The Big leagues are back!!

The Big leagues are back!!

here is the link to the league
Great league Dkiley just needed help running the day-to-day things
The league will stay the same
https://www.pennantchase.com/lgHome..

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Okay, I'll bite...

It was a well known detail that dkiley was setting up that league before unforseen circumstances forced him to disappear from PC for a time, at least half of the collection of users that he got to join up were longtime users with thousands upon thousands of games played combined

So why did you feel the need to include the phrase "fair league" in your recruitment message? That doesn't sound very reassuring, to be honest. If you're gonna help dkiley out, then so be it. That's obviously his call, not mine... But at the very least you could TRY to distance yourself from your questionable history..............

But I'm probably wasting my breath trying to help you anyway........

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

then join please

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Easy decision: I'll pass

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

i want to end my past and this is the way to prove it
i have changed for the better

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

As always, you completely missed the point. Twice, literally at the same time

THAT'S why you can't move past it, because you never seem to learn. You keep doing the same thing... We can't help you if you don't want to listen to the help in the first place!

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

i do

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

You keep saying that, but your actions always seem to show otherwise. Ever heard the phrase "actions speak louder than words"? Your words mean nothing if you don't adjust your actions to match. But you have yet to do that. That is why you fall flat on your face so often on this site

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

my actions have, its just hard to prove it when both of the leagues i commish in are missing spots so we cant start

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Huh, you really think they do? Do yourself a favor: go to one of the leagues you have access to the commish tools (not a sandbox league, they can't do this like a true custom league can), go to the See and Submit User Feedback page, and look up the feedback that quite a few users have given for you. Then rethink that statement

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

yes i know so without people on this site willing to give me a chance how do i change that

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

hello ,mcfly , the reason your leagues are missing spots are because of your actions. either you are totally clueless or a troll. wake up or stop trolling

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

yea i have

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Well, taking on commish role after commish role, after being caught CHEATING several times as a COMMISH, isn't exactly inspiring other users to even consider you for such things. But as I said before I'm wasting my breath. This conversation is officially over. I'd say this is like talking to a brick wall, but that would be a lie. The brick wall would be FAR better at actually listening...

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

perhaps everytime i posted something like recruiting for my leagues i didnt get so much backlash

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Actually, that's a full fledged lie, and you know it! My original comment on this thread was not meant as backlash, but rather a subtle suggestion. It's not my fault you are clueless enough to miss the point of it entirely!

The exact comment in question, word for word:

"Okay, I'll bite...

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Ah so he FINALLY gets the hint and changes the original post where this s***show all started to read great league instead of fair league... Kudos. Miracles can happen, apparently

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Maybe an opinion from an outsider with no experience of the negativity might help.

For me, I generally avoid leagues where people who are desperate for commish powers (I think back to many moons ago and a user called DallasCowboy on that one), even more so when they are not financially invested and weeent the person paying for the league.

When I returned from my hiatus, I was looking for leagues, and stumbled across College baseball 2023....I stated my reasons before as to why I didnt want to join, but I kept my eye in it to see if the statement of not being self serving was true. What I noticed didnt inspire with me confidence. After the league was filled, it appeared you started a draft at an immediate whim, put a 15 minute clock on, catching lots of owners off guard and starting with autopicks...just starting a draft immediately and setting a 15 clock just isnt fair, realistic and not throught through given time zones, and the fact it appeared you started without any real notice. People then complained when you or brother didnt make the time, then you guys dudnt get auto picked but others did. 4 owners left, which you then appeared to continue to draft without owners, making the vacant teams also less inviting for any potential new owner, coz really who wants to take over an auto drafted team in reality.

The second point is, having the need to comment on every post in the message board, seems to bring negativity towards you (whether right or wrong). Point is that negativity stocks to a point with owners who havent even played with you.

My advice, get a sandbox, play with a few friends, run the league with a few of your friends in it from your own sandbox and stay off the message boards. PC can be enjoyed by all ages in a variety of different ways, there is no need to run a league to enjoy PC. I feel you will get a lit more from your experience being out of what seems the constant firing line

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

That chat box in the college baseball is comical...just shows another way you are willing to cheat...absurd that you say you are better but these actions keep showing up.

Sandbox is the way to go if you want to start leagues so quickly...just play with yourself and/or your brother; no one wants to be in a league like that and bridges are being burned with any user that may even be remotely interested...anyone wants to know what I found in X-factor when I took that league over...they just have to ask to find out what you plus commish tools equals...

Also stated above...why is it that 75% of the Global Board topics have a post from you, jwb. Sometimes the comments are so random and off the topic that destroys the topic; you don't want backlash...then stop bringing it upon yourself by stepping into conversations that you shouldn't be a part of anyways.

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

look at the trade he made with Jayslater in Auto League 1376 -

https://www.pennantchase.com/lgHome..
Gives up a 91 ranked SP in Walker Buehler as well as a 55 Rank RP in Grant Balfour to obtain a 91 ranked Nelson Cruz - when his pitching was weak at best

As a commissioner I don't think I would let that trade pass - it's best described as a RAPING -

His HIGHEST ranked SP is now a 57 and by the way -- Jay,
Do you really want to 4 peat so bad that you prey on the terminally stupid??

I never thought I could win that League, but joined to make sure a Filler or Dynasty team didn't get in there, but that is a badly lopsided, trade in my honest opinion. Jays worst starter is now higher ranked than his BEST starter

It just proves he is not ready to run a League

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

He made an awful trade in one of my leagues. Caused about 3 or 4 owners to leave... MIDSEASON! Definitely not suitable for commish duties. Very disappointed as he claimed he “changed”.

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

I left a league yesterday where he had a team that should be rebuilding. They would have had a top five pick in the upcoming draft, and had solid young talent on the team already. He traded that upcoming pick, plus his last two first round draft picks who had 6+ progressions and 9 or 10 yrs on their contract, plus another decent player, for a bunch of 32 yr olds who were slightly better now and might help him win an additional 5 games this season, but were already regressing. He then turned around and traded another solid player with 5 yrs left on the contract and 2 progressions left for a catcher with 1 or two years left on the contract and no progressions left. The player he traded was better than the catcher he received. He only needed to make that trade because one of the players in the first deal he made was a young catcher who was already better than the catcher he traded for. I left because the commish let the deal stand because there was “no trade review process in place”, and “other deals were made because of the first trade.”. Guess who the second trade made was with, you guessed it, the commish. Anyway, he is dangerous to allow in ANY league, even if he is not the commish, because if the commish is not strong, or there is not a good trade review policy in place, his trades will ruin the integrity of a league.

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

He should be known as JWB - Savages another League

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

What's hilarious is that he called his team stop the 4peat ,then proceeds to hand over 2 of his best pitchers for a guy that cant play the field to that same team !!

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Anytime I see a board post with 20+ replies, I just assume JWB is involved

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

first of all in the 2024 league i did all of those trades to make my team competetive
and in the auto league im going for offense

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

JWB, read my post in the chatbox of the league. I am not going to explain it again on here.

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

its my team and if im stuck in the middle of the standings the next 10 seasons thats my fault

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

its not going to change the integrity of the league

and plus you spoke up about the trade 3 days after it happened so its not like thats fair
and plus if me trading with the commish is not fair, then nobody would be a commish if they wanted to play in their own league

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

You made the team you traded with a superteam. That changes the integrity of the league. They basically received 3 extra first round picks in exchange for nothing they were going to use moving forward. You don't understand how leagues work if you don't think that changes the integrity of the league.

I also did not say you could not trade with the commish. I the reasoning for upholding the trade was twofold. One was there was not trade review procedure in place, which is on the current and previous commishes, and that your first trade caused other trades to happen. The commish got a good deal from you after you made the fist deal, and that could have influenced his opinion to let the trade stand.

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Respectfully disagree with the description of the Cruz-for-Buehler swap. Cruz is a stud, and you have to give up assets to get assets. Would I prefer the Buehler side? Yes, as I think most of users on this site would. But it's not "a badly lopsided, trade"

Who you have on your team already should not factor in too much into evaluating a trade, unless you're trading down because of positional imbalance. That's not happening here.

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Yea saw all the posts and had to see the goings on. I am at Disney and this is almost as animated.
Sadly I don't let jwb join my leagues anymore. If I see a league he is running I ignore it. If he is in one I question the commishes knowledge of owners and watch closely.
When I first started my own leagues I allowed him in. In both he missed the first 4 picks in a draft but was here on the forums posting while bogging down drafts. JWB you are still doing the same things.
Its not that I dislike him. I don't know him. JWB you just need some time to mature a bit and that wont be done in a few months on PC.
Many here have tried to offer advice you just don't take. I will add my own and do with it what you will.
One has been given several times. Sandbox to improve commish skills.
The other is to not commish any other leagues. Join those that let you. Play with integrity. Be committed to the ones you join. Read messages. Follow instructions. Be a good owner as a player n others leagues. This will help you garnish the reputation you want.
Stay off the forums for a while. If you have questions, post them in a league chatbox or private message experienced owners who can help you.
Your last comments sho a lack of understanding and a willingness to listen to the criticisms expressed. This is the area for you to focus on improving. Do that and it will go a long way here and you can have a productive and positive experience here. Good luck. Best wishes.

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

While we can agree to disagree about the perceived value of a trade - I respectfully totally disagree that who you have on your roster shouldn't factor into evaluating a trade.

As a matter of fact WHO you have on your roster is THE most important factor in making trades - would you trade your Best- 95 ranked Starting Pitcher for a SS when you already have a 99 rank +2.85 DWar SS on your team? How does that trade help you?

Look at JWBSAVAGES team, trading for Nelson Cruz was going to insure that the ONLY way he wins any games is to win a Slugfest, because his pitching is basically batting practice caliber.

I personally would much rather have Walker Buehler than Nelson Cruz in that particular situation - in fairness WB's team was so bad that he couldn't improve it, all he did was assist the guy he was supposedly trying to block.

You need to have the intestinal fortitude to realize you are just destined to lose sometimes, and not hand over a difference maker in a desperate attempt to make Chicken Salad from Chicken Feathers

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

Evaluating a trade and evaluating a trade's impact on teams are two separate things entirely.

As for the impact on teams, jwb has a better chance to win 4 out of every 5 games now. You shouldn't just roll over and play dead just because your team is bad.

Jay shouldn't be blamed for making a positive trade that is not unfair.

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

his team is 31-79, all he did was help the other guy. if he wins 52 in a row he's still missing the playoffs. as a previous poster stated you want to avoid leagues with clueless people or the likes of bpenn77 and machallift or ukwildcats and annabeth who collude to make their teams better.

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

yeah cuz im bad ok i wanted to salvage the season by trying to win a few at the end

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

"all he did was help the other guy." As I said, I disagree with this interpretation. He helped his team too.

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

'its my team and if im stuck in the middle of the standings the next 10 seasons thats my fault'

I agree with you on this, except you've also joined and then left leagues right after before. The main concern is that many guys make bad trades, their teams do badly, and then they abandon the league and team they ruined. Any prospective owners see that team and don't want to join. That is a part of hurting a league's integrity. If you have a plan going forward to actually make that team successful, sweet. My main concern would be you abandoning the team in a season or two.

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

where htennis is missing the point is that the league was a no keeper auto league. if your 48 games under it doesn't matter your season is over. but im sure he'd be ok if a last place team traded their few good players to the team ahead of him in the standings to keep him out of the playoffs.judging from your great record ht id think not, just my opinion.

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

'its my team and if im stuck in the middle of the standings the next 10 seasons thats my fault'

This is true. But you fail to realize, still, that you just set up another team in that league to dominate for the next 10 seasons. And all it did for your team was to give you to have a chance to win maybe 5 more games this season. Now, if you were fighting for a playoff spot, or a championship, it would still be a bad trade, but at least I could see what you were trying to do. But you have the 5th worst team in the league. There was no way you were going to make the playoffs.

Your trade did not just affect the two teams trading, it affects everyone in the league chances to win over the next ten seasons.

If you are not patient enough to rebuild a team, then don't take over a bad team in a custom league.

I don't complain about trades often, but gifting 3 first round picks to another team in a keeper/contract league ruins the league.

I actually don't think your auto league trade was a terrible as some others on here do. I would prefer the Buehler side for sure, but I can at least understand your ideology behind that deal. The custom league deal made zero sense to me.

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

I won't argue about how others might evaluate a trade compared to myself, I am very reticent to trade pitching - Bats, I can always find-but more importantly-

Look at JWB's team

https://www.pennantchase.com/lgRost..

He has 4 First Basemen which is really dumb in the 1st place and trades away his best pitcher for a DH/1B?? - That alone makes it a bad trade even if the components traded for each other were equal - it makes no sense whatsoever

I don't think comparing a 67 Mustang to a 67 GTO is what we are talking about here, it's more like an Alabama farmer trading for a snow plow and giving an International Harvester to a Wheat farmer for it.

I get those who say you try to win as many as you can, and while I might realize I can't win, I will still put my best out there and try to win whatever I can to maintain a constant throughout the League, and not give anyone else an unfair advantage.

What I wouldn't do is make another team better just to win a few games- especially one of the top teams - that doesn't feel right to me.

Re: The Big leagues are back!!

One last thought, I don't know who offered the trade in question.

Re: Re: The Big leagues are back!!

@SinCity - jwb
