Calculating contract costs

Calculating contract costs

How are the contract costs calculated? I.E. How does PC determine that a certain player is worth $11 instead of $4? I always figured it was tied to overall rank.

However, in a league I commish, the contracts are much lower than expected. People ranked in the 90s are being signed for $2. (This makes the salary cap pretty meaningless.) Did I screw up a setting somewhere? The stat levels are set at 92 for "star" for both hitters and pitchers, as suggested. I'm using only 2018 stats and have 12 teams.

The league just started, so I'm hoping to catch the problem right away. Thanks for any guidance.

Re: Calculating contract costs

It’s based on rank AND progression type. Still, I can’t imagine a 90 rank Flat progression player being just $2.

I see Justin Turner 99 rank in your league, Flat progression, $2. Trout, same rank, Unpredictable progression, $7.

Re: Re: Calculating contract costs

Thanks. Rank and progression makes sense. Still, any idea why the costs are so cheap?

Re: Calculating contract costs

I think there's a League Setting that's specifically there to rectify this where you can increase salaries by a fixed amount if you think they are too low.

Re: Re: Calculating contract costs

I think I figured it out. Under League Settings, there is a toggle for Raises, which would increase salaries annually for multiple-year contracts. But beneath that, there's a toggle for "Contract Demand Based on Rank". I had it set to "No." (I don't know why.) Changing it to "Yes" fixed the problem.

Re: Calculating contract costs

Well, isn't there also still the toggle between "old" stat-based system and "new" rank-based system also? Stat-based are MUCH, MUCH lower than Rank based. Especially SP's....

Re: Re: Calculating contract costs

Jay, that's correct. Switching between Yes/No switches between Rank and Stats.

Re: Calculating contract costs

And players with less counting stats from low AB and IP cost less. By rank I assume eliminates that. So I think Turner having low AB and F progression made him cheap.
