Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

reply if you think they should and what team would go there
ill start Oakland should go to Las Vegas so that the Oakland players can actually have working bathrooms among other things

Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

I don't have an issue with Vegas getting a team.

I thought Oakland is in line for a new stadium? I seem to recall a redevelopment project idea for a part of Oakland with a new stadium being built as part of the project.

Tampa Bay and Miami need to be moved out of Florida. Florida is a Spring Training site, not a baseball fan paradise. There are too many transplants from all over the east coast living in Florida. They still root for their prior team. Tampa has been a solid organization over the past 10 years. Yes, their stadium sucks, but the fans are not there. Move that team to a new city and they will see sellouts (when the pandemic ends).

Re: Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

It seems to me like it would be easiest to move Oakland since they could stay in the west. My question is do people in Las Vegas want a baseball team?

I would agree Tampa Bay especially needs to move, but do we move them west and have to realign divisions, or do they find a new place in the east?

Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

I would LOVE to see the Dodgers say they are thinking of moving there, the resulting wailing and gnashing of teeth from The Sheik would be legendary!!

Re: Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

Oakland is getting a state of the art stadium in 2023, I believe. Here's what would happen:
Most likely it would be Tampa moving, as they have been talking about it for a while. They would move to the AL West, Texas to the AL Central. The Tigers would be moved to the AL East. Why this way? Texas and Detroit don't exactly have success or rivals in their respective division. Yes, the Rangers have the Astros, but who care's. I could also see Vegas moving to the NL Central and the Pirates to the NL East. These are the two scenarios I see happening with Tampa moving to Vegas.

Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

montreal-tampa bay rays smh

Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

An alternative option is to treat this like the NFC East and say screw geography, moving Tampa to Vegas but leaving them in the east to keep the rivalries with the Yankees and Red Sox alive because that has been really fun to watch.

Tampa would probably be good rivals with Houston and Oakland, but Rays-Yankees has been so fun to watch the past few years.

Re: Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

i know the cowboys in the east but Tampa new Orleans Carolina and Atlanta
the south is more like a southeast
Indianapolis is more north than Baltimore and Pittsburgh

Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

Gordo

Detroit to the AL East makes even more sense from a TV perspective since they are in the Eastern time zone. It eliminates disrupting away starting times for the other 4 AL East teams. That point alone is likely to trump any other considerations with both the owners and broadcasters.

Re: Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

yes that makes sense

Re: Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

marauder, the dodgers are never going to move. they literally just had a huge stadium remodel and that stadium is beloved. has a lot of great times there

Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

he said it would be funny because the sheik likes the dodgers and LA

Re: Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

The Sheik would Lose his mind if his beloved Dodgers moved!!

Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

I would lose my mind if my beloved dodgers moved as well

Re: Should Las Vegas get a MLB Team

Tampa isn't going anywhere for at least a few years. They have a lease that St Petersburgh wont let them out of. They had plans to build a new stadium in Ybor City, (next door to Tampa, Literally) that has a great downtown, hip, urban quality. But no one wanted to pay for it.
It isn't so much that most of us are from somewhere else as it is Florida. There is sooo much to do outside. If they built them a new stadium in a better area. They would do well.
The Lightening sell out every game and thats hockey. They have an awesome arena. Put on a great show and are in a great developing area. The fans love the owner as he puts back into the community.
Build it, they will come.
