PC Wish List

PC Wish List

Since Christmas is just around the bend, it's time for my "First Annual Bi-Annual PC Wish List." My hope is that all of these get serious consideration, and, maybe, a couple are easy adjustments:

- A Time Stamp in the Draft Room, for when picks were made. A time stamp would help in a multitude of ways during a long, slow draft. So, instead of the Draft Pick being marked by this:
Pick #7 Jett, Les
Marlins

the draft pick would, instead, be marked like this:

Pick #7 Jett, Les
Marlins
10/29/2019 6:26 PM

- A "PlaceHolder" feature in Custom Leagues that Commishes can create. A "PlaceHolder" would be a tradeable asset that can be assigned by Commish to any or all teams. PlaceHolder examples: Draft Picks, Prospects, Budget Money... a "PlaceHolder" could be created for ANY asset that Custom Leagues allow to trade. These tradeable PlaceHolder assets would populate in the Trade Center to be included in trades, for transaction ease, clarity, and proper Transaction historical record. Ideally, PlaceHolders wouldn't count in the Roster numbers.

- In Commish Tools, "Import Teams" feature: The default number in the field "Minimum number of innings pitched to qualify for Import:" changed from 25 to 35, and the default number in the field for "Minimum number of at bats to qualify for Import:" changed from 50 to 125. 35 IPs and 125 IPs are the Fave Team cutoffs, and would save many GMs a lot of time when importing teams into Sandboxes, etc. for a team build.

- In the Sim: Increase the percentage (from the current 0%) that 2-Speeds and 1-Speeds tag and score from 3rd base on a fly ball. It seems that world-class athletes would be able to run 90 feet at least some of the time on a deep fly ball.

- Change "Favorite Teams" to "Franchise Teams." It's more accurate and more self-explanatory. My favorite team is either the Houston Astros or Washington Nationals, but I play "Favorite Teams" with whatever Franchise makes my black heart flutter at the time I'm choosing.

Thank you, Santa Claus.

Re: PC Wish List

As always raging, a good list... some easy, some obviously more complex. Curious to know how valuable others see some of these as.

Re: Re: PC Wish List

I myself would like to see a breakdown or description of Positive or Negative DWar results in the game play

Re: Re: PC Wish List

10/30 mcvn4 Random Chatter 2 0
on a scale of 1-10 in terms of how valuable:

Time Stamp- 6/10. definitely useful to know how long the guy on the clock is taking. nto super duper important tho if other more pressing things can get taken care of

- A "PlaceHolder" feature - 10/10. will make commishes lives much easier if this is implementable

- In Commish Tools, "Import Teams" default number IPs and ABs- 8/10. i think this might have been asked for before. very helpful for those in custom fav teams leagues

- In the Sim: Increase the percentage (from the current 0%) that 2-Speeds and 1-Speeds tag and score from 3rd base on a fly ball.- 7/10, sure why not

Re: PC Wish List

I've got a few stocking stuffer ideas...

When looking at the Scorecard for the scores of a given day, currently there is a "0" for every half-inning that wasn't played (e.g. the bottom of the 9th, or the extra innings). Can that be changed to a dash, especially the unplayed extra innings?

Also, after inning 9 comes inning "x". Can that be changed to whatever the final inning was?

This would make it easier when scrolling through to find any noteworthy extra-inning games.

Lastly, is there a way to highlight noteworthy events, at least to the commish? Maybe there can be an option in the Commish Tools to receive an email any time certain statistical criteria are met? (e.g. no-hitter, 3-HR game, etc.) I don't do it as much, but I know some commishes like mentioning such things, which requires a lot of manually searching.

Thanks, Santa!

Re: Re: PC Wish List

Realize this would probably be a major pain but...something i'd like to see would be an automatic drop in the batting order for an injured player at the start of a game.

I'm sure we've all missed it or didn't bother to correct it...but i'd like a setting where if someone is starting for someone injured..they automatically drop to the 9th spot in the batting order...2 injured people would be 8-9 and so on....having something like that would be nice and you could turn it on if you wanted to have your bench guys dropped in the order automatically when they fill in.

Re: Re: PC Wish List

Since I was in there now messing around, you will see:

1. new defaults for Import Team
2. time stamp on user picks in draft room
3. new retire player option by rank

Re: PC Wish List

Oh Man, some kind of highlighting to a commish-selected number for in-game stats would be a wet dream come true for this commish. Running 5 leagues and being obsessed with trying to document every little thing, this would save me from wasting time trying to peruse box scores until my eyes bleed. And still falling short..

Change in default AB/IP for player import to make Custom Fave Teams sandbox importing easier would also be pretty cool.

Re: Re: PC Wish List

Thank you, Guy. Excellent changes.

You have just settled approximately 5 arguments per Slow Draft about when the last GM drafted, how long the current GM has taken, etc.

And, saved us Fav Teams players so much time when trying to build a team.

Fantastic! The holiday spirit has jumped into PC before Halloween.

Re: PC Wish List

HERE'S A BIG ONE THAT KEEPS SLIPPING EVERYONE'S MINDS ?!

Why when you set date/time for add/drops to turn on in Custom leagues, does it almost NEVER TURN ON AT THAT TIME ?!

Commishes always have to go in and manually do it anyway. Has anyone addressed that to you, Guy? I've meant to, but kept forgetting. Countless commishes and customs owners will attest, FA adds NEVER turn on automatically anymore. Can we fix that?

Re: Re: PC Wish List

I have had the frustration of this feature not working for me as well.

It seems to work for me as long as I don't do any commissioner duties (turning on/off ranking feature, changing draft order, etc.) Surely there are some commissioner duties you could do and the auto turn on would still work, but I have basically trained myself not to touch any commissioner tools between the time of setting the feature to turn on and the time it actually turns on...

But frustrating it can be, agreed.

Re: PC Wish List

It works fine but if you then change anything in league settings and save it wipes it out. The reason is because the league settings are set to No for add/drop FA unless you change it to yes, so by saving it as No, you wipe out saved dates. It tells you that on page where you set the time:

‘Once you turn free agency or drops OFF on the League Settings page, these dates will be removed.’

Re: Re: PC Wish List

Brian is correct. Just tested it and it works flawlessly. But once you set those dates, you cannot modify League Settings. Or else you have to go Back and reset the dates. And remember it's all based on PST.

Re: PC Wish List

thank you thank you thank you!! :-)

Re: Re: PC Wish List

So even if you tweak stat levels, it throws those time off ?

Re: PC Wish List

Nope - the only time it happens is in League Settings or Clear Rosters (when you check "close free agency")... Any action that closes Drops or Free Agency has to clear the date...

I am making an improvement to the Change League Settings page so now it will only delete the date if you explicitly change your setting from "Yes" to "No". This means now if you have it set to "No" and you have a future date set, you can make other changes on the League Settings page and it won't delete your date.

Keep an eye on the green confirmation message, that will let you know if it was deleted or not...

If after all this you're still not seeing it working, let me know... but I personally have never had it not work, and I see nothing in the code to indicate it would not work.

Re: Re: PC Wish List

Its LITERALLY happening in Global Baseball Federation right this second. Add/Drops should have turned on 37 min ago at 2 PST.

Re: PC Wish List

And what does it have in league settings? A time? Or both are set to no?

I checked and you aren’t commish so my guess would be that commish previously cleared them in one of the ways we’ve already mentioned.

Re: PC Wish List

Both are on now (drops and FA) so I can assume the commish manually turned them on... the dates were cleared. So probably the case of the dates getting cleared accidentally.

I think my fix is going to help this. It will only clear now if the drops or free agency are manually changed to off. Before, ANY time any commish saved the settings it would clear those dates.

Re: Re: PC Wish List

I would just like to be given rings when I earn them, and not endlessly gaslit with "I already gave it to you."

Re: PC Wish List

That’s between you and your private league commissioner.

Re: PC Wish List

If possible, I would like to see user leaderboards for different auto league types, or at least be able to view your own record in each auto league type.

Re: Re: PC Wish List

J-Underground - commishes receive messages if it’s really been given. So they can either prove it to you or admit wrong. Example:

Date: 10/5/2019 12:39 PM
To: yankeebb
From: gbacci block user

Your ring request for (username) for league (league number) has been granted.

Re: PC Wish List

I’m usually on quite a bit. I’m no numbers guru or whizz like some of you guys and I’m probably older than most but I love the management and baseball aspect of this.
One thing I’d like to see is something that tells how long I’ve been a part of PC. Maybe it’s here but I don’t know about it? Like the date we started on our profile page or maybe a tag for each username?
Maybe like:
Year one: rookie
Years 2-3: minors
Years 4-12: veteran
12+: Hall of Fame

Obviously, if the actual info is available, I’m sure it would be easier to just throw it on the profile but it could be a cool little tag to know who you’re dealing with.

Thanks and keep up the good work

Re: Re: PC Wish List

Dear Santa,

For Christmas I would like an option added to Commissioner tools that would enable owners to add SP to their bullpen. This could be turned on during playoffs.

This would enable owners to mimic IRL strategies during playoff games, a very useful strategy when you have a five man rotation of 75 or higher rank SP's.

Please thank the elves for all the toys they have created here in the PC world.

Re: PC Wish List

Regarding adding SP to Bullpens, is there really that much of a difference? The Starter still has to allow at least a minimum of 4 Earned Runs or use up their stamina (although you can set to pull before stamina is depleted) before a reliever enters.

On that note, If a pitcher has 90 stamina and you select BEFORE stamina is exhausted, at what point is he pulled? 75% ? - an in case of a No-Hitter or a perfect game in progress he would stay at any rate correct?

Re: PC Wish List

Sin city you'd think it can't be that hard to implement since Deadball era leagues have pitchers that can already do this (for a very obvious reason, or a lack thereof that is [let's see who gets the joke lol])

Re: Re: PC Wish List

Well maybe Guy wants to make Deadball Era different than the rest of PC and that little option accomplishes that.

If every League had exactly the same rules PC could get boring

Re: PC Wish List

Bullpen options in the Deadball era were EXTREMELY limited - and most pitchers back then were used in both capacities.

Re: Re: PC Wish List

Another small stocking stuffer wish...

In a player's Game Log, the first column shows the real-time date the game occurred. I would rather (or in addition to) have the Game # the game was played. That would give me an easy way to tell how often a player is used. (Particularly helpful for RPs.)

Re: PC Wish List

I wish for setting earned run and pitch count limits at the individual pitcher level, including bullpen.

Love the injury drop in the batting order someone previously proposed. If you sim a handful a games at a time, injuries in game 1 could greatly affect the rest of the games in that batch.

Re: Re: PC Wish List

on the players stat page, add another line that shows his beginning real stats as a rookie.this could help you get a better idea on how that player has progressed

Re: PC Wish List

Mrbubbles that's actually a pretty good idea! I second this!

Re: Re: PC Wish List

As a new player in a league that's been running for a few seasons, that would be awesome. The player's card displays the season-by-season Simulated Stats... it would be cool to also display the season-by-season "Real Stats" on there.

My biggest question in trades is... "How does this type of player progress over the years?" No way to tell without playing a few years and trying to track them all...

Good idea, bubbles!

Re: PC Wish List

In compiled stats. Quality starts for sp. It would help figuring if a sp carrying some average to bad stats, if these are results from couple of bad games or if he is bad game in and game out...

Re: Re: PC Wish List

A quality start is just a GS with at least 6 IP/ 3 or less ER. A simple check of game log gives that same information.

Re: PC Wish List

I would prefer to have such stat being accessible at first glance instead of having to go through every single game one by one, for every season I am in... and use a scratch pad to compile them.... + it gives a good tool and a very relevant stats indicator to compare how every pitchers are performing very quickly...
