Dodgers - Astros

Dodgers - Astros

Loved Dusty Bakers comment after Kelly's "wildness" : "What are you supposed to do then?" Baker said. "And what upset me was the umpires warned us. Why don't you warn him? He's the one throwing the ball. He's the one that started this mess in the first place. I didn't like it at all."

Oh they started it Dusty - by cheating for 3 years and more than likely cheating the Dodgers out of a championship. Clueless.........

Re: Dodgers - Astros

Dusty is full of crap... anyone watching that game heard all the junk being talked to Kelly from the Astros dugout... kelly said one thing back and its go time for them? No way dusty did not hear what his players were saying either... might be the MLB version of a horrible flop in basketball

Re: Re: Dodgers - Astros

Kelly got suspended for 8 games - for not hitting any batters 🙄Commissioner wants to "protect" the Astro players - which means you can't pitch them inside I guess. So not only were the players not punished - they can't be retaliated against the old fashion way. The gift that keeps on giving....

Re: Dodgers - Astros

I hope every team in the league goes after the Astros.

Re: Dodgers - Astros

Pitchers always get suspended for obvious throwing at heads. The teams involved don’t matter. On that note of course HOU will get this all season. No fans to boo either so it’s really on the players to dish it.

Re: Re: Dodgers - Astros

Is pro-rates out to a 21 gamer - a bit harsh. Being appealed........

Re: Dodgers - Astros

I was initially annoyed, and then I thought about it. Probably not fair to prorate out suspensions to see what they "will be". 8 games is 8 games. I thought it was harsh and it should have been 5 or so (because you can't prove he intended to throw at them), but then I learned Kelly is a repeat offender. Because of the location of the pitches, even if he didn't hit anyone, 8 is fair, although maybe I think it should get knocked down to 7.

And as always, the biggest mistake is still Manfred not punishing the individual Astros.

Re: Re: Dodgers - Astros

He would serve 13% of the season is the appeal is denied - 13% is 13%. He's a repeat offender because he's usually the one guy on every team he's been on who will "man up" and take care of business.

Re: Dodgers - Astros

You can say 13% is 13%, I can say 8 games is 8 games.

Re: Re: Dodgers - Astros

As a poster on twitter stated - " if Kelly serves 1 game for throwing at a batter, it will be MORE than any Astro served for cheating to win the World Series"

That poster just WON Twitter

Re: Dodgers - Astros

2020 Astros season SHOULD be nothing more than a 60 game set against the Marlins at whatever field is closest to Magic City.

Re: Re: Dodgers - Astros

That's great sincity 😎

Re: Dodgers - Astros

I don’t agree throwing at someone’s head is ever manning up.

Re: Re: Dodgers - Astros

Ya, head hunting is ALWAYS bad- Stick one in his ribs or in the Back or backside, leave a bruise but don't head hunt

Re: Dodgers - Astros

Anyone ever heard of what happened to SS Ray Chapman, who had played for Cleveland at the time, back in 1920?

Re: Dodgers - Astros

Dusty, STHU! The Astros, especially the players, are the guilty party, NOT the victims. Their lack of remorse when they had the chance to show it, sealed it!! GUILTY, no sympathy here for them.

Re: Dodgers - Astros

Throwing at someone’s head is never acceptable. I still remember Mike Torres hitting Dickie Thon in the face.. Thon was on his way to a great career, but was never the same after that. So the Astros cheated... You can kill someone hitting them in the head. If the Dodgers want to make a point, go out and win a World Series.

Re: Dodgers - Astros

Like I said, how about Ray Chapman? He LITERALLY DIED because of a pitch that hit his head in 1920 (specifically, it was a pitch from then Yankees pitcher Carl Mays). I personally despise the Astros as a result of their actions the last few seasons, despite having no remorse whatsoever. But even I believe they don't deserve a head hunting trip. Being hit by a pitch in any form is one thing, but a head shot can ABSOLUTELY be dangerous under ANY circumstances, and in Chapman's particular case, even FATAL!

Re: Re: Dodgers - Astros

I remember this one, was watching the game on TV really bad

Re: Dodgers - Astros

I don't promote head hunting, and haven't seen anyone here say it either...but a good ass plunking is well deserved.

As for Chapman, I have been to his grave here in Cleveland, beautiful and still gets flowers and bats laid on it. He died pre helmet era, and was result of infection from tobacco spit and dirt, and which led to regular changing of balls and banning of spit balls. Still took 30 years plus for helmets...MLB learns slow.
