, 5 runs for yankee. Series now at 3-0 for ybb.
Gm. 65: yankeebb :: In a game that ended up being decided by one run, ybb's early defensive replacement McCullar saved two hits on deep flies in the top of 7. Zero runs scored in the inning.
Gm. 60: revejb :: With a third game in four of 11 or more runs, rev's offense was flambe-ing; that is cooking via dousing with liquor and igniting. The series win by rev brings us back to yankee vs. rev for the championship.
Pinetti's incredible run of 6 series wins in a row has come to a halt. Six series wins is more than any other GM in the tourney, including yankee or rev.
Gm. 55: yankeebb :: yankee has a Boo! Despite getting outhit 9-5, yankee defeats revejb 6-3 in Game Six as yankee's Boo homers for the 3rd time in the series. yankee wins the winner's bracket, and will now await the winner of the Bounce Back bracket.
Gm. 54: atsanbpinetti :: After scoring a 2nd inning "Pinetti" in game 53 to coast to the win, atsanb needed 13 innings in this one. Leading 1-0 going into the bottom of 9, erwin rolled the dice with Shannon Jr. on the mound. Snake eyes. Shannon Jr. tossed back-to-back WPs to issue a 2-out game-tying BB to the light-hitting Knell (.113). After the teams trade 1-run in the 12th, atsanp got "McCain reaches on a two-base error by Buie," and "McCain scores on a two-out single by DeVries." 3-2 win when erwin's Buie makes a second costly final inning error in the series. pinetti with a 3-1 lead in series to put erwin on the brink.
Gm. 53: yankeebb :: yankee's refusal to have dramatic wins has mostly kept him out of the papers, but back-to-back Boo and JuJu HRs to open the game deserve a mention, as yankee evens the series at 2-2.
Gm. 51: revejb :: rev gets the glorious Newhouse and/or Manoa, with back-to-back 4 run innings. The 4-4 seals a 12-3 win to even the series.
Gm. 50: atsanbpinetti :: Tied 3-3 into top of 9, Smith reaches on a two-base error by Buie. Smith scores, along with one other run. The 5-3 lead holds up.
Gm. 46: derek :: Top of 8, losing 6-4, erwin racks up a pinetti (5-run inning) when pinch hitter Avila picked a swell time for his first HR of the tourney, a 3-run launch to cap the scoring and take a 9-6 lead, putting erwin six outs from a series win. In bottom of 8, derek got a pinch-hit single, single, BB, BB to force in run 1, Love single to knock in runs 2 & 3, and a pinch-hit grounder from Watkins for 10-speed Mitchell to beat the throw home for run 4. The 10-9 lead holds up and the series continues.
Gm. 43: atsanbpinetti :: Down 6-5 going into 9, five runs cross the plate in what has become known as a "pinetti". A pinetti = five run inning, as atsanb has repeatedly scored five runs in an inning for a win.
Gm. 41: revejb :: Down 6-5 going into top of 9, rev gets a BB, surprise bunt, fly out with a tag to 3rd, sac fly for a run to tie the score 6-6. In top of 10, Knell saved a hit in the field for brettp, then Knell, for rev, blooped a single at the plate to drive in the winning run and win Game 6 and the series.
Gm. 40: Close, No Cigar 2 :: Down 3-0 into bottom of 8, jimgriddy ties the game on Missi's 12th HR of the tourney (somehow only 18 total RBIs). But, derek gets a Boo Buie solo HR in top of 9, then two dWar saves in bottom of 9 from two defensive replacement fielders to win the game and series.
Gm. 40: Close, No Cigar :: joshuakit, down 6-3 going into bottom of 8, scores four runs on six singles (no bunts) and a walk to take the lead! All for naught. pinetti scores 5 in top of 9 and holds the lead to win, 11-7.
Gm. 39: erwin23 :: Down 3-0 in the series, and 4-1 in the game, going into the bottom of 9, erwin gets a lead-off Reeves HR, a 1-out single to score a run, and a two-out 2-run HR from Kolek to win the game 5-4. Kolek's first HR of the tournament, for erwin. In the past two PC days, Kolek's first HR for a team has been the necessary mash to get a win.
Gm. 38: atsanbpinetti :: Down 3-2 into bottom of 9, two quick Ks, with Kalkbrenner throwing heat. A negative dWar play by josh's 3B puts a runner on, and Kadary Richmond rockets a walk-off two-run HR for the pinetti win.
Gm. 37: 1-0 Part 2 :: derek creates an instant meme as he holds up an 8x10 sheet of white paper in the locker room with a 1 written on it. The one-hit 1-0 win is courtesy of a two-out, 8th inning HR from SS Kolek; Kolek's first HR of the tournament. jimgriddy's SP Clingan goes 7.2 one-hit innings, but takes the hard loss with class, only knocking over one small autograph-seeking child as he exits the stadium.
Gm. 37: 1-0 :: atsanbpinetti eeks out the win over joshuakit on a 4th inning Boo Buie HR.
Gm. 37: revejb :: The time-honored Shannon Jr. gamble goes awry. Losing 5-3 into bottom of 9, revejb faces Shannon Jr., and goes BB, surprise bunt for force out at 2nd, single, ground out, WP for run, WP for BB, BB for run. Tied 5-5. rev wins in bottom of 13 with a 2-out, 2-run Love walk-off HR.
Gm. 36: joshuakit & atsanbpinetti :: A 3-1 game going into 8 leads to fireworks. atsanp scores 4 in the top of the 8th on six singles and a BB to go up 5-3. But, a potpourri inning from josh, with a single, Knell (.102) double, WP, WP for BB, steal, surprise bunt, and a Sac Fly to score the 3rd run of the inning for a 6-5 lead that would hold up.
Gm. 33: sincitymarauder :: scm into bottom of 9, losing 4-3. After a ground out, and a single, a WP puts the runner at 2nd, which triggers an intentional BB to pinch-hitter Harmon. A surprise bunt with one-out and runners at 1st and 2nd backfires, as the runner is cut down at third. A two-out pinch hit Osborne double saves the day and series, scoring 2 for the 5-4 win, as scm staves off elimination.
Gm. 32: polski :: polski got one of the five CG in the whole tournament (2 for polski, 3 for joshuakit), a one-hit gem by SP Reese Waters. The only issue is that the one hit was Missi's 11th HR of the tourney, so the game goes into bottom of 9 tied 1-1. polski gets a 1-out walk-off HR from Reeves to win 2-1 and tie the series at 2-2.
Gm. 28: atsanbpinetti :: Game 7 win. Pinetti's team scored 5 or more total runs in only 6 of 22 games in the tournament, and never scored 5 runs in an inning... until this Game 7, where he gets three 5-run innings to score 18 and close out the series.
Gm. 27: brettphillips35 :: Going into bottom of 7 losing 9-4, brettp got a bloop single, BB, BB, and Mitchell grand slam to get to 9-8. In top of 8, derek scored 3 to extend the lead to 12-8. Bottom of 8, brettp got a 2-out single from Knell (.116 real stats, .116 in tourney, thus far) who then scored on a Paopao triple, which was the exact combo that won Game 24 for brettp. Top of 9, score is 12-9, Knell robs a hit on a deep fly from Smith. No runs score for derek. Bottom of 9, score is 12-9, Mitchell hits his 2nd HR in three innings, then RP Cody Williams (2.45 ERA) goes for the 16-pitch BB, BB, BB to load the bases. Light hitting 2B Smith (.159) hits a single to score a run, then Knell finishes a 4-4, 3 run, 3 RBI day with the game-winning double. brettp wins 13-12, wins the series 4-3, and Knell is now hitting .164 with a series winning RBI.
Gm. 24: paul21 :: After his BP coughed up a 3-run lead, paul got a 2-out double from Knell (.116 real stats avg, .241 avg. for paul in tourney) to plate the winning run. Knell goes 3-4 for paul in this game, for the offensive no-offense offense.
Gm. 24: polski :: Brooms have sold out around Polski Park, as, in Game 24, polski will try for his third sweep of the tournament.
Gm. 24: polski :: Mastering the late-game comebacks, polski got another late winner, this one a walk-off HR from J'Wan Roberts in the bottom of 9 for the 5-4 J'Win.
Gm. 24: erwin23 :: Wind blowing out in the erwindome, as erwin rode 6 HRs, including Reeves clocking the first 3-HR game of the tournament, to a 10-9 win. jsmathiot had the tying run on 3rd in top of 9, but a groundout ended the threat.
Gm. 24: brettphillips35 :: After derek tied the game at 3-3 in top of 9 with a 2-run Osborne HR, brettp got a lead-off single from Knell (.098 tourney avg.) and a walk-off triple from Paopao.
Gm. 23: joshuakit :: Tied 2-2 into 9, josh got a classic Paopao BB, BB, pinch hit Schieffelin single for a Paopao run, then, in bottom of 9, got a two-out Paopao dWar save to keep the tying run from scoring.
Gm. 22: jefffreyb :: Down 5-4 into bottom of 9, jefffreyb got a one-out tying HR from Lipsey (his 2nd of game), and a two-out walk-off Buie double.
Gm. 22: yankeebb :: Getting no-hit through 5 innings, and shutout through 7, losing 2-0, yankee got a pinch hit BB, pinch run steal of 2nd, BB, ground out, BB, K, Schieffelin bloop singe to tie the game at 2, then a Filipowski HR in bottom of 9 for the 3-2 win. 4 hits, 3 runs, 1 win.
Gm. 19: todorojo :: Using 20 position players, todorojo broke a tie in bottom of 9 with a Mitchell triple and walk-off single from Roberts.
Gm. 18: jefffreyb :: Going 7 for 8 on SBs, and surviving a wild bottom of 9th by sleazye that tied the game, jefffreyb wins it in 10 with a steal of 3rd preceding a two-run, two-out single.
Gm. 18: joshuakit :: After BP gave up the potential winning run in the bottom of 8, josh scored 4 in top of 9, including two HRs, to win and even the series with bragan.
Gm. 17: joshuakit :: With his pitchers giving up 3 runs in a 1-hitter, josh scored 8-runs during an in-inning team cycle, with 2 singles, a double, a triple, and a Grand Slam (with 5 BBs sprinkled in).
Gm. 17: polski :: For his second victory in the series pulled from the jaws of defeat, polski, down 7-5 into bottom of 9, got BB, BB, then back-to-back doubles for the 8-7 win to put laser on the brink.
Gm. 16: sincitymarauder :: scm's bullpen and defense has mastered the 7-run inning: pop out, single, BB, single on bad dWar play, BB, BB, BB, pop out, single, triple, K. 4 BBs, 7 runs.
Gm. 15: mcvn4 :: SP Pelle Larson, he of 82 stamina, tosses a 112 pitch no-no, rendering atsanbpinetti's combined 2-hitter (with 3 of 4 pitchers on fire) a footnote.
Gm. 15: polski :: Down 3-0 going into 8th, polski gets back-to-back singles on bad dWar plays, then a Paopao single for the first run, then the second run on a double play. In the 9th, a tying run on a WP. Then, in the 10th, 4 runs on an HR and a two-base error by McCullar to seal the win.
Gm. 13: paul21 :: Down 3-2 in games, losing 7-4 into top of 9th, paul gets a gift from metsrock's bullpen: BB, WP, BB, WP for BB (run scores), ground out (run scores), grounder but runner beats throw home (run scores), Sac Fly (run scores). 4 runs, 0 hits. Paul wins game 6, goes on to win game 7.
Gm. 13: jimgriddy :: Losing 3-2, despite outhitting bragan 9-5, jim got a triple, double, single to score 2 runs and go ahead for the winning 4-3 margin.
Gm. 13: mjgiii :: Like a Texas two-step, mjgii and todorojo mirrored the last two innings. mjgiii winning by 1, they both scored 2 in the eighth, then todorojo scored 1 in top of 9 to tie the game. Bottom of 9: mjgiii hit into two quick outs, then got a single, WP, then bloop single from Jones on a bad dWar play to score the winning run.
Gm. 12: defending champ jim2miller :: Down 6-2 going into bottom of 9, jim2miller scores 4 on singles, BBs, a WP, and speed. Bottom of 10, a Love lead-off triple scores the winner on a McCain hard single.
Gm. 11: sincitymarauder & yankeebb :: "I'll see your WPs and raise you." In bottom of 2, ybb's pitchers give up HBP, BB, single, WP for BB, WP for BB, WP, single, ground out, WP, pop out, pop out. 5 runs score on 2 hits. In top of 4, scm's pitchers give up BB, WP, WP, WP for BB, BB, K, WP, WP, BB, ground out, K. 3 runs scored on 0 hits.
Gm. 11: brettphillips35 :: Bottom of 10, light hitting defensive specialist OF Knell draws a lead-off walk, Sheldon single, then an Avila bloop single that falls due to a negative dWar play. Walk-off bad dWar.
Gm. 11: jefffreyb :: Bottom of 10, bloop single by Pullin (3-28 in the tourney), then Sheldon enters as PR, steals second, steals third, scores on Mast single. jefffreyb knocks the Kingpin out of the tournament.
Gm. 10: bhgray :: Tied 3-3 after 8, bhgray gets a HR in top of 9, then sleazye's 3rd base Coach plays for the tie. sleazye's hitters went walk, single, pop out, single to only load the bases. Next, the third single in the inning scores only one, but a strike out and line out leaves the bases loaded and the game tied. bhgray scores three in the 10th to win.
Gm. 10: eriko711 :: Breaking through the 4 hits lost to dWar courtesy of revejb's defense, eriko gets a Paopao walk-off HR in bottom of 11.
Gm. 10: derek :: In a third thriller in three games, mcvn, down 7-2 going into the 8th, gets two walks and a negative dWar hit to load the bases for Hall to unload them with a grand slam before a Watkins HR ties the game at 7-7. In bottom of 10, a Mitchell triple and Shannon Jr. WP gives derek the win.
Gm. 10: jaykuntz18 :: Wins by surviving his team hitting into 5 double plays in 8 innings (didn't bat in bottom of 9), and jay sets a modern day record for cursing slow-footed batters.
Gm. 9: fantasytease :: Hitting coach fired, as 4 simultaneous worst-slumps-of-career submarine the team's chances. Boo Buie, .306 RS [real stats] is 1-30 (.033); Kadary Richmond, .315 RS is 2-28 (.071); Ian Schieffelin, .324 RS is 2-24 (.083); Caleb Love, .304 RS is 2-26 (.077).
Gm. 9: sincitymarauder :: This team maybe takes on fire too literally. Leading 3-1 going into bottom of 4, SCM pitching went: ground out, HBP, HR, 2-base error by Paopao, 1-base error by Mast, Shannon Jr. (on fire) to the mound: WP, WP for walk, WP, WP for walk, 2-base error by Paopao, ground out, WP, walk, WP, fly out. 7 WPs, 3 errors, 7 runs cross the plate.
Gm. 8: metsrock2011 :: Down 6-1 into top of 8, get a pinch hit 3-run HR from Buie, and a 2-run HR from Reeves to tie the score. BP gives up a run in bottom of 8. Top of 9, the tying run scores on a 2-out, 2-base error by Pullin, then Buie hits his 2nd HR in two innings, a 2-run shot to build 9-7 lead that was needed as paul21 got a run in bottom of 9.
Gm. 8: jaykuntz18 :: Not the highlight wanted, but an amazing pitching feat. Down 3-2 in bottom of 8, DaSilva gives up a lead-off HR to Mitchell, gets a ground out, then goes walk on WP, walk, pitching change to Kalkbrenner, WP, ground out, single, pitching change to Shannon Jr., walk on WP, bloop single, WP to score final run. Five runs scored, 4 WPs, with 3 RP throwing at least 1 WP.
Gm. 8: chickenheads :: Bottom of 9, down 3-1, DeVries scores on Paopao single. Down 3-2, Clayton Jr. with a walk-off double to score the all-name crew of Paopao and Boo Buie.
Gm. 8: todorojo :: Bottom of 9, ties game with a 2-out bloop single from Paopao to score McCain, who was on by an HBP. Win in bottom of 10 with a walk-off single from Clayton Jr.
Gm. 8: derek :: Down 1-0 going into 9, scores three runs on 1 hit. HBP, walk, fielders choice, grounder but runner beats throw home, Harmon single on a negative dWar play scores 2nd run, Sac Fly scores 3rd run. Score is 3-1 going into bottom of 9. mcvn4 loads the bases with 2-outs, but a positive dWar play from defensive replacement 3B Sheldon ends the game.
Gm. 8: jsmathiot :: A 2-run pinch hit HR from Reeves to tie the score in bottom of 8 sets up a two-out walk-off DeVries single in bottom of 9.
Gm. 8: joshuakit :: After BP coughed up a 3-run lead in bottom of 9, back-to-back HRs by McCain and Jones to grab an 8-6 lead. josh then, in bottom of 10, gets a dWar defensive save that allows a run to score on a Sac Fly, but keeps the tying run off base.
Gm. 8: eriko711 :: Scoring 8 runs on 5 total hits, with revejb's team making 4 dWar plays, eriko breaks a 6-6 tie in top of 9 by scoring 2 runs without a hit. BB, BB, ground out, grounder but safe at home, Sac Fly for 2nd run.
Gm. 7: brettphillips35 :: Same day Edey from Purdue went for 30 pts, 21 RBs, Edey in PCMM tossed a no-hitter to clinch the series.

Gm. 4: derek :: A third win by the same 5-3 score finishes the sweep.
Gm. 3: metsrock2011 :: Lipsey with a 2-run dinger with 2 outs in bottom of 10.
Gm. 2: eriko711 :: Down 5-4 in bottom of 12, DeVries triples, McCain HR to win, using 10 pitchers to get there.
Gm. 2: bush484 :: Watkins walks, pinch runner Nembhard, Reeves K's, walk to Knecht, Roberts hard single doesn't score Nembhard, but Kolek fly does.

6/15/20244 Openings in Gus's AYLGusPC13
4 openings in the very unique "All Yankees League". You don't have to like the Yankees to join. I don't like them at all and I'm the Commish!! League is made up of players who played for the Yanks from 1961 to the present, divided up into teams based on who else they played for during their career, plus some of the all-time greats from the past. There are also 2 Yankee teams with players who played exclusively for the Yanks. The Astros, Mets, Angels and Jays are available. No contracts/progressions. New players join the league every time the Yanks make a deal or sign a Free Agent, which happens a lot! A few twists to keep things interesting. Come check it out. Preparing for Season 23 so a great time to join.
