Re: Damn, one of my favorites....

Damn... Always sad to see someone pass that young... not even retirement age (the general 65 years old minimum for regular people not Baseball players who are set for life by the time they turn 30) and he already is gone... Kidney Disease, oof that's a tough one to handle... Condolences and best wishes to his family

Re: Re: Damn, one of my favorites....

I just always remember him ending on a roster SOMEWHERE in October when I was a kid. From Toronto in '93. The Yanks in '95.. To Cleveland in '97. Always being in the middle of big moments. He was a solid ballplayer who contributed all over the infield. R.I.P.

Re: Damn, one of my favorites....

In the 80's. Fernandez was quite up there with Ripken, Trammell and Ozzie Smith... there was these 4, and then the rest of the pack far behind.. Great defense, combine with a proffessional hitter who would give an upside on the basepath... He quite wen't under the radar... but surely he set standards at the SS position and raise the bar for years to come... He played at a time where SS were stric kly there for their gloves and hitting 8th in the lineup, because they were quite all offensive liabilities...He was instead an integrate part of the offense i n any team he played...
