dWAR

dWAR

Quick question, probably been asked before but here goes:
On team stats it shows a d/war +/- rating which is for the team, is there anyway to see what each individual player is doing in terms of dWAR ?

Re: dWAR

Seeing how DWar is an estimation of a players perceived Defensive Value to a team and a guess as to how many wins he helps the team get versus having another player in their position and not an actual stat, NO

However I would like to see something in the game recap that identifies a clutch Play but it's probably a lot of work for Gus when in the long run, an out is an out.

Re: Re: dWAR

It’s an actual stat. That team number is total hits saved.

Re: dWAR

Wow. I was going to write up something of a compiled individual dWAR primer in hopes of getting something here in the future. The first part of that is gaining the insight into how individuals are affecting Team Hits allowed +/-..

Because that's your beginning for a compiled dWAR stat. I'm gonna make it its own post. Should have a minute today.

Re: dWAR

I don't disagree with you yankeebb, My interpretation of the question was if you could see the actual number of hits saved by an individual player, as far as I know, you can't just the combined team total, am I wrong?

Re: Re: dWAR

Yes that was his question. My point was we’re seeing the total actual hits saved, and that’s coming from adding the actual individual hits saved. So while it’s not being shown, it does exist here as an actual stat.

Re: Re: dWAR

Quit getting Guy and Gus mixed up. I do NOT want Guy's job!!! lol. This would be no extra work for me at all, since I'M NOT GUY!!! :)

Re: dWAR

Yes, I was aware that number was the actual number of hits saved , that alone is a pretty cool stat .
But yeah, was just curious to see, for example, a Brooks Robinson that I have in a custom league that the O’s lead the league in that dWAR stat . Brooksie is a weak hitter but a star at 3rd and was wanting to see what he was really saving me.
Do you guys find that the majority of the saved hits are from the infielders , that seems to be the case for me ?
Thanks for any input

Re: Re: dWAR

CF and SS have the greatest impact from what I've seen.

Absolutely!!

Re: Re: dWAR

It’s a longer term goal to show the individual stats on great plays there’s just more work involved.
