shutout or no hitter

shutout or no hitter

I would like to have the option to not bring in the setup man and/or closer when there is a shutout - or maybe esp when there is a no hitter

thoughts?

if a guy has a no hitter through 7 with a 3-0 lead and you ahve a setup man set to come in in the 8th, it would be nice for the sim to say "nah its a no hitter, let the pitcher stay in"

or even for a shutout

Re: shutout or no hitter

I am pretty sure pitchers don't get pulled with a no-hitter going. Although I'll admit I am not 100% sure... but not shutouts...

Re: Re: shutout or no hitter

ok good to know
thoughts on a shutout rule?

Re: Re: shutout or no hitter

I no longer use Set up man because I had too many times when my SP was cruising along and because I was only up say 2 or 3 runs going into the 8th, he gets pulled, and the set-up man blows things-

Just me but because the automatically come in, even if you would not pull your starter, I can't do it. Say my SP has a 2 hitter after 7, there's no way he would be pulled unless he was tired but he would get pulled so no thanks .

Re: shutout or no hitter

yeah it would be nice to have a little flexibility on this - same with closers really. I don't care so much about the shutout as I do the scenario when your starter is cruising through 7 with 75 pitches or something.

Some ideas:
Bring in setup/closer only when starter has reached 90% of pitch count
Bring in setup/closer regardless of pitch count
Don't bring in setup/closer when starting pitcher is on fire

Re: Re: shutout or no hitter

I can confirm pitchers don't get pulled during no hitters unless they are far past pitch count.
