Pythagorean Winning Percentage

Pythagorean Winning Percentage

I’ve got a question about the Pythagorean Winning percentage. I know what it means. What’s the real utility of it here? I ask because for one of my teams (1482 ATG) it is completely reversed. My team’s record is 61-73 but the PWG is 73-61! It just makes me laugh. I’ve been waiting for my team to start performing better, which I guess the PWG is supposed to predict...but I’m still waiting. Guess for me it’s more like the Pythagorean Whining Percentage! Any help?

Re: Pythagorean Winning Percentage

Like in real baseball, no real utility, just gives us something to yammer about or use for prognostication.

If gbacci ever rolls out the long-awaited gambling on PC option, the pyth will be useful.

Re: Re: Pythagorean Winning Percentage

Well that’s a good idea. Not sure how I can get more out of my bullpen.

Re: Pythagorean Winning Percentage

Thanks for taking a look at my team! Sounds like I need to change some of my pitchers to “ pull before pitch count is reached”. Is that what you mean? Or should I lower the number of runs scored at which they get pulled? I really appreciate the feedback!

Re: Pythagorean Winning Percentage

Don’t pull them early. Don’t leave them in after pitch count. Leave those alone generally. What do you have set for runs before they are pulled?

Re: Re: Pythagorean Winning Percentage

Hey Josh (and Dez),
Just saw your post now. I had them on the original settings of 6 and 4. Ouch! I’ve changed them to 4 and 2. This still doesn’t seem to have that much effect.
