Ability to create Auto Leagues

Ability to create Auto Leagues

I was able to create an Auto League the other day ATG 1320 and it starts today but can we add an option to NOT allow Filler and Dynasty? or only after say 3 or 4 Days?

I am actually pissed that a league that had 10 teams filled in 4.5 hours someone created the Filler and Dynasty teams, have a little patience folks - I am used to waiting WEEKS at times you can't wait a DAY??

Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

Wow, 1st game of a new season and I got an injury, only 1 game so no biggie, but I never had an injury within the 1st 5 games before when Roster is so limited

Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

That’s bad, especially as fast as leagues are filling. Probably someone new, and didn’t realize how bad those filler teams are for a league. On a bright note, looks like you have a good chance of winning that division ; )

Re: Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

I had the same thing this past week. First time I remember an injury before supplemental draft. Was my only 2B.

Ya but honestly, I don't want to win like that...

Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

My 2B as well perhaps there's a Bounty on them?? LOL or MAYBE both of these leagues were created due to the recent surge instead of the usual way and there is not something in the code to NOT allow injuries until after the Supplementals??

Re: Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

Yeah, at the end of the season I'm going to ask gbacci to remove filler and dynasty at the moment...if the leagues don't fill we can reconsider, but that doesn't seem a problem at the moment...

Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

I'm new to the site and reading through a bunch of the boards and came across this post and was wondering what "Filler" and "Dynasty" teams are in an auto league? Trying to learn the lingo!

Re: Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

Filler and dynasty are bots...

A long long time ago (2 months), we had trouble filling leagues, so bots were created so leagues wouldn't run idly.

I dislike them. They rarely win, and they usually aren't competitive at all.

Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

I don't like that the Filller and Dynasty are still part of this while leagues are filling so fast.

But this can be a catch 22 here... As you know 11th and 12th team are left with very thin on talent and pretty much leftovers with a few exceptions once 10 teams have already auto draft.

Basically at that point, all of the most valuable players are gone.

Most of the vet owners will avoid being the 11th or 12th to pick in there...

I don't mind myself to join as the 12th man, since it can be a challenge to try to make the best out where is pretty much left is the crap of the bests...A vet user who handles the game pretty good can surely find is way around. But for a new user it will be pretty difficult.

But for New users who are joining, they will then just be sucked in as the 12th man out, and they may not find it quite enjoyable when they realize that they are so far in talent vs the others... and pretty much be punching bags for the season and thats pretty much what you don't wan't to happen.

On the long run....We will be left again with the same problem of a lot of people avoiding being the 11th or 12th man in leagues...and you will then see leagues stalling to fill again...

So in the end, I just think its fine that filler and dynasty are still available... they keep leagues rolling and leave access to a fair players pool to new users so they can enjoy the site to it's fullest.

I see these teams (Dynasty and Filler) as expansion teams, or teams in reconstruction...let them be the punching bags!

Re: Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

Is it feasible to change the Auto Draft mechanics to better spread out the talent "pods" managers get to choose from to fit 12 team leagues?

Right now it seems like Auto Draft provides good talent pools to about 10 managers, which would make sense if all the basic, free auto leagues were 10 and not 12 teams by default.

My own league has 12 teams and we're hoping a sound supplemental draft will aid the last two managers through the draft door but that shouldn't need to be the case when a 12 team set-up is so much more popular.

Seems like it could just be a calibration issue when it comes to how the talent is divided.

Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

1) Filler and dynasty are turned off for now for new leagues, they have been for a while now

2) @Crazy... the Quick Draft is extremely difficult to get right. I've been battling it for 12 years. So in short, it's not a simple calibration issue. You're trying to allow teams to completely fill their roster while other teams have not yet drafted, and somehow balance all that out without offering the same players every time to the early teams so it does not become routine... it's a nearly impossible task. That's why I generally hate the Quick Draft, but a lot of people like it and are not willing to wait through a Daily Draft.

Re: Re: Ability to create Auto Leagues

The problem about picking 11th or 12th is not getting the star players. You will still get a share of valuable sluggers, aces, closers etc...

Its getting the middle rank players that are diamond in the rough... they are the difference makers. Some guys ranked 60 are as good if not better than many 85 + rank players... but they will get draft early and not be eligible in the lower draft 11th, 12th spot...

Anyhow, I won't cry if Dynasty and Filler are gone either...

Re: Quick Draft

Guy,

I still think Quick Draft is a fantastic idea/option, and I will always assume changes to the long standing systems of the site here are complex and laborious.

That was mostly wishful thinking on my part, no offense intended.

Re: Re: Quick Draft

@crazy thanks I did not take any offense, just wanted to explain the history.
