Re: Who is everone?

Re: Who is everone?

Jason Slater, live 30 min from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA (The Office 'location'), or 1.5 hrs from Philadelphia. Been on PC for 2 years now, diehard Phils fan, Fave Teamsaholic, deep love for sabremetrics...I can be abrasive if you haven't dealt with me, but if you compete against me you see that I love this site/game and want to see all facets at their best.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

I am an alien from the planet Lovetron, where I spend the off-season practicing "interplanetary funkmanship" and where my girlfriend Juicy Lucy lives. Oh wait that was Darrell Dawkins my bad.

Re: Who is everyone?

My name is Jason and I am in my mid 40s. I live near Hershey, PA, but was born and raised near Cleveland, OH. I am an Indians fan and are raising my boys to be Indians fans. I have been using PC since 2014.

Re: Who is everone?

I’m Noah, I live near Charleston, West Virginia and, I just turned 15 last Friday

I’m also a freshman in high school

Re: Who is everone?

I’m a 37 year old steel worker and live near Huntington WV. I have 3 boys and 1 girl who keep me busy with sports year round. They are 20,17, 15 & 14. I was once Huntington’s Hotdog Eating Champion at their yearly festival. :) I like the Reds and the Kentucky Wildcats.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

wow! a Reds fan. who knew they existed?

Re: Re: Who is everone?

Wait, Huntington, West Virginia?

I live about 45-50 minutes away from there in Charleston

Re: Who is everone?

Michael is my name at work...Mike is my "normal world name" . I work in a credit union in Maine and have been on here for less than a year. Big Red Sox fan, but sadly am tired of hearing about the Excellence of Boston Sports. Boston fans are incredibly annoying.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

When you live in the state I do, it gets tiring to know that the only “important” sports teams you have are a D-1 college that’s over 2 hours away and a Class-A minor league team that isn’t doing too good at the moment

Re: Who is everone?

21 year old college student, majoring in sports journalism. Fightin Phils fan and this is my third league.

Re: Who is everone?

I'm Michael-but old friends call me Mikey. 49 yr old I'm from Santee, CA it's about 15 miles east of San Diego, same county. born and raised, Padres fan and a half ass dodger fan. Sign on PC, maybe a yr ago, then left after a couple season, then came back and been on for last 6 months or so.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

We almost went extinct in 08. I was laid off for 14 months. Trump has gave us life again with the tariffs he’s placed on steel and we’ve been booming since he took over.
Yep. I’m close to Huntington but on the other side. I’m 1 1/2 hours from Charleston. That’s why I gave you a hard time about being a hill billy WV Kid. I’m right there with you. I always hear it. Haha.

Re: Who is everone?

It’s all good

Re: Who is everone?

@The Sheik ya, petco-park is great, I was surprised how well it turned out, there really isn't a bad seat to watch the game in.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

Prediction The Cleveland Indians will win the 2020 WS and Cleveland Browns will win super bowl 54.

Re: Who is everone?

I'm Grant, 24 years, love in Hudsonville, MI. It's by Grand Rapids. I'm a Janitorial Supervisor, and Michigan, all terrible sports teams Detroit, and a Pats fan. Jose Iglesias is my favorite player. EVER! I also think Miggy sucks.

Most everyone here i dealt with is stand up people.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

Jason Rose, I live in Conneaut Ohio right on the shore of Lake Erie right next to the P.A. Line. I'm not really sure how long I've been on pc lol. But I enjoy doing this, love running leagues and getting to know people even if I do get cranky from time to time(that happens when your 45). I have a 23yr old daughter and 17yr old son(who just took first in the state of P.A. In a bowling tournament). I have an 8mo old granddaughter, am I really old enough?

Re: Who is everone?

Yeah, you're old enough Jason. Enjoy that grandchild. They're so much fun!! So, I'm Cole (aka Gus, aka Captain Lol). I'm 52, married, two children (step) and two grandchildren, ages 14 and 11, so I'm guessing I hold the record for being the youngest age to become a grandfather, at least among you PCers (I was 38). I live in Manitoba, right in the center of Canada, the center of North America, the center of the universe (that's actually more likely Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota where my beloved Twins play). HUGE Twins fan. Just to show you how much, some of my favorite Twins of all time are Mark Funderburk, Bernardo Brito, Tack Wilson, Tom Johnson, Mac Scarce, and of course some guys you've heard of like Carew (my all-time favorite), Puckett, Mauer, Bostock, Mudcat Grant, Liriano, etc. etc. I could go on. I've been on PC for 2 years now. Love the site. Love the banter. Love building up teams and competing against some great owners on here. Love running my two leagues (BNBL and AYL) and my ALL-TWINS sandbox league. Thanks Guy. And thanks to the Sheik for starting this very interesting and community-building thread. Great idea!

Re: Who is everone?

I guess even Avila can even be right once!

Re: Who is everone?

My name is Joe. I was born, raised, and currently reside about 50 miles Northeast of Atlanta, Georgia. Contrary to what it might seem from my user name, I am not a maistro, or a fan of the opera, etc... The bravo03 comes from the fact that a lot of people in this area call the Braves the Bravos, and the 3 for Dale Murphy one of my favorite players. I am 48 years old, a Design Engineer for a manufacturing company in the area. I am a looooooonnnnnngggg suffering Braves, and Falcons fan.

By the way gus, you became a grandfather at 38, I became a father for the first (and only) time at 37. Then again, I've always been kind of slow...

Re: Who is everone?

My Name is Doug...55 yrs old....born in France (only lived there 2 yrs) and grew up mostly in Canton, OH. I am a computer programmer and currently live in Charlotte, NC. I have 8 kids ranging from 22 to 3.

Huge Steelers/Pirate/Penguins fan and love this site! My wife tells me I spend too much time on it tho. :)

Re: Who is everone?

Guess I should get in on this. My name is Dale and i am just shy of 45 (July). I am from Warrenton, Missouri which is about 50 miles west of St. Louis. Die hard Cardinals fan and Blues fan. Lets Go Blues. I am a veteran of the US Navy and Missouri Army National Guard and am have been in sales for the past 20 years. Oh and I hate the Chicago Cubs and New England Patriots

Re: Who is everone?

Thank you for your service!

Re: Who is everone?

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Thank you for your service Waller

Re: Who is everone?

guy I didn't know you lived in Seattle - so do I (Phinney Ridge). I'm also a software engineer (integrations, apis, java/python, aws, blah blah blah).

Re: Who is everone?

My name is Jason. I too live in Huntington, WV. Obviously a huge Reds fan, we do still exist. Car Salesman by trade. Two of my coworkers are highly addicted to PC also (Mranastasia and Hamburglar). Have only been on PC for little over a year, but feel like I know most of you already from competing with you guys. Learned a lot from a bunch of you. Also find it a major accomplishment when I beat a few of you. Love to tinker with all kinds of builds and lineup configurations. And my wife also thinks I spend too much time on PC.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

You go to Huntington High or Huntington East?

Re: Who is everone?

Question - if MrAnastasia is a car salesman, why can’t I make any deals with him? Lol

Re: Who is everone?

My name is Rob. I've been on PC since 2011. I'm 48 YO and will become a gramps this October (I said the same thing @Jason when I found out..) I live in central Illinois....I'm an analyst by trade....but a Dino (COBOL/DB2/JCL background)....long live the Mainframe!

I'm a Reds fan (who wouldn't be growing up in the 70s/80s :))....although I grew up on the Cubs and WGN....back when Superstations were the only way to see MLB on TV if you weren't from a big city! I can remember other than the game of the week (and TWIB)....you could catch the Braves on TBS, Cubs on WGN, Mets on WWOR and Dodgers on KTLA.....back when Cable TV was an infant!

Re: Who is everone?

Congratulations, Rob! Do you know if it's gonna be a boy or a girl?

Re: Who is everone?

I’m betting it is.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

lol

Re: Re: Who is everone?

Thanks.

Yes. It is a girl. After 3 sons....we’re shifting gears for the grandkids!

Re: Re: Who is everone?

Where in central Illinois ?

Re: Who is everone?

I think this has to be one of the most posted on threads ever on PC. I also joined PC at the end of March this year. I'm a newbie compared to most of you.

Re: Who is everone?

A MET'S FAN!!! They are as rare as Cinci fans!

Re: Who is everone?

@tyk

Bloomington

Re: Who is everone?

Hello from Dan in erie,pa. I'm 53 and a letter carrier. Just joined PC and have played other sim baseball sites. Looking to see how well this fares. I'm a follower of the Nationals but especially miss the Expos of the late 70s, early 80s.

Re: Who is everone?

Well......ummm....my name is Joey. 49 years old. Born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts. Currently residing in.....well.....I wouldn't call it "residing" as much as it is spending time in Brooks, Alberta, Canada. Working right now as a carnival games worker, which I have done off and on for 19 years.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

Do you guys really dip those dogs in water to make them go down easier ?!!!!

Re: Who is everone?

Absolutely. Dip them and you don’t have to chew the bun. Lol. I won with 16 in 10 minutes. I got second the next year with 17 and retired from competitive eating. I also ate the 5lb single wide burger from our local Hillbilly Hotdogs during my stretch. Broke the record at the time and ate it in just under 28 min. That was way worse than the hotdogs. Not even close.

Re: Who is everone?

I personally would have gone with " Competitive Eater" Sheik, but Carny is up there, all sorts of nasty, sleazy connotations with being a carny.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

Chickenheads, I live outside of Morton, worked in Bloomington for years

Re: Who is everyone?

am i the only one who was bothered by the title of this thread being "Who is everone?" as opposed to "Who is everyone?" this has been driving me nuts and no one has even said anything or tried to correct it by changing the header when reposting

Re: Who is everon?

Haha. Yes I’ve noticed it every time!! Or should I say evertime. But it kind of grew on me and I decided to let it be a reminder to us all that nobody’s perfect - not even the Sheik! I also decided to take yet another letter out of the title for this post. Hay nobod’s prefect!! 🙃

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

That's it, im declaring war on canada for this, south park style

Re: Why is everyone?

I’ll do you one better.

Re: Who is everone?

Ok mcvn. Declaration of war accepted. First battle we’ll call “the battle of the NBA Finals”. Canada 1 USA 0. I’m hoping you’ll surrender now, since that’s about all I’ve got. 😂😂😂

Re: Who is everyone?

The Sheik not perfect!!! Are y'all crazy!?

Re: Who is everone?

@tyk. Small world!

Re: Re: Who is everone?

I believe the NBA finals record is USA 68-Canada-1
Canada would be 1-0 this year I guess. Lol

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

The "A" in "am" should have been capitalized mcvn. Just sayin...

Re: Who is everyone?

Alyssa, or Lyssa, but online everyone shortens my name to Aly lol. Austin, TX, over on the East side. Soccer, softball and baseball were always my favorites growing up. watching the Women's World Cup now, its my favorite sporting event.

graduate student to get my masters in clinical mental health counseling, but also spend a lot of time with friends and my roommates. not working currently, trying to find a good job, but i was a barista for three years.

oh and i finally won a championship in this game! lol, that only took like 6 months i think xp

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

My name is Tim. I go by nycubsfan. So you can probably figure I am from NY (Jackson Heights, Queens) & am a diehard Cubs fan. Only sport I root for a team not in NY. I have lived in Houston since 1991 when I came here with my job at British Airways. I love sports, history, politics & my family. I have 2 beautiful, amazing daughters from my 1st marriage. I am remarried & will be 12 years in October. I have been playing for over a year & have won 3 titles. Love the game & am the guy who always willing to make a trade :)

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

Barista = Waitress
Flight Attendant = Sky Waitress

Re: Re: Who is everone?

Hey Now !!!! We prefer the term "showmen" rather then carnie...LOL.

Re: Who is everone?

Mike, I like that Cardinal story !
I grew up and still live in central Illinois , right in the middle of Cub, Bear , Bulls, Blackhawks country . Of course I’m for the Cards , Packers, Celtics , and Stanley Cup winning Blues !
I have 5 kids and soon to be 4 grandkids and Im a young 57 .
Been on PC for awhile , a lot of fun and some great people here .

Re: Re: Who is everone?

Joey don't you have some dust to spread on the tilt a whirl? Or are you barking for the Yak Lady tonight?

Re: Who is everone?

OUCH !!!!!

I don't work rides, I work games. Rides aren't worth the headache lol

Re: Who is everyone?

Or the gag reflex at certain times...

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

Name is Joe, age 32, live about an hour east of Cleveland, been a Cleveland Indians fan my whole life. Just started here on PC and mobile app last month, June 2019

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

I am Randy, from Niagara Falls, Canada. Reds fan also. Name was misspelled supposed to be Shamskyfan, for my hero Art Shamsky.

Re: Who is everyone?

My name is Steve, I'm 59 and started following baseball when I was 9. Got ahold of a baseball encyclopedia and started creating all-time teams of players going back to the 1800's. Formed what was then called a Rotisserie League in 1986. Lost faith with the strike of '94 and boycotted all things MLB for a couple of decades. I have now forgiven them - except for a few irredeemables like Pujols and Harper - and am really enjoying this site. I really like that salaries are not an aspect of this game because I'm clearly disenchanted with the capitalism aspect of pro sports as a fan. I live in Orlando, Florida and my favorite team is the Orioles who, by the way, were pretty damned good in 1969. :)

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Austin, I'm 22 and live in Scranton, PA. Been on PC on and off since early teens, with my biggest hiatus being between early 2016 and mid 2018 with my only access in that span being to keep my account from being deleted, since I didn't think I would be back so soon (I thought it would be at least a few more years lol)

I grew up a die hard Yankees fan, started early WAY back in 2002 at the age of 5! And life for me is REALLY complicated, so many family issues going on, but nothing completely out of control... All in all, really liking where I'm at these days, though! 😁

Edit: also just recently bought hardcover copy of Total Baseball 2004 edition off Amazon! Really good for stats junky like me! 😂😂

Re: Who is everyone?

Kyle, 31, lived in Chicago the last 6 years by way of Colorado. I lead a sales team during the day, and read/write/pennant chase/hang with my wife at night. Love this site, first found it when I was wasting time as a night auditor for a hotel in my early 20's, can't for the life of me remember what my username was at the time but I'm glad I circled back around after a hiatus.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

Skooler, you're from Scranton ? I live outside of Wilkes-Barre. Grew up 40 minutes away from there, in Nanticoke... Now live in Mocanaqua...Small world.

Re: Who is everyone?

Jay my thoughts exactly! Read your post earlier and the first two words in my head: small world... Lol!

Funny part is I only have seen a select few railriders games over the years, despite living like a 1/2 hour drive away by car, if that! And they're the Yankees affiliate!! 🤣🤣🤣

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

My name is Nick but all of my friends call me Borg, short for my last name. I'm 31 and live about 30 minutes northwest of Chicago. I'm in restaurant management and I'm a DBacks fan. I started on PC in 2012 or 2013 and haven't looked back since.

Any of you every on your phones around your partners and they're like, "who are you texting" only for you to be on PC checking progressions or box scores? Always makes me laugh. Or they'll think you're checking out some other girl's instagram. "Nope, just want to see what FA bids I won" HAHA

Re: Who is everyone?

lol! Yeah, I get the "who are you texting" question all the time

Re: Who is everyone?

Hey Borg, I’m in Vernon Hills. What Suburb are you in. I use to be on PC years back. Just started back up.
My friends call me Fish

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

WHAT?! I work in Vernon Hills haha. I live near Gurnee. That's crazy!

Re: Who is everyone?

Marty, 47, from Baltimore/DC suburbs. Die hard Orioles/Ravens/Terps fan. High school administrator, youth baseball coach and rotisserie player. Been on PC about a year and learning a lot. Getting beat regularly in custom leagues by the likes of Mcvn, Jay, yankeebb and sheik, among many others, but enjoy the competition.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

to smithy35, just wanted you to know that you're not the only mail carrier out there. Live now in northern California but grew up about 30 miles west of St. Louis so I bleed Cardinal red. My handle is superdave (nickname from work) after Super Dave Osborn, a character from, I believe, an old HBO series.

Re: Who is everone?

Super Dave Osborn goes back to the late 1980's, which I think is before HBO. Sketch comedy show. In one episode, Super Dave is killed by a Dwight Gooden fastball if I remember correctly.

Anyway, my name is Nate, from Southern Ontario. I've been on PC for a couple of years now. I was recruited by a friend with whom I used to play APBA. Miss the old dice game, but this sure is a lot of fun.

Re: Re: Who is everone?

9/29 bip Random Chatter 2 0
A superdave classic that you can still find on youtube. It also featured some fine acting by Steve Garvey. The Canadian sketch show from the 80s superdave was on was called Bizarre. Great stuff. I used to watch it when not getting my butt kicked by ndekar in APBA.

Bip=john from ottawa, canada

I think i started on PC maybe 2-3 years ago. Time flies. Love the site. Huge, huge, huge kudos to gbacci for all he does. And appreciate the comraderie, strategy and friendly competition of PCers. Still dont like losing to ndekar :-)

Re: Who is everone?

This has the feels of a 12 step help program.

Hi, I'm Jim (hello Jim!). I've been on this site since 2012 (I think). I know that the league I run had a champion for 2012. My wife also asks me who I'm texting when I'm feverishly trying to run a free agency bid process on my phone in bed at 11pm.

I grew up in Northern Indiana but now Akron/Cleveland is my home. I am 46, and a Cubs fan who wasn't very popular in my area for the past few years in my 2016 world series hat! I was even on the news before game 1 of the '16 series getting grief from people before the game. I have been coaching my sons in baseball since 2004, though this is probably my last year doing that since my youngest is now in high school. All the more time to devote to PC!

Re: Re: Who is everone?

Super Dave Osbourne was actually a guy named Bob Einstein- he played Marty Funkhouser on " Curb your Enthusiasm" he recently passed away.

Re: Who is everyone?

nycubsfan....my name is Tim...live in Houston now but born & raised in NYC...baseball is only sport I root for non NY team....love the Cubs...I am 60 years old.....love all sports....oh, I love to make trade offers (lol)

Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Mark I'm 29 live in northeast PA just barely in the Pocono's. I played PC in 2009-2011 and recently just started back up. My favorite team in the Phillies. However I love all sports.

Re: Who is everyone?

Well this is a thread that I never thought I'd see pop up again lol

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

Nycubsfan, you know you already answered this thread back in June, right? 😉

Re: Who is everyone?

I am Pete, I am in my mid-50's and live in Niagara Falls Ontario. I liked the Red Sox when I was really young but have been a Blue Jays fan since they came into the league. My grandfather took me to my first Jays game in May of 1977. His grandfather had taken him to see the 27 Yankees so I guess I will have to wait a few years and carry on the tradition!

Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Jim, living in the Amish country, Lancaster County, PA. I am a senior scientist at a Pharmaceutical testing laboratory for 33 years now. Been on PC for at least 10 years I think.
Reds fan since the early 70s. Pittsburgh guy in everything else.

Re: Who is everyone?

I missed this thread originally. Very cool.

My name is Josh Murray (the Bonds in my user name is for my all time favorite player Barry Bonds, and is an inside joke). I’m 42 years old, and I grew up in the Bay Area and am a lifelong Giants fan, but I live in Nashville, TN.

I’m married and I have 2 kids(4 and 9), and I’m a professor at Vanderbilt University here, and I teach statistics at the graduate level, and my favorite undergraduate course is Sociology through Baseball!

Re: Who is everyone?

Steve here…. 54 years old and born and raised in NY. I’m a die hard Mets fan and have been since I went to my first game back in 1973. I watch all sports, but baseball will always be number one by far. Love the game and its history. My father was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan and you’ll notice that all of my teams here are named for Brooklyn and play in Ebbets Field. A little tribute to the man that gave me my passion for baseball.

Re: Who is everyone?

Cant believe I missed this first go around. Great idea!

I am Jim. 58 and married 34 years. Retired union carpenter from Connecticut. Live in Ellenton Fl. since October of 2018 Between St. Pete and Sarasota. 2016 retired and sold everything. We have one daughter. She is 30 lives just north of Boston. Travelled around the country for 2 1/2 yrs in RV before settling in Florida.
Been on PC about 30 months. Donor for 2 years.
K.C. Royals fan.

Re: Who is everyone?

I’m PJ (I got really creative with the name). I’m
43 years old, I was born and raised in New York
City but I’ve lived in Kentucky for most of the last 20 years. I’m a 4th generation Yankees fan - my great grandpa learned English by listening to Yankees games on the radio and when I was 4 months old I sat on my
Dad’s lap during the Bucky Dent game and when Bucky Dent hit the homer my dad got so excited that he either almost dropped me (his version of the story) or did drop me (my Mom’s version). I grew up with the absolutely awful late 80’s-early 90’s Yankees, and wrecked my swing in middle school trying to hit like Kevin Maas. In my real life I’ve got a 5 year old boy and two large and terribly behaved dogs, and I’m a Child Psychology professor.

Re: Who is everyone?

This seems fun-
My real name is Mike and as my username suggests I'm a huge Mets fan. I'm 19 now, I grew up in north Jersey and now I'm living in NYC for college. I got my love for baseball from my dad, when I was younger we'd play Strat-o-matic while watching Mets games using the cards my dad had from when he was a kid. I'm a big numbers guy which is why this site definitely appealed to me. I've been around about 2 years

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

My name is Stephan, aka Kingdude.

I'm 43, Born and raised in the SF Bay Area (some would say 'the land of fruits and nuts') but I love it here, and hope to remain here long term. I love the SF Giants, and NL baseball- RIP to pitchers batting.

Married 13 years, with a daughter who I hope will be bitten by the baseball bug soon! I have only been here a couple of years, but I'm a big fan of PC, and am enjoying the banter and conversation with so many of you in the leagues we do battle in.

Great idea for a thread, I enjoy being a small part of the PC community.

Re: Who is everyone?

My name's Brad, 37, currently living in North Canton, OH. Nice to see some other people on here from not far away :) I grew up in St. Marys, PA but also lived in Houston, TX and Pittsburgh, PA for a bit. I have an engineering background and work in the Oil & Gas industry. I've spent a lot of time overseas with work but now that I'm married and have a small daughter (22 months) I try to stay closer to home.

I'm a Pirates fan (it's been rough for most of my life lol) and also enjoy rooting for the Steelers, Penguins, and all things Penn State!

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

WOW! This is awesome that this thread is continuing on and on! My name's Steve, 48 years old, married 8 years and we have a handsome 6 year old boy. I am from Staten Island, NY but originally from Queens. This site first attracted me well over a year ago due to how similar it was been I used to Micro League Baseball back in late 80's/early 90's on the Commodore 64 (anyone remember that computer?...lol) I am a big time Mets fan as well as a Jets and Islanders fan too.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

PJ, consider yourself lucky you didn't see the Yankees of '65-'74.

Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Brandon, 39 years old, hailing from the smallest state in the union. PennantChase gives me a small outlet from my daily life of raising 4 kids. Not sure exactly when I joined, but guessing 2011. I enjoy all sports, but baseball captured me at a young age, I think due to the numbers. I remember grocery shopping with my mom as a child and always begging her to buy me the latest 'Baseball Weekly' or 'Sporting News' papers so I could get lost in the leaderboards.

Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Mike, Just turned 43 years old. Originally from North Carolina where I JUST missed out on my MLB dream flaming out as a slick fielding/gap power D-III Infielder (sarcasm).

Been a Braves fan back since the mid 80's when trying not to lose 100 games seemed to be the goal. Definitely a product of TBS airing the Braves games nightly. About 7 years ago my career landed me down in Mobile, AL where I met the love of my life and have been living happily ever since.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Drew. I'm a Royals fan from Maine. Relocated to VA, so I root for the Nats also.
I played baseball until I was 14. Turns out I was a better scorekeeper than player. All the Wiffleball practice (mimicking players' stances) didn't translate to the baseball field.
I play PC with a coworker. (He's up 3-0 in a playoff series right now.) It is fun to talk about our teams at the beginning of the day. Nobody else cares when I have an outfield of Bonds, Ruth, and Teddy Ballgame.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

Dan Chamberlain, from a small town in Champaign County, Ohio, NW of Columbus. I live in England now (near Manchester). I'm 64. ex-USMC. I usually play Favorite Teams leagues. I back the Reds, but I used to listen to a lot of Tigers games when Ernie Harwell was there.
I've also lived in NC, TX, TN, and AZ.

Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Erwin,. I'm 22 y/o and from The Netherlands (Europe). So for everyone who is in a league with me, this may explain the long time between messages. I'm studing physiotherapy and almost done. I'm enjoying PC for a few years now. I have not found a better game/site that this one. Thank you Gbacci for creating it.

Re: Who is everyone?

I guess I should unmask myself now.

I'm Bragan, 23, from Kansas City. Diehard Royals fan, and have been playing PC for around 7 years now. What started as a small guilty pleasure has turned into a full blown obsession over the years, as I now run one league website (League of Controversy) and 2 different podcasts (LoC and SARMLB).

I've made many great friends over the years on PC, and look forward to meeting more!

Re: Who is everyone?

Seems like I answered this once, but I don't see a reply so here goes...

I'm Mike. Born and raised in the St. Louis area. Now in my 50's I live in southern Indiana.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

Mike, As a Mets fan, I hated those Cardinals teams! Lol
I did have the opportunity to meet Ozzie Smith a few years ago and talk to him about those years. He reminded me about how many times Terry Pendleton killed the Mets.

Ozzie was very gracious with his time. Great guy and great player!

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

Cool idea for a thread, I'll keep it going.

I'm Willy and I currently live in the Sacramento, California area. I am 54 and have been married 27 years and have three kids that are all grown and graduated from college (thank goodness)! I am a community college administrator and a die hard Dodger fan which is hard in Northern California. I joined PC during the March of 2020 when the pandemic delayed the start of the season and I was going through withdrawals for some baseball. Glad to be here with all of you.

Re: Who is everyone?

@stevenray - I've heard Ozzie is a class act. Back in the 80's the phrase among the diehard fans was, "The Mets are Pondscum!" I saw many posters/signs to that effect when the orange and blue came to town.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

It was a hell of a rivalry back then, for sure!

Re: Who is everyone?

Hi, I'm Jacob but you can call me Jake I'm 22 years old and I live in London, Ontario. I am a returning player after taking care of my newborn daughter last year. She is 7 months old and her name is Gabriella.

Re: Who is everyone?

I'll keep this thing going, it's neat and fun reading about other competitors.

As no surprise, my name is Matt. I am 32. Special education teacher and head high school football coach. I also run the speed and strength program for both male and female athletes. I'm from Wisconsin.

Outside of PC my life is consumed by football, my family , and lifting weights. Also enjoy cooking amd reading.

Been on PC since college days and took a haitius at one point.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

This seems fun.

Hey All. I'm Erik and I'm 18 years old. Currently majoring in CS and I'm from Chicago. Big Cubs fan as I started watching during the late Zambrano days and got really into it once the cubs started gaining traction in 2015 when Arrieta was a monster at the plate and the cubs finally built the team.
Jumped on PC during the start of the pandemic and have been on since.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

My name is Roger and I currently live in Grover Beach, California. I am 54 years old and work for the California Department of Transportation. The roads in Grover Beach are full of potholes, thus the name Potholes.

Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Josh and I live in the north Front Range of Colorado. I'm 46 and grew up in Minnesota which explains my handle. Joined PC last summer when I started working from home. I've been a baseball stats nerd ever since I laid eyes on '87 Topps cards at age 11.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Joe, big surprise. I am 55 and live in Tallahassee, FL. I graduated from the University of Alabama, hence the name Bamajoe66. I became a Cubs fan growing up watching the games on WGN with my Dad after school back when you only had about 13 cable channels and no remote to shift the little channel indicator on the top of the box.

Re: Who is everyone?

@stevenray: I still feel like the mid-80s rivalry between the Mets and Cards was one of the best there was. If you have not seen the ESPN documentary on the 1986 Mets - you have to check it out. As a diehard Mets fan in that era, it was fun re-living it through a new lens and watching it with my teen son -- who loved Lenny Dykstra in the documentary.

Re: Who is everyone?

My name is Josh. I am 51 years old and have loved baseball since I was probably 5, and got into fantasy baseball in the early days - around 1986 with my high school buddies. I discovered and joined PC leagues starting in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic and found that it was great to have daily box scores to look at - in the absence of actual sports.

I grew up at Mets and Red Sox fan - yes split allegiances in 1986 - but those rooting interests went back to the late 1970s growing up in the NY area and being a contrarian. Those were the two teams to root for if you hated the Yankees and George Steinbrenner as I did. I have been a Twins fan since moving to Minnesota for college in 1988, and they've become my favorite team over time. I introduced PC to both my sons as well (14 and 16 years old) and the younger one plays in a bunch of leagues and is in one with me now.

I live in Minneapolis and run a food business with a couple of grocery stores and a distribution business. Food is my other passion. Also, I have coached my kids in baseball, soccer, and hockey in Minneapolis park and rec leagues.

Re: Who is everyone?

When was this post originally posted ??? Has the year ever been said ?? Awesome it still gets hits though :-)

Re: Who is everyone?

Hmm... Now that I think about it, I don't actually remember if it was 2020 or 2021, but it was definitely in May of one of those
two years...

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Andy, 45 years old and I live in Aurora, Colorado. Originally from Cleveland, so I grew up a huge Indians (now Guardians) fan. Technically not married, but basically married, no kids, just our two dogs. I spent the last 19 years as a retail manager, but changed careers in November; now I work in a logistics position for a construction company.

Like a lot of you, I jumped into PC at the beginning of the pandemic and was hooked immediately. I love the variety of different custom leagues across the site. Big thanks to Guy for creating this world and to all of the commissioners out there that put in the work to keep it fun.

Re: Who is everyone?

We should have a convention once COVID is resolved.

Re: Who is everyone?

I was going to say 2019...sweet.

Re: Who is everyone?

Damn, it was 2019 after all? I had no idea this thread was actually that old lol

Re: Who is everyone?

Im perry from lynbrook NY, i played micro league baseball years ago started my own league, also played strat o matic. And im so loving this pennantchase!!
Im 57

Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Jim, a 32 years old high school math teacher and volleyball/bowling/softball coach in upstate NY.

Discovered pc last February when frustrated by pitchers and catchers not reporting because of the baseball lock-out. Sports data analytics has been a hobby of mine since playing APBA Pro-Baseball as a young kid, so this was a natural fit and I've loving the site!

Re: Who is everone?

Agree with you there , i went to a game when Hoffman was still active, the noise that was made when he came in with hells bells playing was d eafening.Had seat in the first row of center field but spent most of the game walking around enjoying the diff views. As a Mariner fan I have to admit that petco is just a step above from T mobile.

Re: Who is everyone?

Mine started with Strat-o-Matic too, but in 1993 rather than 1966.

I also still play- current project is a tournament with 2010 AL teams, but with franchise HOFers added to each team.

Re: Who is everyone?

I started out with Stratomatic as well...1969, the year of the HR race between Howard, Jackson and Killebrew. I didn't start playing APBA until a few years later, even though I grew up a few miles from the APBA business location.
Reading back through this thread, I was amused to see the Flo and Eddie reference...saw them open for Alice Cooper in 1973.

Re: Who is everyone?

Steve from Brooklyn, NY. 55 year old diehard Mets fan. My father was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan. You’ll see that my team location is always Brooklyn and the stadium is always Ebbets Field. A tribute to my father…

Re: Who is everyone?

Born in Connecticut been in Arizona since 1984 minus a few years wandering the globe.

52 year old disabled Marine working part time for a recycling/electronics scrap company

I was on PC in 2016-2017 but then left due to some disagreements came back a couple months ago but probably going to have to take a hiatus again due to health issues

Spent the late 70's going to Yankees games and West Haven Yankees games. Moving to AZ in the 80's all we had were the Suns I don't like BBall still don't like BBall but going to "The Madhouse on McDowell" was fun even though the Suns sucked We got Baseball in 98 even won a fluke championship in 01 (bet you that was the last time ever a dude with 57 home runs chocked up on the bat to slap a blooper to win in todays day and age they would be swinging for home runs and Rivera would strike them all out)
Still waiting for Professional Football to come to Arizona but at least the Rattlers have been good most years in the Arena Leagues even when the league folds and they had to find a new league.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Tyler from Cincinnati, I also started my journey with stratomatic, in 2015

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

I Must be on PC for more than 10 years now...

Started to play Strat- o Matic board game in the late 80's . I was approx 10 yo back then...

This game was pretty difficult to find here in Montreal...

Spent hours and hours of playing that game... and now spending hours and hours on PC....

First Strat o matic season played was 1988 (year of Canseco 40-40). But the real beast in that game was Ken Phelps. Back then stats had personality...nowaday,meh!!!!

So, since then my all time favorite player is Ken Phelps...

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

love this thread. I'm Kelly - from Seattle and a software engineer. My first computer was a commodore 64 and my two favorite games were Ultima IV and Micro League Baseball. I played baseball with some major leaguers (Brian Hunter (the fast one) and Stan Spencer) - and used to take middle school/high school stats and enter them into micro league baseball to see how we all matched up. I think my stats were purely fictional so that I could be starter :)

So this site was a natural fit and I've been having fun on here since 2011.

Re: Who is everyone?

I'm Nathan, 47 years old and a Medical Laboratory Technologist. Born and raised in West Tennessee, thus my Govols1975 screen name. Just found PC this year, but have always loved sports statistics.

Re: Who is everyone?

I did that too but my friend and I used some obscene names to see them come across the screen.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

Hello all!
My name is Steve and I love this site! I don't know how long I have been playing?? Couldn't find that info before this post.

I am 55 and work full time, live in Roseville Ca but always carve out some time each day for this site.

I am only in a few leagues but get real passionate with them. lol

If anyone is in the Sac area, let's have a beer!

Re: Who is everyone?

Howdy Gents,
My name is Stan "DukeBlues" on site. I am 74 years old and a retired general contractor from California, living in Southern Oregon now.
Did two tours in Vietnam and been on site here for I guess almost 6 or 7 years. Time flies when your having fun.
Like the Sheik, I am a diehard Dodgers, Ram and Laker Fan.
If your new here, there are some great people on this site, which includes our host Guy.

Re: Who is everyone?

His favorite place to be online one moron writes. Never underestimate the extremely low IQ's of the marks when you start an online scam I guess. His favorite place to be online is an assigns non-sensical, random numbers based on nothing, non-simulation where 100 rated players constantly suck, Your highest rated staring pitcher is constantly the worst starter, getting out-pitched by guys rated 20's and 30's, and where all kinds of other highly rated guys that have never had a bad season in their entire careers are suddenly batting .190. A non-simulation money-making scam where a team that's minus 24 can be tied with a team that's plus 56. Go fornicate yourself moron mark. Go fornicate yourselves all you moron marks who are responding as if what you do changes anything about what random, bulls^hi-t numbers get assigned to your players. You math failures and baseball know-nothing marks.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

Guys, please stop responding. Ignore the narcissist and they go away looking for another audience. it has been put out there already. So lets just give the silent treatment and we lose the site troll.

Re: Who is everyone?

Hi, I'm John, I'm from Massachusetts -I'm 61 and will be 62 in January, been on PC since 2017 or 2018 can't recall the exact year - I came up with the original Idea for the Bad News Bears League which GusPC graciously volunteered to be Commissioner of and it's currently heading to Season 20.

I enjoy the site as a pastime and value trying to outsmart some pretty savvy team builders and win Championships

Re: Who is everyone?

Both of those two towns are in the " Snow Belt" in North Central Mass and winters CAN be hard here, BUT we have no Tornado's, Earthquakes, Volcano's
Excessive Flooding or other weather related disasters.

Myself, I really hate when it's too hot to do anything because we get like 90+ Humidity - on the flip side, when it's cold, you layer Clothing , bundle up and go about your business, I find it a fair trade

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

"Both of those two towns are in the " Snow Belt" in North Central Mass and winters CAN be hard here, BUT we have no Tornado's, Earthquakes, Volcano's

There were multiple tornados that touched down in Connecticut in 2010 the damage was brutal I flew in to visit my relatives like 2 days after and they were still trying to clear all of the downed trees.

There is also a fault line that runs through the middle of CT up through MA all the way up into Canada and there was an earthquake in CT as recently as Jan 2022.

Since I lived in Bridgeport which is right on the coast we flooded all the time.

At least the volcanos in New Hampshire are completely extinct though

Re: Who is everyone?

Jim 59, from Ct originally. Until 2016. Traveled the U S in an RV for 2+ yrs then settled in SW Florida. (Ellenton)
Lived in North Haven Ct where 3 of those tornados touched down. We have had Hurricanes, (anyone hear of Gloria or Sandy ? ).
Had 48" of snow in 12 hours which broke the CT record for snowfall in a 24 hr period. So you know why I am in Florida now. Been spared damage by weather here so far personally.
Been on PC about 5 years I guess. Totally addicted. Worked a lot in Bridgeport and am familiar with Leominster. Would love to hear a non New Englander try and pronounce it.
Daughter 31, still lives in North Reading. Nice to meet y'all.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

How about somebody not from CT pronounce Derby

I was corrected once on the pronunciation of Worcester my reply was I know that is how it is pronounced but I was raised in Connecticut and we mispronounce it on purpose to piss off people from Massachusetts

For the record people from CT pronounce Derby as Darby and Worcester is pronounced Wooster

I live in Arizona now and have to listen to people who just moved here mange the various Indian names

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

From VA…….that would be LEMON-ster. My brother used to live there! Now in Ashby. I guess I cheated!

Re: Who is everyone?

I live in Puyallup Wa , its pronounced pew al up. I used to get a good laugh when brock huard played qb for the WA Huskies and they would just mangle the name . By the way , lots of Indian names here too but Humptulips is one of the funniest city names.

Re: Who is everyone?

this is all true Griffenberg but

1) The odds of a tornado in Massachusetts are miniscule, although we have had 2- 5 in the last 10 years or so

2) Coastal Flooding is very common if you choose to live on a Coast

3) Fault Lines do not a viable earthquake of any substance make in Massachusetts

4) Hurricaines do occur - but they are far less common or destructive than in say the Florida or Carolina area and the " Hurricane" you mentioned was actually a " SuperStorm"

5) we were discussing Massachusetts

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

If we are talking mispronounced names, its hard to top my current home here in Kentucky. We've got towns named Versailles (pronounced "ver - sails"), Athens (pronounced "ay - thins" - like hay without the h), Cadiz (pronounced "Cay - deez"), Cairo (pronounced "Cay-ro"), and of course the big one, Louisville ("Loo-uh-vul" - and most locals actually say it closer to "Luh-vul").

And that's not even mentioning the really weird town names here like Rabbit Hash, KY' Hell-for-Certain, KY; Monkey's Eyebrow, KY; Beaverlick, KY; Dingus, KY; and Penile, KY (pronounced 'pen-eel")

Re: Who is everyone?

Here is one for you, There is a department store chain in Texas Beals. The Texans pronounce it Bells. Go figure.

Re: Re: Who is everyone?

Florida has Beals as well.
