Test Drive question

Test Drive question

Thinking of creating a custom league and playing around in the test drive section.
I'm sure I'm just missing it but where do you set type of draft (Daily or Quick) and the range of years for available players to draft?

Re: Test Drive question

Commish Tools --
Set Auto or Supplemental Draft --
Auto Draft is Currently:

Re: Test Drive question

The range of players available depends on what players you import into your player pool.

Under Player Management in the commish tools you can import everything from individual players to full historical teams.

Re: Re: Test Drive question

Thank you, I didn't realize that. Can you simply pick a season range like 1990-2019?

Re: Test Drive question

Hmmm, not that I can see. I've only set up one custom league and I brought in the top 100 players at each position from 1950 - 1953.

You'll likely have to import each team and the years you want, but this question is probably best answered by someone who has run a custom league copying MLB and using a huge range of years. Seems like there should be a faster way to do what you want as I believe that to be a popular league set-up.

Re: Re: Test Drive question

You can import each team indivually from the season you want. Go to player management and then import historical team and set min AB and IP as you wish. Check box do not import if already in league to avoid dupes. Here's a link to my sandbox 10 team league to get idea. https://www.pennantchase.com/lgHome..

Re: Test Drive question

But he would have to add each season 1999-2019 separately and for each team, correct?

Re: Re: Test Drive question

Yes that's correct?

Re: Test Drive question

When you import players it does not seem to assign them a "Ranking" like you see in the auto leagues(?).
Also, if I created a league and I did not have enough owners can I use "bot" teams for those that don't have one?

Re: Re: Test Drive question

Rank (Rk) can't really be decided until your player pool is set because it's a percentile of where a players talent ranks relative to the rest of the players in a league.

If you are running a custom league, not every team needs a human manager. I ran a short test season for my recently started season before all my friends had joined and the computer did an okay job of setting lineups on its own.

Re: Test Drive question

So, bot teams would just take over any teams without a manager once you start the draft/season then?

Re: Re: Test Drive question

Yes, you must give the team a competent roster but don't have to set lineups or do much else.

Re: Test Drive question

If I set it to a daily draft would the computer rank and draft the bot teams?

Re: Test Drive question

So if I sign up to be commissioner for a custom league it says for 1 year. Is that calendar year or 1 year from signup? What if you start a season in year 1 that doesn't end until year 2?

Re: Re: Test Drive question

Yes, the CPU will draft for any teams without players ranked in the Daily Draft.

It's one year from donation date... once it expires, the commish tools get turned off. The League does not get deleted or anything.

Re: Test Drive question

Question related to this. Can I import rosters myself for all 12 teams and let bots run the teams after import?

Re: Test Drive question

So if you know you're gonna keep the league running just re-up. Thanks for all the replies!

Re: Test Drive question

@JM you can basically have teams be unmanaged and they’ll be okay but there is not a CPU bot that will intelligently manage the team.

Re: Re: Test Drive question

@GBACCI. Thanks. As commissioner do I have the power to change all 12 rosters throughout the season? So if I see the CPU doing something that doesn’t make sense, intervene.

Re: Test Drive question

Yes, you have a great deal of power even if it's a little tricky to get where you want to sometimes.
