Curious

Not trying to be a pain, but curious how close football is?

Thanks

Re: Curious

It’s probably going to be a couple months before the beta. It’s been a bit harder than I expected. I never really thought about all the different things that can happen on a football field and trying to factor all that in and do it in a stats-driven way. I’m still committed to cranking it out. I think it’s going to be fun.

Re: Curious

Bubbles has never been in any of my leagues, so he has no way of knowing what kind of commissioner I am.

Sin ****ed and moaned the whole time he was in my NFL league and then quit abruptly in a huff because he did not like a rule that nobody else has an issue with, so I banned him because I did not see any advantage in having him rejoin.

Re: Re: Curious

For the record,I did not and have never quit a league mid season, would not do that.

I complained because NFL League only requires 1 SP and Slump Buster was unlimited, my SP became SB eligible and I could not enter him is Slump Buster because as soon as the Games were Simmed, BY RATCHAN- he would rest all the pitchers.

So I said well just rest them BEFORE you sim the next game end of problem, he refused and I called him out on it in the Leagues Message board, next day I was booted, I never quit.

At least be honest -

Re: Curious

I'll admit I may have misremembered some of the details, but your incessant complaining about one small issue that did not bother anybody else even after I explained to you why I did not want to make the change you demanded was sufficient reason for me not to want you in the league any longer. I apoligize if any of what I posted earlier about you was inaccurate.

Re: Re: Curious

My incessant complaining? I was in the League for 7 games when my SP became SB eligible, I was booted after game 10.

I was not asking you to make a Change, I was asking that you adhere to the rules you established, that's quite a different thing and I was frankly shocked when you didn't apply the simple fix.

Meanwhile Batters were entering Slump Buster, that was grossly unfair and frankly negligent, once the fix was provided your failure to implement it was mean spirited and an abuse of power-I only wanted what I was supposed to get, but you heckled me and told me to "Deal with it"

So I called you out

I consider the matter closed now.

You interpretation of events and your memory of them is very interesting. Thirty other owner along with myself saw it quite differently.

Re: Re: Curious

Aren’t PC personality conflicts just the best entertainment? Netflix has nothing on Bacci Entertainment Group. Oh, the drama!

For the record, I was in said NFL league for the first few seasons. I understood why Rat didn’t want to allow pitchers on Slump Buster, but I didn’t like it much either. Probably should have at least updated the Rules Page with the rationale, but that didn’t happen. The personality clash was quite epic, and I remember offering couples counselling but to no avail. Irreconcilable differences was what I wrote on the official PC Separation form. Sad.

C’mon people now. Smile on your brother. Everybody get together, gotta love one another right now. 🎶🎵😁

I am stll in the NFL league and it happened exactly as SCM says. I don't like the Slump Buster hocus pocus either. It gives the Commish an unfair edge.

Re: Curious

Gus, I honestly could not remember why I booted Sin from my NFL league. The relevant section of the chat box conversation long ago fell off the end and disappeared, so I could not look it up. Then, I took a look at the User Feedback I gave Sin at that time and I was reminded of what happened. I do not recall the particulars, but the gentleman accused me of cheating based on no evidence whatosever. That is something, I will state here publicly, that will always get someone banned from my leagues. Criticism is fine. Complaining is irritating, but acceptable up to a point. But tossing around unfounded accusations of cheating are totally unacceptable. I, like most everyone else I hope, play this game for fun. I have never cheated and will never cheat. I create leagues to have fun and that is all. Nobody has to like everything about my leagues. You are free to quit, even midseason. But don't accuse me of using commish tools to cheat. That kind of slander is unfair and wrong and it may keep people from joining leagues. And if people don't join my leagues, I will have less fun. And, as I stated above, I run these leagues in order to have fun.

So, in short, Sin accused me of cheating, based on nothing other than that he prefered I change a rule that I chose not to (for reasons I explained clearly to the gentleman at the time), so I booted and banned him. He suggests I am on a power trip, but that is nonsense. The only power I am after is the power to run a fun league without guys like Sin tossing grenades in the chat box.

Re: Curious

Ragingsol is not in the NFL league. I am not sure why he said that he is. A typo, perhaps.

I really hate to waste any more time talking about all of this, but in the interest of hopefully keeping these two gentleman from scaring off other owners that might want to join (the Cowboys are available!) I will explain the day off thing.

In order to simulate a one-game-a-week schedule like the real NFL, I grant six days off between games. I have chose to grant these days off immediately after simming a day of games. I always grant the days off before I even check scores, including the score from my own team's game. Granting days off right after the sims denies owners the chance to put their QB1 (their ace SP) in slump buster because you can't slump bust a pitcher that is scheduled to start the next game. For this reason, Sin demanded I change my procedure and grant the six days off before simming instead of after. I acknowledged then and I acknowledge now the benefits of doing it that way, but I prefer not to for two reasons. 1. Doing so would mean the schedule would not show the correct SPs for the upcoming games and, far less importantly, 2. I woud have to remember to grant those days off before running sims, something that, if I happen to forget, would cause anger, chaos and confusion when every team's backup QB starts by mistake.

That is the same explanation I gave to Sin at the time. Ragingsol was surely aware of it as well if he was there at the time (I honestly do not remember if it was before of after that time that he stormed out of my league).

Anyway, I hope I have made this all clear enough. The NFL is a unique league that may not be for everyone but I and 30 others are enjoying it. Please join, if you are interested. And if you are not banned.

Re: Re: Curious

First off, the rules stated unlimited Slump Buster, the fact that SP had no chance of using Slump Buster made that untrue, teams were drafted based on the rules stated, to make a unilateral decision to not abide by rules as outlined is fraud, period.

Your response that the league would show the wrong SP is laughable, everyone knew going in that their #1 SP would be able to start each game, a simple reminder e-mail to all owners would have confirmed that, the fix was simple, you chose to ignore it and berate me, that is unacceptable.

You say I accused you of cheating, not true, the league also allowed changing park set up on a game to game basis, only you could SIM games and the time frame was from between 5-8 pm

My SP was John Smoltz, he was an 89 rank and one of the top 10 SP in the league, my team had big disadvantage on both fields, yet in the 7 games I played before you booted me he allowed a ridiculous amount of Hrs, with 5 of those 7 at HOME.

The player pool had a lot of stiffs and a few really good position players, it was a statistical improbability that he could allow that many HR in that many games,

I jokingly wondered if you were changing my park to big boost and then swapping it back right away, which was possible but only after you basically insulting me about complaining about your failure to enforce rules you created, at the time we were trading barbs in BNBL and I thought perhaps you were messing with me, I admit that, but in fairness without absolute proof I should not have even mentioned it. By the way, I will needle with the best of them and have a thick skin as a result, so no biggie there.

I consider this a dead issue, I can be a stickler for rules, but I won't be insulted for doing so.

You are not the wounded party here, your behavior was mean spirited and an abuse of Commissioner powers in my opinion.

But its in my rear view mirror, I think you owe me an apology, but don't expect to get one I would much rather forget about it now.

Re: Curious

That's what I thought

Ratchan, do you think it's reasonable to say that perhaps the other owners who didn't say anything about it (since you're claiming no one else has an issue with it) maybe didn't even notice it? Because I was in that league for more than a few seasons, and I never saw this occur, but only because I wasn't paying attention. Considering my SP was not among the best even in my conference, let alone the whole league, if I HAD notice this I'd probably have the same mindset as Sin did in season 1

Is it not a fair assessment to assume that if I could completely miss this for several seasons, then other owners could simply be missing it too, and not just, as you say, "not having a problem with it"?

Re: Re: Curious

seems reasonable to: A) not want starting pitchers to be on slump buster (since there's only one starter) and B) update the rules to clarify that point.

Re: Curious

Gang, I don't think we need to keep rehashing this here. I have a lot of empathy for commissioners because it's not easy - I've often forgot to update my rules when I made rule changes. At the same time I understand being upset if you're banned for what you deem to be not a huge deal or a valid complaint. That said, commissioners are the ones doing the work, and ponying up the annual $20 in most cases, so they can run the league how they want. I think it's valid to voice a comment of concern about the commissioner here, but then we have to let it be and people can decide for themselves if they want to be in the league.

And back to the original point, yes still working on actual football, and yes I feel pretty good about a beta happening in 2022.
